i like this list with the exception of rodney. i would substitute gabe instead. rodney just doesn't impress me.
Rodney has a serious gear when he hits it...Before he went away for them years he could play with anybody.
The MCup is a completely different animal than a "regular" tournament or a money match. Whether a player can "take to that animal" or not is highly speculative.
Rodney embraces this animal and there's much to be said for that.
Just 'cause someone may have beaten Orcullo in a money match and beaten the top 10 in the world in the last few months does not mean that player has the makeup to succeed in the MCup.
Look at Tiger's Ryder Cup record...

You're absolutely right.
I think Rodney's 9-ball break, the game played in the Mosconi Cup consisting of singles and doubles, would be an asset. He truly enjoys a sterling track record as an excellent team player, and his high-profile event experience also complements his strength on a field of green. Plus, everybody really likes Rodney. What's not to like?! :smile:
Vegas, the venue site, IMHO, is full of distractions. Though it is big enough to accommodate the Mosconi Cup, some American team members in the past were not as focused, for lack of a better word, as their European counterparts in Vegas.
There are a lot of distractions in this town. I don't need to list them all. You know what they are.
I hope this year that whoever Team USA team captain is that they try to instill a spirit of team support and stick together throughout the entirety of the event. After it's over, they can enjoy the distractions, but during the Mosconi Cup, it would be advantageous for Team USA to approach this a little bit differently than they have in the past. :smile:
That was part of my point..... Talk to pro players and you get a real good sense of how pathetic Earl is.... He's hated, not because of how he plays but how he acts while playing. Find one that enjoys playing Earl... If Earl was a tennis pro, on the PGA Tour, or any other sport for that matter he would have been banned long ago. Johnny and Earl were here doing their tour a while back. Did I go? NO!!! If Johnny comes back here with Varner will I go? Yes!!! If he tried his crap in my neck of the woods he'd get a good dudu chop! "Earl, we're both going to the hospital?" "HUH??? BOTH OF US?" "Yeah, you to get my foot out of your *ss and me to get my shoe....." LOL

As one example, the player pictured below on the left, has played against Earl many times, and each match has been very entertaining. In fact, the crowd loved it.
This shot was taken at the 2003 Joss Tour event in Classic Billiards in Rochester.
Earl and this opponent ended up in the finals, which went hill-hill. It was videotaped by a railbird, and what a nail-biter! Earl was a perfect gentleman the entire match and actually looked as if he was enjoying himself, even when he was stuck during the match. :smile:
However, he did end up winning!

Thanks for the post Jennie! It makes it much easier to make my point. Keith and Earl have been friends forever and have the upmost respect for each other and there are other players in the same boat, and Earl doesn't pull his routine while playing them, I will give him that.... BUT Earls schtick is bad for the Mosconi Cup, the game, the USA, his team mates, opponents, etc.... and in my opinion has zero entertainment value. It's kind of like watching a train wreck. Keiths schtick however IS good for the game and is pure entertainment! All this talk about Earl being on the team for "entertainment value" and they would be much better off having a Keith that hasn't played in a few years if they want "entertainment value"..... I know that you don't like Keith being used as an entertainer but I think you may get my point.

That's a great pic but what I want to know is what camera settings did you use to keep the glare off of Dee and Howards heads from ruining the picture? LOL
Deuel is one of the most consistent and dangerous players in every event he enters. If he was not to make the team it would be pure robbery. I can think of only one player in the USA who would be more of a lock on the team then him and that is SVB.
