First the important thing: It sounds like Terry is out of danger. I was able to talk to him a few minutes today but then he had to talk to the medical team. They are planning to move him to another hospital or long term health care facility for awhile and then he will be going home. I'm not real clear on this, Terry was a little loopy from the drugs and we were interrupted before I could clarify things. Regardless, they are planning to move him away from the level of care he has been getting so it seems that the major danger has passed. Prayers and positive thoughts no doubt played some part in that. Thanks to everyone once again for them and please don't quit now. Terry isn't out of the woods yet.

The gift idea has mushroomed unexpectedly. People have offered $170 total and we have nine more people that want to be involved but haven't said what they want to contribute. Because Terry is moving about the balloon bouquet or something similar would just be a pain to move around. That leaves either a smaller gift or gifts to remind him of his friends on AZB or something that he could get long term use out of.

So far the suggestions are:

AZB T-Shirts

Portable DVD player and DVD's

JoeyA and others made me aware there are teddy bears dressed as policemen. Sending Terry a "Terrybear" could be fun.

I'm wide open to suggestions. We have far more offered than we need for just a nice "reminder gift" like the balloons, T-Shirt, or something similar but we can all give smaller amounts and nobody that wishes to be involved be left out if we don't need all of the money offered.

If we spend all of the money available a DVD player and a gift certificate to accu-stats sounds nice to me. Buying DVD's from Accu-stats or other sources might be nice but I have no idea what Terry already has. I know he has some pool DVD's and I figured I would send him a few I have along with an Accu-Stats catalog to get things started if we go this route.

Terry is still bedridden and will be largely bedridden for quite awhile yet I believe so something to occupy his time would be great.

I did get his home address to ship to.

This brings everyone up to date, or at least as much as I am. Please feel free to offer other ideas or thoughts.

I think he'd get a laugh if he got a bunch of Terry-Bears. Maybe each member who wants to participate could send him one with a little card attached. Imagine all the different kinds he'd get in the mail, and we could try to arrange it that we all mail them out on the same day :)

In the other thread I said I'd be good for $20 and I love the laptop idea. I'd go a little more if it was needed to get that project done. I'm very happy to hear that some major hurdles have been cleared.

That is a fun idea! He would get a kick out of little bears arriving from all over. Speaking of arrivals, what is the latest word on your arrival you have been waiting on? :D

This might be considered a bit cold on my part..it is with some of my family. I believe in giving money or a gift cert that I KNOW he/she wants and will use. I've got too many gifts over the years that I'll never use or wanted in the first place.

Now that being said...where do I send the money? Whatever you all decicde is fine with me. Johnnyt

Can you check with his wife to see if they already have a portable DVD player ?? If not, then I think the player & gift cert for DVDs is a great idea as he will enjoy them now and after he is recovered.

I believe self interest may carry the day. I know that Terry has been unable to get down to his computer to get on the net so a laptop might get him back on the forum sooner, we would all benefit from that. At a guess with tax and shipping we are about halfway where we need to be in firm commitments and just over ten people have committed to giving something without naming an amount. Got to get hard numbers to know where we are at and see if the laptop is actually available.

I wished I could afford to offer something but I myself have to sit through my girlfriends 3-hour surgery Monday. I'm glad Terry is ok and I was praying for him. I didnt know him real well and had a few pm's to him on here and he always seemed like a great guy. Will continue to pray.

PS-I'd also like to add my 3rd cousin to the prayer list, he had throat cancer and was in remission for 6 years until about a month or two ago and its come back in or near his shoulder. We are all praying for him here and he knows he can beat it as he has before so his spirits are up.

This prayer is for Terry and George (my cousin)!!

That's what I was thinking :) And meaningful, too.

*Lynessa is ready to come out... She's dropped and I can feel her pushing down. I'm feeling some pain and can't walk around much. It sucks. I'm now pretty much homebound except for prenatal appointments and childbirth classes.

Might be best to make sure the long term care facility has a wireless connection first. I really do like the idea and would be more than happy to send what little I could to put towards it. I know when I was laid up for a week due to back problems this past winter, I would've gone crazy without my laptop. The amount of tv channels I have to choose from is insane but more times than not, there isn't anything worth watching. If they have a wireless connection, I think a laptop would be the best route. DVD player & accu stats gift cert as a back up. Just my .02

If people do go the laptop route, you can make sure it has a DVD player built in.

The gift was just something that came to mind after the other thread started. The prayer and positive thoughts are far more important. I told Terry today that the prayer thread had went to nine pages in a few days and he was very touched. Everyone that wishes to give and can that is fine but that isn't the important thing.

Good luck to your girlfriend in her surgery and George in his new battle.

Seems most are happy with the laptop idea, being sure it also has a DVD player. Unless somebody has a brilliant idea about something else we will go with that. I will be out of town most of the day, maybe all day tomorrow, so I'll probably be day after tomorrow getting information out to everyone.

If you guys go the DVD route TAR will donate one of each DVD in our catalog so he has something to watch. If you go another way we will put the same package up for auction starting at a $1 let it run for three days and donate whatever it brings.

Terry is a great person and all of us at TAR wish him and his family well.

Her's is not that serious its just long. George has me scared and its cancer that has come back. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. Make sure Terry knows we have another thread about him and its all good as well. Matter of fact I'll try to get him on my brohters church prayer list here in town as well as I dont go:(

Thanks for the updates on him! Keep us updated if he cant get on. I know he can pull through and will!
 
i might have a laptop for Terry, I use up alot of computers and give them away. I will have to make a few calls and hopefully I still have one, I get a new machine every few months at both my houses so i give away alot of computers. Since I closed the bix this last year that has slowed doen a bit. I will call tomarroe and see. If i dont I'll give 200 for a piece of a new machine.

That is great if it works out Eric. Terry is like gold to this site and I can't wait to see him feel better. Alcatraz was good and we all got home safe and sound I had a ton of green beans to pick when I got home:D

I've got a really nice genuine Elephant ear wrap in black. I wil donate the wrap for Terry, just send Hu $50 and he can PM me where to ship. If cue sales were better, I would donate a cue. Praying for you, Terry.
