Went to the poolhall here in Paducah, and it is nice to talk to the owner and ask him how to make a couple shots and he shows you and works with you for a while until I feel I have it mastered, okay maybe not mastered but certainly in my arscenal.

There are folks that are pros who cannot or wont teach, and there are solid players who will try to help where ever they can. He also showed me a couple other shots, that I will need to work on.

Felt really good to learn a new shot.

For those who might not know him, he is pretty good old boy, Dickie Todd here in Paducah.

Damn these boys can bank.....

Tell us what you learned, or better yet, show us with a Cuetable diagram. If you don't know how, there's a sticky at the top of this forum.

Also, I suggest thanking your benefactor with a little publicity. Unless he's object, I'd mention his pool hall by name so others can go to a great place and he can benefit from the increased patronage. He helped you, here's a way to repay his kindness
 
Well the shot is the shot that Pagaylyon shot over Parica in a one pocket match.

It is a long rail bank and it is is shot with a little outside english to make it come back on the bank.

The guys here in Paducah bank like Gods. I am so lost in banking, I feel I can hang with anyone in 9 ball but these guys bank great. I mean guys I can destroy in 9 ball bank AT LEAST 2 balls better than me.

Lousy to great players play banks here. UGH!

The pool room is "SIDE POCKETS" in Paducah and the owner is Dickie Todd, a pretty nice fella.

How long are you staying in paducah? Its not far from me and I play both.

I just moved here, and I will be staying here as long as the uranium plant here is in business, so maybe 5 years or so.

I am playing more one pocket and nine ball and run like hell when anyone mentions banks.

Truman says the best bank game is here in Paducah. It is on MWFSS.

I just watch and try to learn.

Dickie is a good guy and plays pretty well too. He taught me a lot about the game. There is quite a bit of knowledge in that pool room. I hope the plant runs a little more than 5 years Ken.

Yea they play alot of bank there. They have a big bank ring game on saturday I think.

Three things an aspiring banker should know:

1. The diamonds were not designed for one rail banks.

2. Nearly all bank shots require either an increase in cut angle from the "natural bank", use of outside english, or both.

3. All tables play differently, and the key to success may be how you adjust your cut angle and english for that table, on that day.

Other than that, it's easy.
