I've lived here in NC for 14 years now and will definitely say it is here. I also lived in Ohio for 19 years and can certainly say that they have some good action there as well. The difference I see is that good tourneys in Ohio would attract good talent statewide while the same level of a talent pool can be found locally here.
I live in Hickory which can lay claim to Tony Watson, Charlie Bryant, Brian Capps and I think Jeff Abernathy lives here as well but I'm not sure.

Not so fast, Voodoo, my friend. Tony Ellin was from Charleston, SC. He was here quite a bit when him and Johnny were tight and Johnny married a girl from here (twice). He told me so, anyway. But, knowing Tony, you might have to check the birth certificate.

I know you meant your list to be helpful, but if you are going by the title of this thread, then some of the names you have associated with the States are not correct.
Hillbilly and Cliff were both born in North Carolina.
Rodney was born in California or Hawaii. I have to ask my room mate, to be sure. And what about Kim Davenport?
Mika and Santos were not born in the States.
Having seen everyone on that list play except Jon K, I'd say they don't wanna load up a car and drive through the south and if they did they should leave NC for last because that's where the bankroll would stop. Jesse and Chad are kind of barbox specialists and aren't necessarily underdogs but 2 or 3 really strong players just can't make it through about 50 of the same caliber from the Tar Heel state. I'd love to see it though.
Iba, Joyner and Hillbilly are both "Tarheels."

He gave quite a few guys cases of PTSD, there's still guys who hit the floor and have nightmares if they hear or see anything related to pool because of him. I heard a rumor he was the leading cause of divorce and bankruptcy around here for a while.:wink:
He beat everyone he played in '91, Jay. That is correct. He's my hero. Him and Ricky Gracyk from Michigan. Nothing better than to be a helluva player and "unpublicized visually."

I have heard from several top players that Texas is king. They say there are so many great players in Texas that nobody knows because they never have to leave the state due to the size. Anybody else here this before?

CJ WILEY is from Missouri. Remember, the title of this thread is which state has PRODUCED the most high caliber players - not where they live now.
And Jamie Baraks is a great player, but I don't think it is fair if you put him on your list for Illinois twice.
I would add Balukis to the NY list as she could play with the men.
