Moving to a heavy playing cue

I like a light cue but I typically don't really care about weight so long as the cue is balanced well. The cue I play with right now is 18.9oz, but I've played with cues that were over 20oz like some of Richard Harris's Blue Grass cues (who doesn't core anything and is notorious for liking a heavy cue) that felt lighter simply due to being very well balanced.

Funny pic/gif thread...

Gotta tell this story that comes to mind. My friend Roland had been an equipment operator, never did any climbing. He was out of work and a friend said he could get Roland a job with the boilermakers, union scale. Roland wasn't sure what was involved boiler making but union scale couldn't be too bad. He and the other man are working off of some scaffolding much like this guy is on except those X braces he is standing on are in place to stabilize the A-frame scaffolding.

They go about eighty feet up the scaffold and get to a damaged area of the boiler. A little cutting grinding and welding and they are ready to go up to the next level. They had been standing on one two by twelve scaffolding board. The boilermaker Roland is helping grabbed the scaffolding end piece and stands on the little bar. "OK, grab the board and move it up to the next level." You know, the board Roland is standing on. Roland told the guy he was crazy, might have added a few flourishes to his speech.

The man looked at Roland, "You haven't been a boilermaker long have you?"

"As long as I am going to be!" Roland's boilermaker career lasted two hours and thirty minutes.

I always hated that scaffolding. About 100-120 feet high and if you hadn't been able to stabilize it a few places it wanted to rock and roll! I have built a bunch of it but not standing on those X braces that have a big hole and pin midway to let them form an X for stability. Looks third worldish where he is at but no way would I consider doing what he is doing! I would be doing a little retiring my own self.

What did I do wrong? DigiBall video.

The table rails play fine boys.
Tell me about your table. I can't find Fisher Price tables for sale today. Has it been replaced by something else from China? What's the weight? Does it have slate? Does it come with regulation balls or smaller balls? Where does it fail? Is a free 6' pool table that weighs a lot better? What do you use it for?

I found two Fisher Price pool tables but ...... not what you have though . . . .

need checklist for cue photos?

I am tired of ID posts with inadequate pics -- they are an imposition.

"Please follow these suggestions."
or
"Your pics suck. Read sticky entitled __________ and revise."
and
"Our opinions can only be as good as your pics allow."

I hate mandatory. What investment? What I imagined was a list concocted by us (with pics for boneheads/uninitiated). Is not this a DIY bunch? Don't we have too much time on our hands?

Joint, Side [pic]
Joint, Top [pic]
Butt, side [pic]
Bumper [pic]
Etc.

"Follow the examples."
Add "out of focus" warning.

The real cue ID pros know what we need/how to describe. Pics can be scavenged from our pages and applied by our techies . (I had the idea!)
I was kind of under the impression that cue ID posts with no pictures already got that treatment. And if a member wants to put something together as guidance I really don't see what it could hurt. All I'm saying is "good luck" getting someone who wasn't going to post pictures yet still asking for an ID to actually read the suggestions and follow them.

Fargo Starter Rating Affecting “True” Average?

Hey guys,

So I’ve started playing in a league and a weekly tournament that reports to Fargo. I’ve been wanting to play more this year, but life and what not got in the way so it’s been a small sample size. I only have 86 games in the system but was assigned a starter rating of 525. I downloaded the app and am just starting to understand the system.

So the rating says 536 but the graph indicates 550. People have been telling me it’s the starter rating sort of bringing down the average. I’m trying to play in an upcoming 540 and under tournament, but the director is suggesting I’m rated too high given the preliminary rating. Is it possible that you can be underrated if the starter rating was too low. Same with overrated if the starter was too high?

You have a performance rating of 550 based on 86 games, about 40% of the number of games you'd need to have a "Fargo Rating."
You also have an optional assigned guess (starter rating) of 525

The preliminary rating people see, 536P, is a weighted blend of these two. It is at this point 40% based on your performance and 60% based on the guess. As you get more games--closer to 200--the influence of your performance rating grows. At 200 or more games, it is all performance and that performance rating is called a Fargo Rating.
