Due to the local laws the host venue for TAR 17 must have everyone out by 2 AM. The match had to be stopped at Mills 47 Van Boening 45 tonight because we hit the closing time before one of them got to 50.

Due to that we are moving the start time for the final day up to 4:30 PM EST.

Unbelievable match.

Damn right!! Great Pool - Hats off to both players

I second that... unbelievable match so far. Pool played at the highest level. Pool played with hardly any defense. Pool played where one simple miss can sit you in your chair for 10-15 games. Pool played on a 9 ft, that you think was being played on a barbox (think Frost/SVB). Pool played where if a guy gets out to a 15 game lead, that doesn't mean squat.

It's going to be a great pool day tomorrow. It's going to get real suspenseful around the 70 game mark. If their around even then, and someone goes on a 10-15 game tear, theirs going to be a ton of pressure on both guys at that point.

You can't get any better entertainment out of a $20.00 bill, so if you haven't bought both days already, clear your Sunday evening out, get you some snacks, roll the easy chair in my the computer and kick back and watch 2 pro's play the highest level of pool. Watch how perfect breaks are executed, with balls dropping in the same holes every time and all the balls opening up for a run out, watch huge runs of racks and of course, watch fantastic shots being made with tons of pressure on each one of them.

Get it here...... www.theactionreport.com

$20 more or less equal to......

4 packs of smokes
8 gallons of gas
trip to KFC and a Family deal
a couple of $10 scratch tickets
about 3 hours of minimum wage
a 18 lb. turkey
less then 1 present for someone at Christmas
about 5 beers at a bar
about 3 hours at a pool hall on Friday night
less then 1 bounced check or overlimit fee on your credit card
a cheap date - really cheap - you ain't getting any, my friend:grin:

Amazing play by both players. Quick summary:

Shane runs over Donny.
Donny's break starts working and he starts running packages - not racks
Shane puts up his own package
Donny comes back again with two more packages
Donny pulls it to even
Donny looks like he is stealing now while Shane can only watch
Donny breaks and the cue ball is kicked in the side
Shane gets on a roll and pulls it to within two and breaking - bar closes

yessir

jcin, this is what i like to see. alot of offense. very good for the spectators imho. players not scared to shoot at the hole because the the pockets are too small. very good show, and a great value. it is a must see match !

Ok, let's talk numbers. What was the largest package ? I thought I might have seen a 4 pack minimally ?

Schedule is CLEAR for take-off!

Screw it. I was supposed to do the couples cook out thing tonight but hell man, I did the good boyfriend thing last night.

The schedule has been cleared. Now it's time for Man Time!

POOL PARTY!

A fellow enthusiast and AZer, EZMoney, has hooked his computer to his 42 inch plasma. Gonna get a couple more enthusaists, get something with a bone for the grill, get some libations, and kiss the women goodbye for the night!

i think you are right. no supermega pack but alot of 2's 3's and a few 4's.
sometimes they did keep control of the table with a safety. then another minipack made people think it was a bigger pack, but not !

ball on the break

ball on the break everytime for donny. i think shane may have missed a couple times. got stats ?

There have been some 4 packs, but I believe that's been the max. The commentators were discussing a phantom 6 pack, but forgot that Donnie played a safe in there.

Donnie reminds me of Shane, but with more power, a higher gear (believe it or not), and occasional mental lapses to keep things interesting.

This is unbelievable, sickening pool!

You and your buddies are going to be the envy of most of us tonight. That sounds like an awesome way to spend the evening. Front row seating to great pool on the big screen, t-bone steak, cold beer, and no honey do nagging.

How do you go about hooking up to the big screen?
Can it be done from a laptop?

Sure can (laptop hook). It's just a cable with a funky X connection on one end and a funky Y connect on the other. From one port to another. That should getcha there. ;)

Actually, we should start a thread on that. I looked at EZ Moneys but I forget which ports were connected, but it's easy.

My Sony Vaio has a HDMI output. I can plug it directly into my Sony big screen and watch live streaming. I have a super "entertainment center" puter which is hardwired to my router, with 2T of HD space for movies, music etc, and use it instead of the laptop, but when I tried the HDMI output from my laptop I couldn't see any difference in quality.

just more hot air!

this is the best TAR match I have ever seen!!!!!

Its very entertaining, they are running out like its a bar box, Jump shots, the whole bag, its a shoot out style match. It not draging on like 10 ball does without a shot clock or slow players. because of the soft break there is no 9 ball breaks but to watch the balls open up and seeing how good they rack them is great. Its not just a racking war either, both players have came with some great shots.

Donnie fired in a 7 ball with force follow about 600 miles/hr if he hits the fuzz onthe pocket facing it wont go, gin and the rock landed perfect, Shane has made a pile of great shots as well(as usual). its a shoot out. Its 9 ball!!!!!

if you never ordered a TAR show before, try it today. JCIN has to get this on DVD soon as possible for Christmas, I'm buying it. They are zooming in on the balls when the players are racking which is great, the camera work and over all production work is professional, it dosent feel home made, its top quality.

I'm not trying to be a pitch man for TAR, I'm sharing my enjoyment of this match with other pool players-thats my intent wth this post. dont miss it

Bump for the DMvsSVB new start time so all those late sleepers may catch the development..

Thanks Sherm for the info. I guess then, the resolution on your big screen is wholely dependent on the upload from the net -assuming whichever computer used has the minimum requirements for the app. Eh?

Yes, pick up a DVI to HDMI cord (hdtv) or DVI to RCA (non hdtv) Just go to a computer store or radio shack, should have it for pretty cheap. Maybe $20. WELLLLLLLLLL worth it.

I have a macmini hooked up to my plasma, takes TAR to a whole new level. Now as soon as JCIN starts streaming at 1080p, i'll be good :)

If your looking to hook up your computer to your TV see if it has an HDMI port or an S video port, buy the appropriate cable for it.
