Shane vs Pam T

I was there for that.
When i left, she was down 1, but that was about close to midnight. Who knows how much longer they could have played.
They were just going back and forth. But Shane always seemed to be up a little.

Just wondering. I figured SOMEONE who was standing there actually has a computer in their room and would post it.

But so far, no takers

There's only a rare few who will post in the middle of the night or early morning hours on this forum when on site at a pool event. Most people go to sleep. :p

Those who do, though, are sure appreciated by the inquiring minds back home.

You know, someone is gonna have to hang a camera up high off of one of those pillars so that they can stream the action table.

That would be nice.
That way, instead of fighting tooth and nail trying to get a spot to see, and inadvertently molesting the female that was in front of me when the guy playing behind me needed to shoot and squished us into close proximity. (not that i minded cause she was cute and had a nice butt) I could sit somewhere in the venue, watching matches AND have the live stream going on the laptop so i can see what is going on downstairs as well, without actually having to go down there.

Hey, if you're going back there today, then I expect a full report for my Sunday morning reading.

Nope. I won't be back. AND, going last night was a fluke cause i came across some free time that wasn't supposed to happen.

Unfortunately, that will not happen today.

BUT, if i were, i would gladly give the play by play, but i won't be able to.
Plus, if i went up there with time, i'd most likely be focused on robbing the uneducated gamblers that were walking all over the place.

The match was 8 ahead for around the amount stated before. At around 10 pm Shane was up 5, but Pam quickly made a charge with some outs and a few mistakes by Shane. I left at around 11 pm and Shane was about 2 games up at that time. I was told by a reliable source that after many hours and back to even they quit. I was not there for the end though. Just thought I would give what I knew.

It is an interesting game. Nine ball I think Pam takes it easily, probably still takes it with the six out, easier to open up the balls on the break and that one less ball of traffic is far bigger than it would seem like. Ten ball they seem too close to call.

I hate playing hours on end to finish even!

That's a good outcome in a way, it means that in no way did anyone get duped.. they made a totally fair game. Pretty good read by whoever came up with the handicapping. Maybe next time they won't do an ahead set and just race to X games.

Just don't let him put on his pimp suit or it's all over.

Very nice pic

The 5 out to me can read, once the 1-4 are gone then the rest are wild...or are they wild all the time?? No one in this thread posted the match rules. What happens if she scratches, do all her made wild balls spot or all down, and if SVB does the same, what happens to the 5-8 are they spotted???

Generally from what I've experienced balls are not wild unless agreed upon beforehand. All money balls are called. No money balls are spotted unless they go in on the break or a the other player makes one and scratches on the same shot.

I agree, here in the midwest the xx out means no wild balls other than the 9 or 10 depending on the game. Now if the game is te 89 and the six out in ten ball then the 8,9, and 10 would be wild balls and getting to the six or seven in order would be a win.

I have always played it the other way that all balls ARE wild unless otherwise agreed on.

Every time I match up if I give up the 8 then it's wild and is good on the break, combinations, and so on...

When I want it to be anything else then I have to specify it, doesn't count on the break, call 8, etc....

So when I see a post where the game is the five out and the breaks the natural assumption for me is that everything's wild.

Back in the day around 1998 I played a woman at the Smokin Cue in Charlotte and gave her the 3 out wild for $10 a set races to five and we doubled the bet each set. She ended up getting me down $80 and I asked to change the game to the 4 out. This way I could at least put non money balls on the corners. I ended up winning the last double or nothing set 5:4. The five out and the breaks is tough action against anyone who can play a little at all.

I'd have to try that against any person breathing at the expo and I probably don't play as good as Pam does. In fact I am sure I don't play as good.

You got it right. That's the way I always thought it was played too!

I guess they can change up the rules any way they want ahead of time, though.

One time, my room mate was asked to give this New York player, the 3 and out. After they explained to me what the "3 and out" was, I did NOT like that game one bit. Amazingly, my room mate won. Then the guy wanted the 2 and out. Again, my room mate won the cheese. It seemed that this player that wanted the 2 and out had a lot of money and only wanted to play my room mate before a full house. Man, if you can't win with the 2 and out, I think you should not be playing, personanly.

Oh, Mike Davis gave me the 2 and out a few years ago, 5 bucks a game. Needless to say, I have resigned myself to the fact that I won't play pool anymore, at least for the cheese! :p

After a few sets they were even and Svb let her out. She just had a baby less then 48 hours before hand and it was really hurting her to break. She was also playing a kid named scooter right before at the Tar booth a race to 10 for a grand. There were so many people at the booth Allen Hopkins came and made them move because it was blocking all the vendors. lol She ended up losing that 10 7 . Scooter also played svb but I'm not sure how that ended up.

Actually, they weren't playing any sets, it was 10-Ball, 8 ahead for $3500. Once they got back to even they quit due to the reason you stated.

As for the Shane and Scooter match, Scooter was getting the 6-out and the breaks and wound-up losing $1800 to Shane before quitting.

the fact that she had a baby that short of a time before playing at all is what surprised me - that is one tough chick! personally, I would still be in the hospital asking for morphine or something (thus the reason I have no kids yet:embarrassed2:)

Pam never had a lead in the set (at least not when I saw and I was there for most of it). After a few hours she got back to even and Shane took a break. She had a big talk with all her guys and told them she was hurting (sounded like a move to me bc I know she is quite experienced at gambling & is fully aware of how long an ahead set can take) and they tried to get Shane to change the game. He said no way and both sides decided to quit. Most spectators told Shane he should have made her pay to get out of the set or finish it up with the original spot but he's a nice guy and wouldn't do that.

The next day we found out that even though she was "hurt" she continued to play and matched up with someone else right after we left. Shane wasn't very happy to find that out the next day so I'm doubtful he'll want to match up with her. It sounds like a pretty even game but for anyone that was there, Shane really dominated. It would probably have been more even if she hadn't just had her baby (i've seen her play better than she did that night).
