Thanks Jay, mine is 174. I got home from the Indiana State tourney, and it had arrived. I've been reading it in parts all week, every chance I get to sit for a few miutes. Regrettably, I'm almost done. As I read thru this thing, it makes me long for the early 80's, when life was simple. No family or responsibilities. My main thoughts were much like yours. Playing pool. Gambling and tournies. Spending hours playing $1 and $2 ring games trying to make $100 to cover my pool habit. Then spending hours at the cigar store practicing the few things I learned last week. Trying to get to the top of the pecking order for the area.

Jay, you did the right thing when the guys were planning to rob you. I won't go into detail and ruin it for you guys who are still waiting. But I think that would have been what I would have done too. And I wasn't much bigger than you when I was out playing the different places and people. I will definitely buy another book if you write one.

Oh, I know it's not make believe, but you're still with us and still have a lot of story to tell. Don't leave us hangin' Jay!! Apart from everything that you personally went thru, you've seen so much more. I could listen to good pool stories all day long and you sir have a lot of them!!

Jay is a very respectiful guy and from what I have seen from AZ he might not have enough books to go around. I'm sure he will, that was just a figure of speech. Congratulations on your book Jay.

I really didn't see all that much said about anyone, that hasn't been on the internet already. I really enjoyed Grady's book, and he said some things about people that were really unflattering. I don't thing you were quite as blunt about some of the people as you could have been. But thats fine, you still got the point across about them.

Who will get the LAST numbered book from the First Edition?

Vette might be able to put the southern squeeze on his landscaping crew for enough cash to cover the cost of another book. That way he would have the first and last numbered book.

Remember, after #500, there will be no more numbered books, right Jay?

357/500 hit my Sacramento mailbox yesterday. This is one day I was glad to be feeling sick and take a day off work.

This is a very good read! All the names from the old tournament charts on the wall of The Jointed Cue came to life through your recap and stories, Jay. Being from California, I particularly enjoyed the early tournament info including the Markulis events, all the rooms and action on the west coast, and the Sands stories.

Well done, Jay! Thank you for capturing this exciting time in pool history for us through your eyes!

Number 500 is gone. Someone asked for and received that one. I am just starting on the 400's now. After we reach 499 that will be the last numbered edition sold. I will continue to sign copies of Pool Wars though.

The first printing had 2,000 total books in it (500 numbered books, 1,500 un-numbered). I have already begun sending out larger orders to retailers from this second group of books.

If you want a book signed with a different name you must send those instructions with the order. Otherwise I will sign to the name listed on the order. Sorry about the confusion. What I will do for you if you need to order a second book, is I will pay the postage on the second book. Just leave the postage ($4.95) off, and tell me the full name that was used on the previous order.

I have already done this for a few people who bought one book and decided they wanted a second (or third) one for a friend. I'm thrilled that many people liked it so much that they now buy a copy for a friend.

Thanks Jay, Just got #350 last night. I know you've heard this a few hundred times but here's one more. FANTASTIC JOB.

Very nostalgic for me as you start off in Little Egypt where I lived for nearly 10 years, off and on, during 70's & 80's. Lots of road players came through C'Dale then. Most you have pictued.

Makes me think about playing pool again.

Started reading at 11 AM today and the power went out for 5 hours. 9 PM and I just finished a great book---thanks Jay. Sounds like you've done a lot of good things in your life but this was great.

Family Reading

We are spending the holiday weekend at our cabin in NE PA. We do lots of reading up here, so I threw Pool Wars in my bag with a few other books. Tonight I read some excerpts as we sat around the fire with glasses of wine and soda. Everyone thinks Jay is super cool and even my fifteen year old daughter was impressed (and NOTHING impresses her these days!). She thought the DJ story was cool.

I've probably read the whole book at least twice and keep flipping through and randomly reading the stories repeatedly.

It's not a big thing,will just order another,I look forward to reading it. I just read your Paypal order. It appears as if you and Steve are the same person. You did not state that you wanted it signed to Fast Lenny. Sorry about the mix up. I will be glad to send you another numbered book signed to you, less shipping charges. $19.95 total.

Tell Bill I say hello. He was a very strong shortstop, took a real player to beat him. I saw a few try and fail. Bill Mielke originally came from the Milwaukee area.

P.S. Tell Bill he is in the book. The story about our horrendous accident on the way to Reno. Let him tell you about it. He was in the front seat with me. We got off easy. Keith and Cecil did not fare so well.
