It's resistant to minor dings. If you hit one too hard or just the wrong way, it breaks or chips and repairs are not straight forward or guaranteed to work. It probably shouldn't happen if you are careful with your cue, but it can happen. I guess the cue being solid has value if you chuck it in the trunk after playing or play in bars etc. It can also have some value to a pro that has to travel a lot with the cue from humid to dry environments, probably. If you fly from Nevada to the Phillipines then to Germany and China, it's good to know the shaft won't warp.

I'm not a world beater at this game and I never will be. The enjoyment is in the playing, hitting the ball sweetly and getting that great feeling you get when you hit the ball just right and the cue makes that wonderful sound and gives you a nice feel in the hand. The soulless, hollow "thunk" or "plink" from a carbon cue just doesn't deliver that for me. Most people playing carbon tend to use soft tips, to mitigate the horrible feel and sound, and that's just the opposite of what I prefer. The lousy feedback also robs me of information about how I'm hitting the ball as a bad stroke feels no different to a perfect one. I feel it's harder to stay on top of my game with carbon.
Filler seems to be doing just fine playing with CF.

Wood shafts are a lot more work than CF.

You mentioned that the 30° Rule does not work as well arout 40° and up.

The 30° Rule works well over the full range between a 3/4-ball hit (14.5°) and a 1/4-ball hit (48.6°).

The 3-Times-the-Angle system for draw works only for cut angles less than 40°.

Have you ever worked with the "included" 90° angle to predict the cue ball path--sighting the carom angle, and then aiming to cut the 1st ball at 90° to that line (or thereabouts, considering follow/draw off the tangent line)?

No. That doesn't sound very accurate. Are you thinking about back-of-the-ball aiming instead?

The cueball is gone too fast for the grip on the cue to matter. It has been proven many times.

Sure it does p=mv. The problem is that as the weight increases your ability to move the cue fast decreases. So there is a weight beyond which it is not productive for a particular individual to increase the weight of the cue.
A firm grip does result in different ball action... back to 3c billiards basics.

The bigger balls and faster cloth and larger distances expose a lot of what is happening with balls on cloth that isn't easily noticed in pool.

Limbsaver X-1

The only use I can see is if the "hit" of the cue is sharp or harsh or pingy, the limbsaver might quiet that. It's not going to change the action of the hit, just the sound.
I like cues that have a lot of feedback. The last thing I would want to do is mute one of my cues. That might also be one reason that I hate soft tips. When I hit the cue ball I want to feel it.

Might be a fun game, but the motivating premise underlying your argument is false. A typical player can always beat a much stronger player with weight. That's why handicapped tournaments and leagues have gotten so popular.

This is just another attempt at leveling the field, but without (at least yet) the proven track record of existing rating systems, be it Fargo, APA SL, or others.
