Shane Vs. Efren - Ten Ball

I think he is the best American Player.

Besides a strong game on the big track...he plays pretty sporty on the bar box as well.

Thanks again Jay for trying to get some action going

He will beat most all of them on 4 inch pockets. This I know. I've seen him give great players big spots on tight tables. Example, He gave Sparky like the 6 and last 4 (maybe 3) and robbed him on a 4 inch pocket table. That is amazing.

As far as I'm concerned that one's history and I don't feel like I was hard on anybody. My problem is that I expect people to be as good as their word. And that applies to me too. Bottom line - don't say something you don't mean and don't say something you won't follow through on. Passing the buck to someone else doesn't fly either.

Integrity and honor used to be the foundation of many men's character. Their word was their bond. A hand shake was all it took to make a deal, sometimes for substantial amounts of money. That quality seems to be eroding in present day society. I guess in this respect, I'm still a dinosaur.

Hey Jay...I'm a country boy and a hand shake still goes a long ways around here. I think that Lenny had nearly the same intentions as you and was just wanting to help make a game....You had the game and lost it...that happens all the time as we all know. But I think that a lot of what you were saying was directed more at Scott because he threw out a challenge and then set stipulations when called on it.

I didn't fault Lenny for what he did unless he had a vested interest in it and then had a change of heart himself...that would have been wrong...and do not think that was the case...but I think you were still harsh with Lenny and the reason for that I am not sure...

I'm no more upset that this match didn't happen as the Scott/Efren match....could care less really...I don't get excited until the coin flips or the lag is on. Don't get me wrong here Lenny can stick up for himself but I thought you might have had an epiphany or something after this match fell through.....later Jay and better luck next time.......

I had the pleasure of hanging out with Jose Parica alot at this past years Derby City. We talked about alot of things. I was asking him if he thought Shane could beat the top Philipinos day in and day out and this is what he said. He said Shane doesnt have all the weapons to beat Alex, Dennis and Bustamante. He said Shane has two weapons, big break and shiotmaking. He said the Philipinos have big break, shotmaking, postion play, kicking, safeties all the weapons. He said him and Efren are too old now..... and just in case you think he is being biased toward Philipinos when I asked him for his money who is the best 9 or 10 ball player in the world right now he turned around an pointed right at Johnny Archer. He said that Archer has proven it for 15 to 20 years. Jose said since himself, Efren and Bustamante they have won 1 maybe two player of the year awards and he laughed and said Johnny has won like 15!

I wonder if more people would be willing to gamble with Archer if he had a shot clock on him.

No question Johnny is a skilled and intimidating opponent, but surely his slow play is a turn off for any would be challengers, too.

Shane called efren a "coward" or similar word when efren wanted to play 9 ball instead of 10 ball at the dcc earlier this year. He said to efren something to the affect of play a real man's game, 10 ball, not 9 ball.

Why doesn't Shane play efren a real man's game: One pocket. Efren already played Shane his game. It should go the other way now, especially since its obvious Efren has not been a top 9 ball/10 ball player for at least 5 years now.

I actually think its a shame for Shane to not play all the games. He is the best chance for a new all around BEST player. He obviously loves pool, is not lazy, and has good habits.

I'd love to see him get hooked up with Artie B and really learn one pocket. He would be the best player for the next 30 years, even after his 10 ball game goes down due to older age, as we are now witnessing with Efren.

In the end we all want to see great pool. Shane is the best hope we have of it, if he would work on all the games. He could become the closest thing to the next efren.

Shane shouldn't be talking like that.If he really said those words to Efren,he can also call himself a coward for not playing Lee Van Corteza at DCC.Corteza was there ready to play shane anytime. He would even stay there for the whole week just to play shane but shane won't give him any action.

Just wondering, what does Shane trying to prove and he is chasing Efren for an action? Why not Alex Pagulayan?Lee Van Corteza?or probably Yang if they get a chance to meet.I respect Shane as he is one of the best pool player in the new generation but throwing those words to a legend like Efren is just a shame!

He normally doesnt get as much credit as he should. Shane is a very good player and will get better..hopefully he travels down to GA to show us who is the best American Player.

I do not expect Jay to realize getting pissed at me was wrong at all, its just not his nature to be wrong I am sure, I even can be stubborn and not see where others are coming from. I simply posted the challenge up for Scott on his behalf, I have no vested interest in it as I was not backing Scott. I did want it to happen at Kolbys so I could stream it and record it but whether it happened there or someplace else was up to the players and backers.

I spoke with one of Efren's backers and he said it was okay for me to post this, he said they would be fine with Efren playing Scott at Kolbys. When I said Jay was not a backer, well he might have been with Alex but not with this group who spoke to Scott or me as I asked. I do hope that the game happens sometime when its good for them both and those involved.

I was not going to reply but just like Scott changing his mind about his challenge which is beyond my control, Efren changing his mind is beyond Jays control, $hit happens. It is funny though how similar the situation is and most people who know me know that when I say something I follow through on it, I cannot make others do what they say though. Jay might have been a little rough on me but I can handle it, I am from NY and have dealt with much worse in my 30 years then most people have who are 60 years old.

Tap, tap, tap. I remember the days when a mans word ment everything.

Shane should just hop on a plane to Georgia and play Johnny some pool. The Philipinos are tough but if he is willing to play Efren then why not try Johnny. Is Johnny too good for Shane?

Jay..Have you heard of them trying to match up? I had heard Archer say that Shane can come to GA and get some action.

Why should Shane go to Georgia? They will both be at Derby, do you want to stake Johnny? I will stake Shane against him in 10 ball, if he is the best American player this should be a good match.

If you actually read the thread you would of seen that Shane never said anything of the sort to Efren. Shane sent an email to his girlfriend and said that nine ball was for pu$$ies, what does this have to do with Efren?. Your bringing up the topic again stirs the pot and people like yourself who don't read the whole story start spreading untrue rumors.

Shane has given a lot of action to Alex, Lee Van, Efren, Busta, etc... He has won and lost plenty of sets with them. Do you know anyone else who has gambled more with the great players from the Philippine's? I didn't think so.

I heard from a few people that Johnny doesn't want to play Shane on a Diamond and Shane doesn't want to play Johnny on a Gold Crown. Anybody heard anything similar?

That is amazing. A little reminder of what top-level really means.

archer

if johnny and shane matched up in atlanta there would be no shortage of money on johnny. this has potential to be biggest money match in many, many years if shane got enough $$$$ behind him - its covered!

I was getting so hyped up and made plans to drive to LA for this, and it went pfffft??? Daym! It was just like getting a hard on in a convent full of nuns!

I had heard that also, but when talking with Johnny at the Derby he had said he would only play Shane at his room on a 4" G.C.

If anyone wants to go to Georgia and play Johnny on that table I am betting on Johnny!
