For under 8k what table would you buy?

Mizerak table with the Craftsman warranty from Sears. A solid table, if you don't care that the playing surface is wood and the legs wobble. Other than that, it's a fine table.

Think of how many MORE strippers you could have if you eschewed the Diamond or Brunswick for the Sears Mizerak...

Believe me when I say the strippers don't care...

If I were to buy another table and had that much money to spend I would search long and hard and try to find a really nice antique Brunswick.
 
I had a brand new Olhausen table, sold it and bought a diamond pro am, Could not be happier. Just my.02
 
Probably the Diamond Pro,a restored Brunswick Anniversary,Centennial,or Gold Crown I.There isn't a whole lot out there that will hold their value and play like these tables.

I haven't had the pleasure of playing on this one yet,but I have disassembled one,I hear it's a very nice playing table.By the construction alone, I would think that it's gotta be pretty great.

if u can find a gold crown v for under 8 grand U SHOULD BY IT...I got a few gold crown 3 with 4 kit installed..........pro 8 foot tables for sale with a light, lazy Susan levelers..used 2,500..

Buy a classic

If it were me I would probably try to buy an older classic table. Perhaps an older Brunswick Gold Crown 1* or 2, an Anniversary or even a Centennial. These older tables tend to be heavier than contemporary boxes and when properly set up play as well or better than anything new. I like this idea because these tables will conceivably appreciate in value. Of course since I own four classic tables myself I might be a bit bias. I don't know where you're located, but good place to start would be at http://www.classicbilliards.net/html/antiquepooltablesgallery.cfm I have bought two tables from Ken Hash in the past and have always been satisfied by his honesty and forthrightness. No he is not my cousin and I don't get a kickback. Just a thought....

*If you buy a Gold Crown 1, be certain that it has slate top. Brunswick actually used Bluestone on some of these older Gold Crowns, rather than slate.
 
Would you guys that say the pro am still give the same answer if the table wasn't on the first floor and you had to get it with a three piece slate instead of the one piece? Put another way, does a pro am with a three piece slate play much different than the professional with the three piece slate?
 
If I were to buy another table it would be a Daimond. I would wait until after a tournament and buy one of those. Besides getting a good bargain chances are it was played on by many top pros.
 
I'd get a used Gold Crown, fine tune it how you like it, set it up with Simonis - and be out @ $2k.

Imagine how many strippers you'd get with the remaining $6k?

I agree with this 99%; because I wouldn't limit myself to Brunswick only. I would love to have a very well-kept antique table over a new one any day.

Here's to hoping we both get what we want! (but I don't have 8G!:frown:)
