Need Help Getting Cue Returned From Martyne Bachman

Did you send it through the U S Mail? If so the easiest solution is to call the Postal Inspection Service in your area. They have a way of getting people's attention when it comes to things like mail fraud.

It might not have been her intention to steal the cue when she first asked, but she's clearly stolen the cue. As soon as your name is mentioned, she stops answering emails that only a few minutes earlier she was responding to.

If someone accused me of stealing something that I didn't steal, I'd be doing whatever I could to get the proper word out. Sitting quietly while the pool community is calling you a thief is not good business sense lol.

As your friend, I'm encouraging you to either write this one off or to take it to the next level...

Check your PMs. I am NOT the customer you are referring to but am a friend of his. I also inquired once or twice about cues on her site (via email) and received pretty prompt responses. Once I mentioned YOUR cue, all of a sudden she was stone silent.

I have emailed her a few times since to see if I can get ANY kind of response and have even called, but still, she is silent.

She has stolen the cue plain and simple. You need to lean on her hard. Contact the police, the post office. Hell, contact the attorney general in your area for more you might be able to do. Don't give up and don't ever go away on this issue.

It doesn't make sense if she makes money selling cues and needs to keep her reputation intact, why in the hell would she pull such a move. I can't think of a dumber thing to do if she wants people to buy cues from her in the future.

I would wish you luck in getting your cue back, but it would be a waste of time she isn't giving it back. As Steve said in an earlier post she stole your cue.
 
I agree with everybody who is saying that, regardless of what the original intentions were, there's no way to not consider it theft at this point. It couldn't be made clearer than by her going silent on customers who mention the cue. I don't intend to tell Tony how to proceed, but I'm glad I learned of this incident for my own benefit as a prospective customer.

If she is still associated with Billiards Digest magazine, then they need to know about the AZ community's opinion of her - and her apparently well known shady business tactics, as well...
Does anyone know if that association is still in place?

i dont think it is cuz when i called billiards digest they didnt seem to know how to get a hold of her. and when i emailed them all they could give me was the info on the chalkers page. on top of that, her section in the magazine got cancelled so i dont think they have anything to do with her any more.
 
Have you guys try the legal way? Suing her? Contacting the police? I haven;t read the entire thread but just the original post, so maybe you guys have already answered this. Hope everything works out, that is completely wrong for someone to do such a thing.

Tony, I have to disagree with you here, from the word I have received she is well known for just that. When she was working on the Blue Book Project she had photo shoots for the book, but she was also contacting those who could not attend. She was asking for photo's and information for the book. In some cases she contacted cue makers and asked if they would send a cue to be photographed for the book. Some of those people never received their property back, and for others it took years. You see she is a collector and I suppose that is how she builds her collection in part.

So, in my opinion she is no different than any other thief she takes what doesn't belong to her. Tony, If I were I would contact the Police and file a complaint against her and chalkers.com. I would file it as fraud due to the fact that she obviously never intended to use the cue for it's intended purpose (Magazine Article) and will not return it.

In the end it all comes down to one simple fact, this situation is going to cost her more than if she had just bought the cue in the first place.

When you put the words "FELONY AND THEFT" together you might be suprised how things can change quickly...
 
If the cue isn't at my door on Thursday, I will take the next step. Hopefully all the emails she's gotten the last few days have done something.
 
I sent her an email asking for the return. Mentioned that the Az billiard community is aware of this and that its not a good business practice for Chalkers.
Hope you get your cue back Tony and Martyne gets whats coming to her in the long haul.

Tony, you should take out a full page ad in billiards digest explaining what has transpired & ask for the promp return of the cue or ????....let the world know what a douch she is...oops..i mean THEIF i"ll chip in $50 for the ad

I totally agree but it seems like a current trend unfortunately in the world and it also appears to be happening more on the forum which is a shame.
 
This is the first time I have read this post. I have not been on the board much lately.

I was the one that originally wanted to help Tony get the exposure and contacted Martyne about a magazine article in BD. Tony and I have become friends and I thought the chance for him to get in the magazine would be nothing but positives. (I helped Joe Callaluca do the same and the article was published without any problems)

Bottom-line is I feel really bad. Both for Tony and Danktrees.

Tony and I had the opportunity to hook up with Guycrunch last week in Boston (two great guys) and have food and drinks. I told Tony that this has gone to the point where this has become absolutely rediculous.

It is time to take desperate measures....................if the cue is not returned in the very near future...................Tony needs to prosecute her a$$.

I am sorry that this has worked out this way. I had nothing but good intentions and hadn't never heard of Martynes irresponsible reputation.

One thing is for sure, all of this exposure will rightfully cost Ms. Bachman in the future.
