Who makes STIFF hitting cues ??? Mike Bender ???

Ron Kilby.

Uses a modified carom taper. You wont get any stiffer that that. He is a 3C guy so he comes at it from a different angle.

Steve Klein Also makes a stiff hitting cue.
This is a good option. Modified European (Cone) taper.

My Dieckman has this kind of taper. Just a tad more whip than the Cone which has no flex hitting a pool ball. Not a pool player but I"d think you'd want a little flex but without the vibration I see so often in pool cues especially when hitting a carom ball.

Some of the stiffness comes in the joint that's why the Lambros is mentioned. I remember the old Viking Super Joint. Talk about solid. If that's appealing.

I'd say that if you want a really stiff hit, you should consider a full splice cue. Examples include Whisler, Blackcreek, Komarov...
While taper and tip can make a big difference, I find that on balance full splices will give you a much stiffer hit due to the more direct transmission of force.

My stiffest cues are my Blackcreeks and Josswest, they're definitely stiffer than my Bender.

Arnot-Q, cues with T3 shafts are solid hitting and create very good feedback. I have owned several Benders and would say that they are very similar to T3 shafts but for me the T3 had less deflection.

The T3 is amazingly stiff. My uncle has a T3 shaft on his Cognoscenti break cue. That thing is a battering ram. The T3 is by far the most solid shaft I've ever hit.

I recently started using Arnot's T3 shaft, and I agree completely with these two posts. This is the only laminated shaft I have used, so I can't compare it to the other shafts mentioned in this thread, but the T3 provides a very stiff hit and great feel.

You want a stiff cue?
Bocote front, purpleheart handle, 3/8 pin, stag collar and melamine ferrule.
Compound taper butt and 13.25MM shaft.

If you're willing to try something a little odd, try playing pool with a Schuler carom cue. You'll notice that the carom cue is shorter, the shaft has a conical taper (which feels weirdly fat), and the ferrule is shorter.

Schuler offers a large variety of shafts, so you can switch between a conical carom shaft and a tapered pool shaft. The same might be true for Longoni, which also makes both carom and pool cues.

The Scruggs sneaky pete also has a firm hit; I haven't tried one of his custom cues, but would love to try/buy one. I started with a Scruggs sneaky pete, bought a Predator 314 shaft, and later switched to a Schuler carom cue + American shaft.

If you want something funky you might want to try Dieckman.

Rethunk:

We play with the same shaft! I love the Schuler American shaft. I've been tempted to order a Schuler Ceuleman's shaft just to give it a try. I don't know if the Longoni shafts are interchangeable between pool and carom. It would be nice if they were.

Great shaft, isn't it? I've found that playing pool with the carom shaft can be a blast, though it's hard not to notice the taper while stroking. Talk about a solid hit, though. "Maximum English" takes on a new meaning with a carom cue.

There are several Longoni cues that look great to me, but I've yet to hit with one.
