Changing Velocity Pro to Tour Edition

I am going to have the Velocity I have on my Valley 7' now changed to Champion Tour Edition. The Velocity refuses to slow down enough for me to stroke instead of slow-roll a lot of shots. Am I going to have the same problem with the Tour? Thank you. Johnnyt

Yep.
Tour Edition plays like Simonis 760
You wanted fast and got it with Velocity.
Tour Ed will be faster.
Simonis 860 slower.

Yup, they have old, worn thin, tour ed on all the 9-footers at our local room and I HATE the way they play.

You HAVE to get stop, kill or soft roll shape on EVERYTHING.
 
If I'm not mistaken I beleive you had a 7' table. Any of the worsted felts will be too fast for a 7' table. I know what your talking about when you say you can't stroke the ball. In our league there is worsted felt on all the 7' tables and you are slow rolling mostly every shot. The only cloth I know of that is like a worsted but not is 3045 Mercury Ultra. It isn't a worsted and does not play as fast as a worsted but is pretty smoth and not like the wooly bully felt.

Nope, 860HR is slower than Velocity to start with;) but won't change speed later with wear like Championship 3030 does, which speeds up with wear;) Green 860HR plays slower than blue 860HR, I know I just installed the green 860HR on 2 Diamond 9ft ProAm's in Temple, TX, but the 2 9ft ProAm's I recovered before that were with 860 tour blue, which both played faster than the Green 860HR. I'm telling you, green 860HR is the ticket down in Florida if you don't want to deal with humidity, and yet you don't want a real fast cloth, yet you still want a cloth with some kind of speed, just not real fast:D
 
Johnny, keep in mind speed in the playing surface is different than speed coming off the rails. If you table plays fast because you're coming off the rails to far with the cue ball...over shooting where you wanted to be...that has nothing to do with the open playing field surface...that's the cushions being a little to low which causes the table to play artificially fast;)

Thank you all for your input. I'll try raising the rails a bit to see if that helps on my table. I bought the tour addition already, so am stuck with putting it on. I know, I know, I jumped the gun before I got all the answers. Thanks again all. Johnnyt
 
I actually went pick up my table today, found a good deal for a nice brunswick.
I been seeing you guys talk about the velocity lately.

From what I'm getting is its somewhat faster than the 860 and is colorfast and holds speed better over the lifespan. Is this all correct because I got the humidity problem so it would be a good bet with the speed right? I would normally use the simonis but money is a little tighter this time a year and I figure being hopeful it might impress me.

Realkingcobra what's your take on this? Oh and its an 8ft oversized and living in south louisiana in a cool apartment, and gonna be playing alot of one-pocket. I just don't want to be like Slow...I mean Fast Eddies an play like the cue-ball is dragging its butt in the sand.

FYI - if you haven't used the cloth (3030) it can be returned so you're not stuck with it.

Velocity Pro is not good in any kind of humidity at all, I installed it on 12 tables in a room here and unless the air condish is on all the time it slows down considerably, save up and go with the 860HR you will be much happier over time.

Johnnyt has it on a table outside his house (no AC) and says it's too fast. Go figure.
Seems too easy to just blame the cloth when it works fine for some and others have problems.
Humidity affects all cloth so to make a blanket statement about any brand of cloth is not justified.
 
Well here's my take on it....kind of work i do is slow right now so you pinch pennies so i'll just try the velocity.

Right after hurricane season I get begged by the oil companies to OMG come help us oh great bender of steel tubing so we can flow and so people can drive. Kinda just how it is, so if an when I deem it to not be any good, work will have picked up just fine and I can afford to put the best which by everyones apparent choice is the 860hr...that an since I sweat SO MUCH at work, I keep my home chilled out...very chilled out penguins are sliding on the bare slate as i type.

My best friend was so jumpy at the sight of the table he said man it would be so fast without the cloth....lets bring it back to the stone age man! I said no but it was funny and thought I would share.

By the way it is a Brunswick Classic 9' does anyone know what the retail is on that thing its very reminiscent of the old 1890's tables with the tapered legs and its very nice...I got her with the leather cover for $900 and felt like I stole it.

Keeping a cool house minimizes any humidity problems for table cloth.
With regards to Simonis - you won't go wrong with 860, 860HR or 760.
One plus for HR is that ball marks won't be as noticeable. It's somewhat faster than 860 and slower than 760.
While some might think HR is "the nuts" there's nothing wrong with 860 or 760.

Velocity, installed correctly, will play fine until you can swing into Simonis.
And FTR, some folks can't tell the difference between them.
 
Greyghost try your local pool room do you know the owner if so ask him what 860hr will cost. Both my guys gave it to me at cost. I paid around 170 for a 9ft. If you visit frequently they should be will to cut you a deal.
