World Championships!!

Well, I was just invited to the Women's World Championships in Tapai, Taiwan. It will be held April 29-May 3. I am really excited since this will be my first time playing in this event and my first time to leave North America! I have been invited in years past and I turned it down because I felt like I wasn't ready for that task. Finally, I think it is my time!

The only catch with all of this is the struggling economy. Because of this the BCA cannot give the players any type of stipend to get to the event. Therefore, I am looking for a little help. If you would like to make a donation you can do so on my blog.. I offer signed pictures and cueballs in return. I am also going to have a patch that each person that donates or has donated will receive. I will wear the same patch to give recognition to everyone while I play. Soon I will also have T-shirts, hats and other merchandise. If you make a donation and specify what you might be interested in I will send it to you when they are available. I am guessing the trip will cost around $2500. I'm not asking for that full amount from one person (though it would be very generous). This is a group effort. Any little bit helps!

Thank you all in advance...even if you just say congrats!

Sarah

Small donation found its way to paypal.....

Are you going to be at the SBE at the end of this month?? I would like to meet you and so would my buddy. We will force to do sho0ts with us, My buddy wants to meet you in a nice way honest just to F with you. And we will if you are there.

Wish I could, but I am stuck here in Norway... :(

Hopefully I will be able to go to lot more tournaments in the US in the future, but in these financial times I guess it's best to stay at home. Would be cool to move to US one day, but that's for the future.

Ok, I haven't sent much to you Sarah, only $ 30 this time, but atleast I donated. Hope that many more will give the same, or lots more, and that you can manage to get as close to $ 2,500 as possible! That would be awesome!

Good luck!

PS: What about the Pro Travel Fund on the AZ front page? Is that something that you can apply for?

You may want to clarify this post??:confused: It sounds kind of strange.

Fatboy should come through with a nice sized donation for you Sarah.

Thank you so much to everyone! I will have lots of stuff going out tomorrow as long as you don't mind getting more mail from me in about a week.

bdflad...yes, Roy is a good guy even though he doesn't care much for some Americans. It took a lot of work, and a donation to him, to get him to like me!

PETARD...I will be in VF. I am assuming I will see you there?

Thank you again everyone!

Sarah

Alright, so I was confused, while this is a world tournament with invitees, it is not the World Championships, it is the Amway Cup. Melissa Herndon let me know my mistake. Sorry everyone, but I'm still going and it's still the biggest deal to me to date!

I let my passport that I got while in the Army run out and last year I went to the Ukraine....I got my passport in like 3 weeks and it was 100.00 total. I didnt get it expedited because it would have cost 60.00 more and it would have only arrived 2 days sooner...

Melissa beat me to it, I was just about to correct your error.

Funnily enough, we made the same mistake in Spain when one of our girls was invited (Amalia Matas)
She won't be able to go to this one however because of financial problems.
Hopefully she will go to the real World Championships at the end of September in China.

Anyway, hope you do well, I will be rooting for the Brits first and you Sarah, second (sorry)

Thank you again to everyone who made donations today! If you did, you will be receiving your thank you gifts soon. They are going out in a few hours when I get up to go to work. I hope you enjoy them and remember, everyone will be getting a patch in the next week or so too. You don't really have to use it for anything if you don't want to. It is just a sign so everyone that donates knows they are being acknowledged everytime I play!

Thanks again,
Sarah

Even if it isn't a World Championship the AMWAY Cup still pays $ 20,000 to the winner, and it is one of the most popular tournaments in Taiwan!

Get 'em!

Best of luck in Taiwan Sarah. I hope you even amaze yourself this time! Sent ya a small donation for the fund. I'm sure I'll kick in a bit more before you leave as well.

Play hard girl!

"Sleep typing"?

Sarah:

Were you typing this in your sleep? What would that be called -- "sleep typing"? :D

Hey Sarah

Are you going to be playing in the finals event for the Carom Room series in Beloit, WI? I noticed you played in at least one or two of the "Open" events.

Good Luck to you in Taiwan.

Patrick

When I got my passport a few years ago, I had to pay the expedited serivce fee ($60) and it still took a month to get there. Ken is right.

You can get passports at the post office now for alot cheaper.....
Congrats Sarah on your stellar play the past few months....
I would send you some cash but i can barely pay to play in the tourneys around here.
I am sure you are havnig no trouble getting help though....
I wished i had it to give to ya...:sorry:
