I tend to agree. Even today, if it goes long enough, I like Billy to finally wear him down. Scott is carrying a lot of weight there.
I had never seen Billy Incardone play pool, only having met him within the last 4 or 5 years or so. However, I have heard numerous stories about Billy in action from my counterpart, some of them quite funny.
I only made it over to Q-Masters two nights. However, I did try to keep up with the action smut!
During the middle of the week, Billy Incardone and LilJon got to barking in front of the Chesapeake Conference Center about playing some one-pocket EVEN. Liljon didn't hesitate one bit, and Billy couldn't wait to depart for Q-Masters to begin. They played for a pretty nice chunk of change, and Billy Incardone pocketed the dough.
One night, B.J. Ussery had his nostrils wide open and wanted to play Donny from Florida, spotting him the 8 in 9-ball. I was surprised at B.J. granting Donny such a huge spot, being that Donny took down Ronnie Wiseman EVEN the night before. The set was for an undisclosed amount, but B.J. was taking all side bets.
The side bets were plentiful, and it exceeded the amount of cash B.J. Ussery had on hand. So he excused himself for a brief moment to go to an ATM so that he could be sure that everybody who wanted to bet against him could have a little sweat bet. When the dust settled, poor old B.J. lost. Great win for Donny, beating B.J. with the 8 and then Veteran Ronnie Wiseman even the night before.
Shane from South Dakota is a polite player, but when he's on a field of green, he is ferocious. He spanked Marco Marquez for a couple large.
The funniest action match-up for me was between Jerry Bento, an old-time school campaigner, and a husky Native American named "Richard Burns" from Northern California. Johnny Archer gave him the nickname of "Richard Burns." I asked him his real name, and he said it was "Rolling Thunder."
Jerry a/k/a "The Toe" was asking around about Richard Burns, wanting to know how he could match up. He was advised that he maybe needed the 7-ball, but that Jerry may have a slight edge. Keith hadn't had a lick of action during the whole Open because JAM wanted to make sure he didn't stay up all night and then not be able to perform for the tournament. So Keith decided to take a piece of Jerry's action for a friendly sweat bet, just a jellybean or two.
The Toe and Rolling Thunder found themselves a bar box at Q-Masters and started battling it out. Racing to 11, Richard Burns went ahead 7-zip within a few minutes, and Jerry looked like he couldn't swallow a beebee.
Richard Burns, BTW, is a very friendly young man donning a traditional beautiful long black ponytail, but his best trait is his contageous giggle. I couldn't stop laughing the whole night. Every time he'd giggle, so did I.
Jerry Bento and Richard Burns battled back and forth, and Jerry did manage to score a two-set win. Rolling Thunder said he was a little short on cash before the second set commenced and said he'd pay Jerry the next day for sure. Jerry trusted Richard Burns because rumor was that he was good for it.
The next day comes around, and Jerry's worried when he doesn't see Richard Burns come to the conference center for the semi-finals. Tony Chohan picked up on Jerry's concern and immediately offered to buy Jerry's bet for 66.6 percent of the total. Jerry the Toe welcomed Tony Chohan's kind offer and couldn't collect the dough fast enough, stuffing his pockets with two-thirds of the total bet.
One hour later, Richard Burns shows up with the cash and handed the full amount to Jerry, and this time I thought Jerry was going to get sick (LOL). He directed Richard Burns over to Tony Chohan who collected the cheese and made a nice little profit in less than an hour's time. Word on the street is that Richard Burns is also a great golfer and played John Schmidt some earlier in the week.
I must say out of all the people I met this year, I really enjoyed hanging around Richard Burns (Rolling Thunder). If you ever hear him laugh, you too will be swept up in his enthusiasm for the game/sport. He's a treat to be around, and I hope to see him again on the tournament trail. Truly a gentleman and funny, funny, funny!
