Action at the Open

Can anyone who was there fill us in on some of the money games that took place? Thanks

Yep, Friday night, Warren and Watson did 8 ahead for at least $5K. Lasted all night, with Watson getting the seven. He was victorious.

Saturday night, Efren had a one pocket match against Claude, hails from Florida. Efren was waiting for Stalev to show up but he never did so he ended up playing Claude because he was bored and he did it good naturedly.

He gave Claude a clinic in one pocket and everone who was watching was not disappointed at all because the Magician showed why he is called that moniker.

They were just playing for peanuts but you could really tell from the way that Efren played that he is really far more superior than the rest of these wannabes.

Warren and Watson again, this time it's 9 ahead for at least $7K with Watson getting the eight and this time it was Warren who prevailed.

I did watch the Scott Frost/Billy Incardona match. Scott was giving Billy 10/6 for 500 bananas a game. After about 3 hours they quit even............mike

Wow. That says lots about the level of Scott's game. I can't imagine that if they were both in their prime, Scott could have given him 9-7. That 10-6 is a pretty heavy load.

Sylver playing Ron Wiseman even one pocket for 300/game. Played for hours, not sure how it ended up, had to go to sleep. Marco Marquez playing 8 ahead with Shane Van Boening for a couple of thousand - again, I had to go to sleep and not sure how it came out.

It was reported elsewhere on this board that Shane won that after hours match.

I tend to agree. Even today, if it goes long enough, I like Billy to finally wear him down. Scott is carrying a lot of weight there.

> Who is this Warren that was giving Tony Watson the 7? Sounds more like a game James Walden would give up. Whoever he is,he's a BAD MOFO if he thinks for an instant he can win giving Tony a spot like that. I know Tony gave Eric Durbin the last 2 or the 8 and won, which shocked me because at the time,I was convinced Eric played better than Corey,Train, and Charlie Williams. Every time I saw Eric play,he took it down, offering ridiculous weight to players like Danny Cook and Ike Runnels, and destroyed them,so to spot him and win,is just insane. Tommy D.

lil jon played wiseman....race to 21....first and second nite ronnie wins, lil jon wins third at 2.5k or more...they were both barking about a 5k match...didnt see that tho...

It must be Kiamco, you are right 'he's a BAD MOFO'! Not flashy, but top-notch. No BS, this guy is for real and can come with whatever it takes. I saw him play lots at Cambridge and Norfolk and I assure you that he is in the top 20 in the world.

Oh, Ussery had his nose open the first night and lost all he had on him, betting it up with all until he was spent. IIRC, he gave a Donny from FL the 8 and did not win.

i am sure that business was done like always when 2 road players meet there is a lil worm in the water just waiting on the side bets.just like ussery ran into. you know i also watch kiamco give lil'stevie the 8 @wilmington and the same thing happened lil'stevie won the first night very easily and the next night when all the side bets got right kiamco ran right through him.when are people gonna learn.

Chris Bartrum

I heard Chris Bartrum won about 15,000 playing walden, watson, and scott frost. Can anybody elaborate on that action?

Kwilson,

Totally ignorant statement on your part.

Business being done? When will people learn?

I'd like to hear what you base someone losing one night and winning the next night on.

Lil Jon & Chamat

Did the Lil Jon - Chamat match up ever materialize? I heard LJ was getting the same ridiculous spot that he got at the DCC. If anyone was there I would love to hear the results.

You got it right Walt, that was Kiamco. He was kinda under the weather the firs night that they played so Tony got that one.

Besides, the next night the bet was bigger and a lot more on the sides, so he had to win.

He might decide to cruise by our neighborhood, and I'll let you know if and when he does.

I had never seen Billy Incardone play pool, only having met him within the last 4 or 5 years or so. However, I have heard numerous stories about Billy in action from my counterpart, some of them quite funny. :D

I only made it over to Q-Masters two nights. However, I did try to keep up with the action smut! :p

During the middle of the week, Billy Incardone and LilJon got to barking in front of the Chesapeake Conference Center about playing some one-pocket EVEN. Liljon didn't hesitate one bit, and Billy couldn't wait to depart for Q-Masters to begin. They played for a pretty nice chunk of change, and Billy Incardone pocketed the dough.

One night, B.J. Ussery had his nostrils wide open and wanted to play Donny from Florida, spotting him the 8 in 9-ball. I was surprised at B.J. granting Donny such a huge spot, being that Donny took down Ronnie Wiseman EVEN the night before. The set was for an undisclosed amount, but B.J. was taking all side bets.

The side bets were plentiful, and it exceeded the amount of cash B.J. Ussery had on hand. So he excused himself for a brief moment to go to an ATM so that he could be sure that everybody who wanted to bet against him could have a little sweat bet. When the dust settled, poor old B.J. lost. Great win for Donny, beating B.J. with the 8 and then Veteran Ronnie Wiseman even the night before.

Shane from South Dakota is a polite player, but when he's on a field of green, he is ferocious. He spanked Marco Marquez for a couple large.

The funniest action match-up for me was between Jerry Bento, an old-time school campaigner, and a husky Native American named "Richard Burns" from Northern California. Johnny Archer gave him the nickname of "Richard Burns." I asked him his real name, and he said it was "Rolling Thunder."

Jerry a/k/a "The Toe" was asking around about Richard Burns, wanting to know how he could match up. He was advised that he maybe needed the 7-ball, but that Jerry may have a slight edge. Keith hadn't had a lick of action during the whole Open because JAM wanted to make sure he didn't stay up all night and then not be able to perform for the tournament. So Keith decided to take a piece of Jerry's action for a friendly sweat bet, just a jellybean or two.

The Toe and Rolling Thunder found themselves a bar box at Q-Masters and started battling it out. Racing to 11, Richard Burns went ahead 7-zip within a few minutes, and Jerry looked like he couldn't swallow a beebee. :D

Richard Burns, BTW, is a very friendly young man donning a traditional beautiful long black ponytail, but his best trait is his contageous giggle. I couldn't stop laughing the whole night. Every time he'd giggle, so did I. :D

Jerry Bento and Richard Burns battled back and forth, and Jerry did manage to score a two-set win. Rolling Thunder said he was a little short on cash before the second set commenced and said he'd pay Jerry the next day for sure. Jerry trusted Richard Burns because rumor was that he was good for it.

The next day comes around, and Jerry's worried when he doesn't see Richard Burns come to the conference center for the semi-finals. Tony Chohan picked up on Jerry's concern and immediately offered to buy Jerry's bet for 66.6 percent of the total. Jerry the Toe welcomed Tony Chohan's kind offer and couldn't collect the dough fast enough, stuffing his pockets with two-thirds of the total bet.

One hour later, Richard Burns shows up with the cash and handed the full amount to Jerry, and this time I thought Jerry was going to get sick (LOL). He directed Richard Burns over to Tony Chohan who collected the cheese and made a nice little profit in less than an hour's time. Word on the street is that Richard Burns is also a great golfer and played John Schmidt some earlier in the week. ;)

I must say out of all the people I met this year, I really enjoyed hanging around Richard Burns (Rolling Thunder). If you ever hear him laugh, you too will be swept up in his enthusiasm for the game/sport. He's a treat to be around, and I hope to see him again on the tournament trail. Truly a gentleman and funny, funny, funny!

LOL. Tony Chohan knew his investment was as good as gold! :D

We're maybe heading over to First Break in Sterling tonight. I heard that Andy Duty and some friends will be there, enhancing the players' field. Also, there is a brand-new chef named Moe whose specialty is kabobs. Brandon said he's devoured one every single night this week! :p

Keith picked up a new Schon Sneaky Pete at the Open which he says works GREAT on certain equipment, forward-balanced, hard Moori tip, skinny butt, and 16-1/2-inch taper. He's going to be practicing up for the tournament trail up ahead! ;)
