Lee Brett making a splash at the U.S. Open

Also he prob can run more than 47 on a snooker table... In fact if he isn't competing I'd say he's prob run 100 with no heat on him. This is the only nice thing I have to say about him.

I can't help how I feel, he really stabbed a great person in the back and doesn't deserve any of your help. All of what I've said about his talent is true. I've been encouraged to say it in an effort to save you guys money. that's all

ok its obvious that you hate Lee. i have never seen him play, but at this point i only have your word about his performance when you saw him play. here is what i do know: Lee brought up using the V grip in a thread and questioned if other instructors were teaching this. another poster kindly provided an excellent link to show what Lee was talking about. this one thing instantly helped my game. it is the only thing i have ever read on AZ that had this kind of impact on my game. unfortunately the thread got side tracked and Lee lost it when provoked then mr wilson dropped the ban hammer. i felt and still feel that this forum was diminished by that. if Lee ends up anywhere near me i'll definitely be interested in seeing what he has to offer. i dont care what you say about him or what you think his APA rating is. hopefully he'll be released from cyber jail and still willing to post on here.

You bring up some excellent points as most of our members do from time to time. Even I come up with some semi-valubable information every now and then.

While I don't know any of the detractors of Lee, they are either truthful or they are not.

It is nice to use the forum as an information gathering tool and while I don't know everyone on the forum, I appreciate their input.

Lee has an opportunity to do some positive things and only he has control over his actions. There is no pot of gold waiting for Lee or anyone else out there. You reap what you sow. With information traveling at cyberspace speed, any wrong doings by Lee or anyone else will soon be found out. I am just ever so thankful that all of my wrong-doings haven't been plastered across the Internet. It could be embarassing to say the least. Hopefully, I've learned from my mistakes and will make better decisions in the future.

I try to carry myself in a respectful manner in this forum and away from the forum but don't always do the right thing or the smart thing.

I believe that Lee's detractors have said their piece and will be happy to tell all of us, "I told you so" when their opportunity comes. And all Lee has to do is prove them wrong. Words don't have any weight unless they are backed by actions so any response by Lee would only fan the flame.

Anyone can come on the forum and smear another person's good name. It can easily be done anonymously without fear of retributution. I'm not saying this is the case here but I'm not saying it is not. I don't know and it probably doesn't make any difference now. This isn't a court and we're not a jury but we're all entitled to our opinions.

It would seem to me that the prudent thing for Lee's detractors to do is simply wait and see if he uses any poor judgment. Even an old playwright once said, "Thou doth protest too much". That hasn't been the case here so far but it could become just that.

I think the forum members have been cautioned enough and any further beating of the drums would fit right into the quote above.

All I can say, is so far Lee seems to be on the right path and has shown none of the characteristics lambasted by his detractors.

It really is up to each man to work out his own salvation.

I am with you on this. I saw the video and it has helped my game also and he is ok in my book.
 
Id like to go on the record as the guy who posts here frequently that knows Lee the best. He is a good guy with good intentions. He wants to help people with their game and also make enough money to survive. He has a passion for pool and is trying to make a name for himself.

I took a few short lessons with Lee while he was living in Toronto and I think with a few more lessons or a refresher lesson here and there that I would improve greatly. I have a few flaws in my game which Lee recognized right away and started correcting.

Every single person who posts on here has one time had to give someone else the short end of the stick, if he did something THAT bad, shoot him a PM and ask him about it. He may tell you to 'go eff yourself' but atleast you made an effort.

I just got done reading this thread up to this point. There's something that struck my mind while I went through each post. It's an interestingly apt maxim.

"Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach."

Who are we to knock someone's teaching ability based on their current level of play? If Scott Lee aged to the point of not being able to stand or hold a cue, does that mean he lost the knowledge he can impart unto students, too? I don't think so.

i'm not sure i get this post. the only one saying he cant shoot is jessebfan and its quite clear that he is not exactly partial. also if scott lee ages to the point where he cant hold a cue, he'll prolly be dead and still able to whip most of us that post on here. just b/c they are instructors dont imagine they cant play. hey they make a good living at pool.

Lee showed me some of his moves tonight and the man has some really solid info (and I'm a hard sell). His "V" technique for the backhand is really good. I never really had any technique for my backhand other than to be loose.

I'm looking forward to practicing what he showed me.

TK and Kevin know their s%$t. Both are pretty good judges of character. I've heard what that guy did to earn a bad rep around here (Columbia). It makes me want to get in his face. Alot of people can go out of town, smile pretty and talk themselves up like an upstanding person. But get the low down from where they've been before putting halos around their heads.

I too agree that Lee is in the driver's seat as to where he goes with this.

I think I should clarify a couple of things. Mark Cantrill, of Cue Sports International, came to me about Lee and what he was doing. We talked about it and decided to help Lee get into an OB Cue, a 108 series, and see what he can do with it. Lee has an opportunity to go out into the world and make a name for himself. If he is successful, then he will earn the respect of others. If not, then at least he tried.

I don't know of any of Lee's past as I only met him this last week. He seemed like a nice guy to me. I wish him all the best. Pool is a tough business to make a living in.

By the way, how did you do in the Big Easy tournament?

Dude, I always put my best foot forward with you and then out of left field you leave a smart-assed condescending comment - as if I'm an "information sucker." Lee's info isn't a "pool secret" - it's decent fundamental info. It's a secret to you because - like always - you won't pay for a pool lesson where I don't mind paying to learn (and then you knock others for keeping "secrets").

So, in conclusion... I'll keep being nice to you (as usual) even though you're a natural d1ckhead on here (and prob are in person as well). I'll leave it at that-- this thread isn't a PJ thread-- it's a Lee Brett thread. I'm sure if we actually met - playing pool wouldn't happen.

It was fine. There were 64 players. I came in 13-16th. If you had been listening to all of the BigTruck stream you would have heard me touting the best shafts on the market. Yeah, it was OBCue.. I don't want tyou losing any sleep over which shaft I was touting.. :grin:

I ran into Scotty Townsend and he had problems shooting with a tip that was giving him trouble and I had him stuck and bleeding (racing to 7 on a bar table). I had him 3-1, when he fluked in a nine ball on a carom/kick and then he won another game and so on and so on until it was hill/hill and he managed to finish me off. The guy was SO LUCKY, he should have bought lottery tickets on Saturday. Sunday was a different story. He lost to our local young gun Trey Baker. I don't think I will be doing commentary and playing in the tournaments unless its after I get knocked out of the tournament. They two don't mix. I think its kind of like being the tournament director and playing at the same time. lol

I figured you already knew that but you are absolutely right, you can't wear two hats requiring different mindsets at the same time and do well or at least it is extremely rare. Bigtruck didn't get far in the tourney either, too many irons in the fire. The same is true of instructors, it is very hard to switch modes between competitive mode and the giving mode your other duties require. You can do both things very well, just not at the same time. The time taken away from getting ready to compete hurts but I think the big issue is switching mental gears.

I did watch your match with Scotty and have to say you are absolutely right, you had him on the ropes. A couple of rolls and a little luck put him back in the match and then it was a good one to watch until the last ball fell.

I have been noticing that Buffalo supports up and coming pool players. Another of his employees, Bobby H, won a decent sized event at Buffalo's own place beating Jamie Farrell and Scotty along the way. Other of his employees have placed very well, maybe more winners I don't recall. My hat is off to the people like Casey(SP?) at the Big Easy and Buffalo that support pool in large ways and small!

Early planning stages now but the Big Easy is talking about another big event the weekend after Mardi Gras, as you know.

I noticed that it seemed like all the action headed to Buff's after the tourney at the big easy with Scotty, Jamie Farrell, and a small herd of others from the barbox tourney headed to the big track to gamble.
