Randi Dugger-Mathews, perhaps better recognized in the pool community as Mrs. Grady Mathews, is fighting a serious battle with the big "C", friends. This is something that the doctors discovered just after Randi and Grady returned home from the Derby City Classic in February. Any of you that know Grady (or Randi) have to know how important Randi has been in Grady's life these past 10 years (or so...).

This is from her support page on caringbridge.org:

"Randi has been diagnosed with stage four breast cancer with metastatic spots in her brain and spine. Her oncologist says that everything is very treatable and will begin those treatments right away.

She has a guest book on caringbridge.org. Let's show some support from the pool community -- for her sake, and for Grady's. This is a tough one; but she is making progress with treatment, and there is hope. This is terrible news.
Randi always has a smile and a kind word for everyone and that smile just makes you feel good even if you are having a bad day.

FWIW, I clicked on the links in your post and couldn't get any of them to work. Can someone else check to see if its just me tonight?

Good luck Randi and Grady your family! Luckily in my life I know more people who beat it than didn't. I am sure as strong as you all are that you will do so as well!

I will be praying for Randy for a recovery, she is a great person and the backbone of Grady.....
I have just lost my best friend yesterday to liver cancer @ the young age of 33. Also, three years ago lost my best friend and father from the same. This is sad news for me and I really cant take this news much more, its just to painful.(sorry) :(:frown::mad:

I met Randi at the Derby this year. She was definitely the "backbone" of Grady. She was soooooooo helpful for the Clinic Grady, Freddy and Danny put on. She seemed to be a hard worker and a very nice person. Grady needs her. Hopefully with her work ethic she can beat the nasty C.

Thank you Mantool, I will try. Sometimes I get so bitter towards this "C" word sometimes because in my heart I really think there is a cure, but there is no money in cures.............Once again thank you very much for your kind words, thank you Brother!!!!

Mantool, I remember the first yr the forum had a private room at the DCC. There was a lot of talk on here about making sure there was a "baby sitter" available at all times to ensure that there were no problems and Randi offered up her services daily for the whole week. She not only said she would do that but when the time came, she did do that. I peeked in a few times during that week to see what was going on and there she was every time playing "room mom". She's a really nice lady & I'm very sorry to hear of her current situation.

Frankie, stay strong my man, stay strong. I'm sorry for the great losses you've endured the last couple of yrs and I know it's tough. As with Randi, sometimes bad things happen to good people. For those of us that are still here on this earth, we can keep their spirit alive through us by not forgetting them and living life to the fullest.
 
Very, very sad news. I hope everyone remembers that the first AZB room at DCC would NOT have been possible without Randi. We needed monitors for the room as a condition set by the hotel....Randi said, "just pencil me in for any times you need." She was in the room most of every day that first year. My most sincere gratitude goes out to her, and my most sincere condolences to a great couple who has never been anything but gracious and friendly to me.
 
My thoughts are with the family. I lost my mom to liver cancer, so every day they can spend together is precious.
 
God bless you Randi. My prayers and thoughts are with you for your family in this challenging time. May wellness start to invade your body and heart and contentment and love surround you.
 
Randi, positive thoughts for you, I hope you put this behind you soon.

I've been lucky to be acquainted with Grady for many years, and learned a great deal. My best to Grady & Randi for many happy days ahead.
 
I met Randi a few years ago when I was running one of the IPT qualifiers in Raleigh. Grady was there doing the challenge matches, and Randi and I had the chance to sit and chat for quite a while. She is truely a lovely lady. She will absolutely be in my prayers for a very quick and complete recovery.

I only met Grady and Randi once.. at the Superman Classic in Metropolis Il. Both of them were very open and friendly and treated me like I was an old friend. This was my first pro tournament and thanks to Randi and Grady as well as Buddy and other players it was a very pleasureable first outing.

Keep up the good fight Randi!
