Is there a weak side in your game? Whether it's pocketing balls or putting spin to the left or right side.

Just looking if anyone has too.
thanks

Playing shape to my left has always been a pain for me. I think it has something to do with the fact that I don't like looking at my position windows if I have to walk around the table. It's just plain laziness.

I am ambiodextrous. Therefore, I shoot just as well left handed as I do right handed. That being said, here are my weaknesses:

Power break, left handed. Not that I don't get power, but not as much as right handed.

Consistency for Masse'ing to the left when shooting right handed due to bridging. Therefore, I switch to left handed when masse'ing to the left. And vice versa for masse'ing to the right.

As far as other weaknesses, I am not precise on my jump shots. Hitting the OB is no problem, but pocketing the ball and applying CB follow/draw/side spin is very difficult for me.

I also have a weakness on table length (long) steep cut angle shots when the CB is frozen to the opposite rail. My ball pocketing consistency isn't as good as I'd like it to be.

I can't think of any other weaknesses.

BTW: What is your weak side?

I very much tend to over cut balls to my right. I'm left handed, so this would be to the left for most. I line it up, find the contact point, and blam! Overcut.

wow, i feel lucky i don't have your weaknesses . My weakside I think is pocketing at the left corner pocket specially on 30-45 degree angle. I'm just inconsistent with it.

When putting spin on the cueball, do you find it easier to put left english than right english regardless of where the pocket is?

IMO, most players will apply different amounts of Right vs Left English given the same offset. Key is to recognize it, accept it, and adjust.

The theory I was told is the weak side (using a closed bridge) is the side that pushes the cue tip toward the finger tips. In other words for a right hander, left hand English would be the weak side. The reason given is the weak spot in the bridge is the finger tips aren't as strong as a support as the rest of your hand on the other side.

Moral of the story: Improve your bridge. Now that I'm thinking about the theory doesn't address the open bridge more extensively used in Snooker. So mabe this is all garbage. Need a pro to chime in.

yeah, other people can have it. The easiest way to test is to see which breakshot you prefer in straight pool... left or right side.

Also, try a long backwards cut into the corner. Some people will be twice as accurate shooting into one side as the other.

I am right eyed dominant and cut balls with 85% angles or more better to the left. This is the only place where I notice the difference because this occurs during my drill of cut shots.

Now Charlie Williams was surprised at this as he thought I would be better at cutting balls to the right.

I can't figure this one out theorectically.
