We held our Pool for Pups tournament today at Badfish Billiards in Matthews (Charlotte) NC. The turn out was great, and everyone involved had a great time. Best of all, we raised over $1200 for the NC Rottie Rescue group! (There may have been more online, but that is just what we did at the event!)

I want to publically thank Scott Taylor and all the employees from Sterling Gaming/Cuesight.com for their support. 3 weeks ago when we first started planning the event, Scott jumped in and offered the resources of his entire staff and facilities. Flyers were designed, printed, and distributed in a matter of days. Several cues were donated for our raffle, as well as quite a few other items. Scott himself was there at 9:30 this morning when I pulled in and worked tirelessly all day doing whatever needed doing, as well as playing in the tournament. He also got into a bidding war when we auctioned off a t-shirt and pushed the bid up to $34!!!! And he didn't even win the shirt...someone else did!

All in all, our first annual charity tournament was a huge success, thanks in no small part to the efforts of Scott and his team.

If you ever need billiard supplies, please check out cuesight.com and help support a company that truely does support the game of pool, as well as a worthy cause like this one!

That's AWESOME!!!
You know me.... anything for the four legged lil buddies! (Maybe it has something to do with the amount of time I spend in the doghouse.....but I digress)

Very cool, they'll be getting some of my business:grin:

This may be a small one, but nonetheless, kudos, and a pat on the back for a heartfelt cause (I absolutely love furry critters)

I had a great time and would definitely do it again. As you can see my big baby was absolutely distraught over me not taking her

Great news Steve! How many players did you end up with? Any idea who won? Fantastic to help the pups plus getting Danny some exposure with his new room.

Great job guys!

Steve, you guys did a great job!! I had a blast and cant wait to see what else you put together for the pups. I knew there was a good turnout but over $1200, thats awesome! What a great time for a great cause.:grin:

Oh, this is a great pool happening. Thanks so much for sharing the good news. We need more of this in the industry. BRAVO to you and all those who contributed! :)

Chris,
Thanks for driving down, and thank your dog for letting you out of the house for the day...she looks pretty wound up in that pic!
It was cool watching two of my students matched up in one of the later rounds. Watch out for Josh next year though, he just finished the course a week ago!!!

KV,
Paul Mullins won, Donny Streeter second, and Tim Hewitt third.

If I can figure out how to do it (I'm a computer idiot) I will try to post up some pics

I had a real good time. Scott kept me laughing so hard I almost lost. I ended up staying there till 11pm and Scott was still there when I left still making me laugh.

I didn't play all too well, but then again I was having such a good time I wasn't too concerned with bearing down and it seemed like everyone else shared in that same attitude which was nice.

Josh, you'll start picking up on stuff and everything will just seem to click in. I'll keep ya updated on the cues and if you're ever in Hickory just let me know.

Oh yea and believe it or not my dog was actually snoring logs in that position. If my fiancee' can make it to the next one I'll make sure to bring her too.

I forgot to mention, we had a total of 33 players in the event, including one 7 year old girl who could barely reach the table, and could only manage shooting with a shaft. (Due to some creative work on the chart, she made it through 3 rounds playing some guy named "Bye",) and won a prize for being the youngest player in the tournament.
(I told her that the guy was afraid to play her, and gave up before her matches even started)
