If your cues have EVER been damaged because of the case you use, post your story here

I wonder if JB would give a discount if you bought a case from him without a lid. If the memory foam holds the cues in place so well - who needs the lid. You have proved that.

He might not need the lid to keep cues from spilling out, but you'd still need the lid to keep cue gnomes from going IN.

Hey, while you're at it, can you tell us how your chubby PFC azz suddenly became an Army Ranger again?

*Edit-if you were such a badass, how did you earn your EIB before you even got an ARMCOM or at the
least an AAM; ASR looks very lonely up there all by its lonesome...

Eric >loves fairy tales

Yes, I was about 195 and over my weight limit, but always passed the tape test....and I always managed to get 100% on my PT test...how did you do sweety?.. only time I did not get 100% on my pt test was because I was wayyyyy to hung over..

First you have absolutely NO idea what your talking about:rolleyes:, and the pic of me was taken long before I went to Ranger School.

And secondly, you don’t know what your talking about AGAIN because you don’t have to have an AAM or an ARCOM (not armcom, never heard of that award) I had been to my unit maybe a month and went for the EIB testing and got it …AAM, and ARCOM and others were to follow…lol

*edit- never said I was a badass you dipstick*

Yep, still smells like b.s., FtgOkieDokie.

Eric >will have to run more questions by my Ranger friend

The only damage I have ever had I'll blame on myself. My cue slipping out and chipping the collar of the shaft. I was still a newbie and it wasn't a real expensive cue, I am much more careful now. I do not own a justice or JB, but would like to have one in the future. I guess I have been pretty satisfied with the protection of my mid-range priced cases, as I usually am not carrying my customs around. I keep them locked up at home.

I think the original question in this thread was a good one, but every time someone has an experience contrary to what others may like/think the get jacked or deemed invalid. Why is that?

If you want to own a Justis - you ought to know the correct spelling so you can be sure to order the actual item and not a knock off when the time comes.

Had a 3x7 Instroke that was just worn out after 8 years. The padding on the bottom was almost gone and caused a couple of finish chips in my cue. Should have gotten a new case sooner so it was my fault.

Thank you for your honesty. That is a good trait to have.

Had the bottom pop off of an old Its George case. Luckily no damage done though.
Chuck

I would need more detail on what exactly 'pop off' means to comment.

I also suggest duct tape. It fixes anything, even pool cases.

That sounds right.....go to someone else to get help:grin:

When I'm not an expert, I like to consult with those that are, seeing as how neither one of us (you or I) were Army Rangers.

Sorry watchez for the derailment of a certain member and myself…under advisement of a few upstanding AZ Members, I believe I will use the IGNORE button on that d1kwad for the 1st time.

Russell Ziskey: John, do you think I'm officer material?
John Winger: God, I'm worried about you.
Russell Ziskey: Come on! I'm in good shape, I'm walking tall, I'm looking good. First weekend in Europe.
John Winger: Yeah. We're spending it in an airplane hangar... guarding a truck!
Russell Ziskey: We've got each other.

regardless of the amount of people who have actually encountered cue damage (haven't had time to read the whole thread), surely the idea and drive to make a case with the utmost, best protection humanly possible is an admirable one?

At the end of the day for most people a case is to protect your cue, so what's wrong with a casemaker who wants to prioritise protecting your cues as opposed to making the outside look awesome but just putting a (relatively) poor quality interior in?

How can you comment if you haven't read the thread?

Kinda like voting without knowing what the candidate is about. Nevermind, I see that you are from England and the Queen is not an elected official. That simplifies things.

Anyways, I have just the case for you - remember I said, duct tape works wonders.

because my comment has nothing to do with any examples of cues being damaged, the comment stands alone because it is a philosophical/idealogical point.

pretty simple really.

and what's the queen got to do with anything? Just because we have a Queen who doesn't do anything apart from boost tourism and look nice sitting in her palace doesn't change the fact we have a parliament and democracy. which has been around longer that America's incidentally. Not that I don't think America isn't a great country anyway, if i didnt i wouldnt be supporting them at the mosconi cup!

Many years ago I had a 2x4 leather case from a guy who no longer makes them. It had plastic tubes for the butts and shafts. For some reason I installed the shaft joint side down - normally I would do it the other way, but this time I didn't for some reason, can't remember why.

This cue was a Schuler, and the Schuler joint is a little bigger than standard. Well, once the shaft was in the case I couldn't pull it out. It was really wedged in there tight and my finger strength wasn't enough to get it out. I could have used a pliers but that would have destroyed the shaft, or at least the ferrule.

I sent it back to the casemaker and he got it out, but the shaft came back with a new ferrule and tip and some kind of black mark on the wood, so I guess he had to use a pliers.

Since then I've learned never ever to put a shaft in joint side down. If the joint is up and there is a problem, you can always screw the butt into the shaft and lift it out

I Watched My Cue Fall to it's Near Death

from a 747 at 35,000 ft. When I found it, not a scratch on it. THANKS JOHN BARTON!!!!!

Fellini case/cue in car trunk, drove to Olathe Kansas. Went to practice and found a cut in the wrap. With a flashlight looked inside the case, I found the seam of the fabric had come detached near the bottom. The constant bouncing on interstate 70 for about 500 miles did the trick. Never put a cue/case in a trunk again on a long trip unless I shimmed it with some type of foam.

Since I do have experience in these fields...

You always got 100% on your PT tests - like all of them? You ran 2 miles in 12 minutes, did 90ish situps and 120ish pushups within 2minutes?

Man, you are badass. When I was in, I could max the pushups and situps (barely), and best run I ever did was 12:30 - and I weighed 155.

If I read correctly, I don't think Eric meant you "had to have" an AAM or ARCOM, just found it humorous that you *didn't* have either one by the time you were PFC (with EIB), rocked that hardcore haircut (being slightly overweight) and went to Ranger school.

Were you 11B or M?

Could it have been chalk that was on the lining on the inside of your case? Or maybe you had your case open and crumbs from your lunch fell into your case causing your cue to be scratched?

Along with my rubber guards for pool tables I will be coming out with a thermo molecular nuclear vacuum that will fit down in the tubes of your case. You will need to vacuum out the tubes each time you put your cue in the case to ensure that no foreign particles can be found to damage your cues. For slightly more, you can buy attachments that allow you to vacuum out a 2X4, 3X5, 3X6, 3X7 or 4X8 tube case all at the same time. This vacuum will also fit in the pouch of your case. Patent and trademark pending. Don't get any ideas John Barton on having a cheaper model built in China by some comrad left over from the Cold War that used to work on the Chinese defense systems.

Do you suppose you could get us a Ustream presentation on that vacuum?
