Billiards Digest March Issue....1st Cover shot.

Rick, congrats on a very nice accomplishment. That's a great shot of John and deserves to be on the cover of BD. Those "art shots" you did of John were terrific and I know John will treasure them.

BTW, I had an experience 23 years ago that gives me an appreciate of how you felt when you saw your photo on the cover. I had a cover shot (Billiards News) back in 1986 and was absolutely thrilled when I saw my pics. In my case, it was something I had sought to accomplish and once I did, I lost interest in shooting pool tournaments. I suspect this cover shot won't have that effect on you.

Here's my cover from 23 years ago and let me be the first to say that your image of John far surpasses the images I had on that Billiard News cover.

I remember and still have a friend that has that MAG,, i hope you didn't do the spelling .. SPEATH instead of SPAETH that was Conrads weakness.

Sounds like things are going well for you Rick and I'm glad to hear it. BTW, I should have realized that getting that shot on the cover was NOT going to end your efforts at pool photography by the phrase "1st Cover shot" in the title of your original post.:)

Things are OK..

Yeah, I'll keep at it.

THANKS Again.

Good work Rick! You are one hard working guy and you deserve a little recognition. By the way, Rick took a shot of me playing pool that I liked so much that it will be appearing in Pool Wars. He actually made me look like a "player".

Congrat's Rick! I know when the photos I've taken get inside I'm excited, so I can only imagine how ecstatic you are about a cover shot!!! Way to go.

Now that is a great endorsement, and RickS MUST be a GREAT photographer:wink:.

TWO REASONS I will open my Billiards Digest this month.

1. Because your photos were used in the publication.

2. Because Mason King is no longer there.

Now why did you have to go open the Mason jar? Rick is King for a day (actually a month!)

;)

Rick S is DA MAN. I also have some high resolution photograhs that Rick took when I played Shane Van Boening.

(You could have kept the lid on it but didn't.)

I did not know that. He was kind of high on the BD totem pole at one time, I had thought. I perceived him as a good writer, FWIW, even though I did not like some of the descriptive adjectives he used from time to time. I called him out on his use of descriptive adjectives one time in a Letter to the Editor, and he not only printed my Letter to the Editor in the magazine, but he actually made a decent reply.

He sure was, with the title of Managing Editor. 2nd man on the totem pole, under Mike Panazzo. (publisher)

Now, Nick Leider has stepped up and took the position.

I understand he simply got tired of it, and moved on.

Congrats

Your pics are just great. On the cover of BD is well deserved. I'm waiting for my BD to be delivered.

I have one.

I have one of those BN. Your pool pics were always on target!

Thanks

"Pony-Tail Rick" huh........... I think us locals will just have to shorten that to "Pony Boy" or just "Pony". I have other names for ya, but we'll save that for another day.
Anyhoo......grats for the cover Rick. I'm sure there will be more in the future. It seems your pics are getting more popular each year.

Pony....that's what my ex used to call me!! Along with a couple other ones.

I'd hope they are getting more poplular, instead of the opposite. Otherwise, I'm in big trouble.:)

BTW.....I can fix that bare spot on your wall by the pool table. (Did I already mention that to you previously?)

Rick S

Rick - congratulations. You have always done good work and it is about time you started gettng some recognition.

I also have a couple of pictures done by Rick - and my wife has one too.

Rick does good work!!

Each time I look at this photograph, I appreciate it even more.

Rick you've captured with extreme clarity the ruggedness of John's outward physical appearance. In person Brumback seems like a teddy bear when he talks. On the pool table, he looks like a hungry grizzly.

I remember his clothing that day, his presence at the table and only wish I knew how to take photographs like you and Markus. Congratulations, again.

Thanks Mark-Joey+Pushout

I appeciate the compliments....it's been a long road, but when you love the game, it's SO much easier.

I actually look forward to go shoot tournys! I get to see all my old buddies from everywhere. I have friends all over the world, all thanks to pool.

Mark....I haven't sent that shot Of Sunny to her yet! My printer is still packed in the box from the Derby. I have been busy! I'll send it just as soon as I unpack. Soon...I hope!!

THANKS
