We have a 97 yr old player in our local leagues. He has been featured in our local paper, but I want to see him in a national publication, before he dies. He is a story, just waiting to be discovered. He has taught litterally hundreds of players, to play pool. He was a Golden Gloves coach, for 50 years. At age 80 he knocked out a guy who attacked him....WITH ONE PUNCH. At 97 he plays as a 3 or 4 in the leagues & is a force to be reckoned with. IS THERE A MAGAZINE THAT WOULD BE INTERESTED?...JER

Jer, out here in the North West we have a Billiards Publication that covers California, Oregon, AZ, New Mexico, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Utah, and Colorado. The publication is called "On the Break" and it is owned by Don "Cheese" Akerlow and his wife. They are great people and I suspect that they may support you and Publicize an article for you if you right and submit it to them. They are strong supporters of Pool Leagues and all forms of Billiards in general including live streaming events.

I don't want to steal your thread but this is sort of on topic. I don't know if any of you have heard of George Rude. He lives in Dayton OH and was a world class straight pool player from the early 30s through the 60s and 70s. He is about 95 now and went into a rest home about a year ago. He still played in the weekly nine-ball and one-hole tournaments at Airways room in Dayton until he went into the home and often finished in the money. On his 89th birthday he ran 85 balls at straight pool. He has been wrote up about, a number of times in the different magazines. Pool players who still play very well at very old age usually have their background in straight pool where perfect position play is needed for good play. You don't need those young eyes when you always have short, easy shots.

If you say that he plays as a 3 or 4 in the leagues, I assume that you mean an APA league. If that's the case, the national APA magazine would surely write up a small spot on him. Contact your local APA league operator and have them talk to the headquarters about it.
