How many times can a cue be bought and resold before the warranty expires?

Quite a liberal warranty...very open for abuse in my opinion...Best of luck!

Most people are up front if they damage a cue and insist on paying for repairs. Once in a while it bites me on the butt. I even offer to return your money on a new cue if you don't like the hit. I'm not perfect or the best builder but I stand behind my cues.

Life is too short to argue about why a problem occurred. The guy that wants to insist he didn't do anything is the guy that will tell everybody the builder is a piece of ????.

It is my cue which is being reffered here.
First of all i never blamed eric for the cue,i never said he made an inferior cue or finish.I have had this cue for couple of months and i have been trying to get in touch with eric about the issue cue had,I offered to pay for any cost that might invlove. But the problem is where do i contact him?I dont have his email, his address, his tel number... nothing. only thing i have is az id.Guess what his pm's are full , 1day...2 days....1week..1month....2 months everytime i pm his pm are full.I contact every person i know that might have his contact but i dont get anything. All i get to know is he is on vacation and than he is on extended vacation. Finally he comes online and clears his pm,i send him pm and he logs in igonores the pm's as he is just surfing around.
He says this is his hobby, how can it be a hobby when he is making money on cues.He is selling his cues for 2k+.When he is making money on his cues making his cues commercially available thru some dealers how can he say that it is is hobby. If he would have just said to me that it will 10 years for him to look into my cue,i would have gladly waited.I am not a cue dealer,i am just a pool player who loves cues and loves to enjoy and play with all kinds of cues.I dont abuse my cues and never throw them when i loose a game or money.I love them and take care of them.

Coming back to the point in this thread, i never asked for warranty but just wanted to talk to the original cuemaker before i decide to do anything on the cue.How hard u think that should be.

But trust me it was real hard and frustrating to get in touch with him.:o:o:o

I posted on this thread to give my opinion on warrantee issues. It has nothing to do with Eric or that thread.

as a builder i have no control or idea how a cue has been treated or what condition it's in when it hits the secondary market.
so without this information, no guarantees to 2nd owners.
that said, i have helped 2nd owners with minor problems at times, and will continue to do so.
BUT, just to show how this can get out of hand, i had a customer buy a cue twice, [ the double refund cue ]. he did not like the sugar marks in the curly maple, so he then sent it to another cue maker to have the handle replaced. then he wanted to resell the cue and wanted me to guarantee it. i had no way of knowing what was done to the cue so i said no. he went a little nuts after that.
i try to be fair to all customers but, that pool cue guarantee, can be touchy.

Chuck, the rule of thumb has always been, if you touch it, you own it. I work on a lot of cues and if I change the handle to repair something that has moved, I call the maker and tell him I did it. It has always been my policy and it always will be. I respect Cue making first. Anything after that is a pissing contest, We all know what can happen with that.

If it's warpage then I generally build the cue again from scratch. No questions asked. If it's tweaked from damage, as in the "A" joint has internal fractures due to a huge ding in the forearm that obviously points to the cue being whacked on the table, is another story.

Just try buying a used car that's 5 year's old and taking it back to the original dealer for free repair no matter what the reason.

For that matter try taking your 5 year old car that you purchased
from the dealer back for free repair.

If you buy a cue from me and you take reasonable care of it I
will do my best to repair anything that should not have happened
for free. I have replaced two ivory joints in the last 15 years
that failed and I had no problem with the customer because
the cue was otherwise in great condition.

******Arnot tries to be reasonable but he ain't no chump*******

He is fat and sassy but his puppies like him.

I suspect your comments are falling upon deaf ears.

I do not think you did anything wrong on any level, and this thread is just one more thing that was meant to criticize your actions directly or indirectly.

Everyone who matters knows how you were treated, but no matter the entire other thread was down loaded by many before it was pulled.;)

Take Care

As a case maker I stand behind my products forever.

When I had Instroke however my warranty was one year because I figured that a year was enough time for anything that was a manufacturing defect to show up.

I warrantied every part of of the case including those that I did not manufacture like latches. After one year I fixed latches for a fee.

I also did not hold people to the first-owner with receipt requirement except to prove if the case was a year old or less. Otherwise anyone coming up to me at a booth or sending in a case could get it fixed for a low price or free depending on the situation.

Now with JB Cases everything I make is warranteed by me no matter how many owners there are. If it has my name on it then it's guaranteed.

I think cue makers are in a tricky position regarding warpage. I have seen people bend the crap out of their cues in anger and then try to claim that is just warped by itself. I have seen folks wrap cues in a towel in damp conditions and leave it in their car.

At one time in my life I was routinely carrying 32 cues in two Instroke dealers cases to tournaments around the world. Some of the brands (both USA and Foreign made) I had stored and carried in the same manner would move and develop a warp in a short time while others would not no matter what the climate and conditions.

I think that it's risky for a small cuemaker to have a gurantee against warpage and that this shows a lot of confidence in their product.

For a large manufacturer it also shows confidence but to me it's more of a marketing tool built around acceptable risk.

I would think that warrranties should always be transferable. The product doesn't know who owns it so it shouldn't matter to the company.
