Several Antique Brunswick Pool Items Rack, Balls, Anniversary Table, 21oz Titlist

I'm less curious about what the item in question is than I am about whether this whole 'dibs' thing is true. Is it? Because I saw someone selling a Gina here a few days ago asking for offers.

Do you really mean all I had to do was call dibs with my offer and it was mine??? NOW I'm pissed!! I could had a Gina for $25... if only I had called 'dibs'.

This was not make me an offer, it was a firm price and obo (meaning the seller did not feel they might get 40 bucks for the items). If they wanted bidding offers, they should have waited for all the offers. Instead of selling for the first one above 40 .

Even he has it in his sig...

If you have something for sale, POST A PRICE!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL, what comes around goes around though. I have quite a few of the questioned item anyways...

Yes, my sig is for those that say, "taking offers" or "PM me for price" - things like that...

But I've got to say - I'm now genuinely confused... You mean "OBO" cannot go up in price, it can only go down?

I had no idea. If that's the case, I must apologize and send the box of bumpers, wrap device and sander to you post haste....

Actually, you're just plain wrong. 'Or Best Offer' is a term used when a seller wants all interested parties to make THEIR best offers possible so as to avoid bartering with the same people over and over and over.

It is in no way a means of stating value at or below the asking price.

The seller asked for the buyer's best offer. His offer may have been better than yours. If you offered full price, that was YOUR best offer. If his was above that, his offer was better. As a seller, she is naturally going to go with the 'best offer' she gets. Sorry it wasn't yours.

What the heck is that thing that they are fighting over anyway?

A box of pride, I think.

Seriously, I think when most people put a price and obo, they are thinking a price lower then the asking price. Of course, or best offer could mean a price higher then the asking price, but why would someone put an asking price in the first place then? Maybe start a poll and decide the person in the right that way. The op has stuff for sale and the thread has kind of gone downhill.

Good luck on your sales. You have some really nice stuff there.

If you're arguing semantics.. then yes OBO could mean both. BUT, in the context of this place (AZ) 99.9987698764598 percent of the time OBO will lead to a LOWER offer NOT higher. And, is usully used if the offered price is not bearing fruit in marketplace. In this case the OP should have just said make an offer... Which of course would have led to 1pRoscoe bashing them with his "POST A DAMN PRICE" message. It looks like you can't win for losing. :D

Thanks....

Thanks for not only having me waste two minutes, but provide some drama, kind of like watching Gray's Anatomy with my wife!

Thank you. FINALLY a logical and intelligent post...

I think this is only a losing situation for the seller though as I would have give ALOT more if had known it would be a bidding war thread lol...

Not a very respectful or intelligent way to sell on AZ.
Shes been herehocking her items for awhile and after they're gone, I doubt she'll be much of a contributor at AZ.

I am surprised to see such strife among the brethren,I think if you posted pictures of the offers and the bids that would be helpful

Was there a picture of the merchandise?

It appears that even posting aprice is confusing.KOWABUNGA

I think it's logical to believe that this thread is an example of why some of the guys post items with "No price" or "taking offers". Doing so enables them to sell the piece without any public ebay type event thread, and gets what they want out of their item..or they keep it.

It's funny so many people dislike that..It's a hell of a lot more professional then this.

No horse in this race, but...

regardless of the whole 'OBO' arguement, until the seller says 'it's yours', whom they sell an item to is entirely up to them. The thought that calling dibs on something removes the sellers right to choose what offer they accept is utterly rediculous.

Unless of course, the seller states 'first person to say they want it'...

I especially like the ' I've got more of them anyway', 'I would've bid A LOT more if', 'I would've easily outbid you', and an almost 'you'll be sorry' added for good measure is comical.

RACKEM, the name calling actually started here:

Don't be a loser over a box etc...

And with this thrown in for good measure:

You are a loser! And an EXACT point this whole forum wreaks with losers.

I guess if you want something that bad, make SURE you get it. Like 1pRoscoe did.

Again, I've got no horse in this race, just some observations. Hope all parties come away whole.

Opps Missed it in post #8. Didn't quite warrant #9. :frown:
So after putting us through this drama can you guys tell us what it is? A wrap jig? I persume it is a collector item. How much is it really worth.
