This forum

Pay attention:

Where does one draw the line ? "Online business" ? Exactly what does that constitute ? Several parties here sell many cues and have websites. Does this policy apply to them? The lack of standards of practice for sales here is a joke. Which is why I will probably never purchase a cue from anyone here again. And there are definitely folks out there who could use my money.

later,
tim

The man was selling things he didn't own. Did he even have permission the use anyones photo's and when anything was sold how could he deliver it? He had no ownership. But he would have the buyer's money!
Don't mess with the hammer!
Nick :)

I will play....

...by whatever rules Mike and the AZ guys want me to play by.

In all honesty, although I do have a self-maintained website, this is truely a hobby that I do out of love for the game.

I feel certain that most would categorize me as a "dealer", although I have never had a booth at SBE or anywhere else (I actually enjoying playing at these events too much to be bored in a booth). I like to buy/sell cues because it keeps me off the couch in my retirement, and in touch with all you wonderful people. I would hope that I contribute more than the occasional cue to the forum.

I just want to play.......

Nobody in their right mind here would put you in the same category as those other "dealers", Joe. We all know you are a huge asset to this place, and make it a much better place.

Nothing against Joe because I have done a transaction with him but with over 300 itraders it would be hard to convince those guys it's not a business. To me it shouldn't matter who you are or even if the person has a business,if your selling a cue or buying ,or trading you have every right to be on this forum. If az picks apart certain guys and not others thats not right. Were all big boys here and sometimes the guys who rule the roost has to mine their own business and let these guys have some fun.

We love Joe on AZ. I got the cue bug thanks to him and he got me a lot of nice deals ;)
Merry Christmas to you and your family Joe!

I'd like to give my 2 cents worth. I have NO problem with how (as long as it's ethical) or how much anyone sells here that is pool related. The post's that link to other websites...I mainly ignore em. I've learned a lot about pool cues on this site, interacted with lots of az'ers, bought and sold cues. It doesn't matter to me how many cues you've sold, if you have a cue I want I'll try to cut a deal.
After selling a fair amount of cues I felt it was time to give back, I became a member and later gave a cue to a fellow az'er that I knew wanted one but could not afford it. His cue was later customized by another member at no charge. I know that I'm not the first to do something like this and I know I wont be the last. Where else are those kinds of actions going to occur....sure as hell not on eBay!
There are some great cue sellers on this site. They are successful for a reason. Truth is that they are part of what makes this such a great place to hang out. I've learned a lot from one seller in particular. He has a great rep for a reason. My dealings with the big sellers here have all been positive. They have offered far more than a cue or a case for sale. They have also offered knowledge, trust and respect. Even the sellers whom I've never contacted have enlightened and fascinated me with some of the incredible cues they list.
If there are any changes made I just hope that it isn't an over-reaction to the practices of an overly agressive young man with very few scrupples. Let's not punish all for the actions of one or a few.
My vote/request/desire is that we let the powers that be do their due dilegence and ban those who deserve it and please don't punish the rest of us for the acts of those few bad apples.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH. Have a wonderful holiday Mike!

Recently, some things going on in this forum have been brought to our attention and we are making strides to take care of these issues today.

The biggest issue is abuse of this forum by users who simply see this as a place to advertise their online business and everything that they sell. This forum was originally set up for forum users who have an item available that they want to sell. I don't have any problem with users who contribute to this forum, in the form or conversation, to advertise any pool related items that they have for sale or trade.

I do have a problem with folks who have an online business and just use the forum to advertise that business for free.

We have removed a number of these posts and this should be considered the warning for those posters to stop what they are doing.

There is one exception to this however. One user (Cuedaddy) was not only using this area to promote his online shop. He was also taking images from the AzB marketplace to populate his online shop. Including posting items that were exclusives to the AzB marketplace and saying he could deliver these items.

When contacted by our marketplace partner about these issues, his simple response was "sue me".

Not only is this behavior detestable, but I would certainly have concerns about buying from someone like this.

This user has been banned from the forum for life. No warning was given and no warning should be needed for something like this.

Not EBay

It's a privelage and an honor to post and or use this forum and this should always be respected. Thank you for the opportunities and i respect the administrators decisions. Thank you

There's a lot of good people buying, trading, and selling their stuff on AZ Billiards.
For someone looking for a great cue to play with there are tons of good deals, especially right now.
Not a bad thing at all.

I've always said what you don't want to do is tell a marketplace partner to "sue me"...:banghead::smash::wave2:

Hi,
I frequent a few golf sites that have these exact problems. Bomb Squad Golf charged a nominal fee per thread to a nonmember and free unlimited posts to those who paid an membership fee each year. There may be a problem with this idea that I'm not aware of as they recently stopped charging for all listings. Golf Wrx has a limit of how many threads one can start per month in their Buy, Sell, and Trade forum. They also have programming that does not bump an add when someone replies to it. Cameron Collector requires that the OP lock all BST adds but I think that sucks.
I realize this is a difficult topic and hope that AZ Billiards can find a viable solution as I really enjoy shopping here!

It's real simple. This is a place to post your item that you have for sale. Not to advertise your general business or to solicit future business.

I am a case maker. I should not post an ad that says "Order a Custom Case Today"

I should not post an ad that says "Cue cases for sale go here www.casesforsale.com"

I should not post an ad that advertises my ebay auction.

I should post when I have an actual case ready for sale or one will be ready very shortly.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

People should NOT ever knock a person's for sale thread UNLESS that person is attempting to defraud the community. You do't go to someone's garage sale and stand outside knocking their stuff or their prices or how they run their business. So don't do it here.

People should really refrain from all the bumping. Everyone can see the NEW posts when they log in. All the bumping does is making unfair for the people who don't engage in a lot of bumping. Bumping your thread or your friend's thread to the top MEANS that you also bump other people's threads to a lower position. Be polite and bump only when you have pertinent information to add such as more details or a lowering of the price.

Anyone who is selling appreciates the friendly bumps but honestly it's better to just let the product go where it goes to be fair to all sellers.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

To those who run their business through this forum you should all be club members at least. It costs nothing to list here, just like Craigslist. However it does cost Mike a crap load to fade the hosting costs to provide this fourm. Giving back a tiny fraction of the revenue that you generate through sales here is just the right thing to do. This is where the largest amount of buyers for your product are gathered and you know it.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lastly, and this is for Mike, I think that you should have a subsection for non-pool related goods. I think that we pool players would rather deal within our own community when we can and it would be nice to be able to offer the other things in life that we have for sale or trade.

Anyway that's my thoughts on the subject as one who has been on both sides of the fence.

Although I agree with the concept, I don't think AZ billiards should do this.

I spend a lot of time looking at online marketplaces for items that were obtained fraudulently from my company. It may seem like a stretch for some of you, but the last thing I would want to deal with as the site owner is the headaches that come along with having a craigslist type section with NPR items for sale. I guess the biggest question would be if adding this type of subforum to AZ would financially benefit the owners enough to do it. If not, then why do it, everyone should just use ebay or craigslist.

My girlfriend has been using amazon.com for lots of gift this year. 2 weeks ago I assisted L.A.P.D. on 3 house searches involving the online fencing of stolen goods. We filled up 3 U-Hauls with stolen merchandise. Some of the DVDs we took are the same movies I am hoping Santa brings me. Santa could buy them at 50% off or more through amazon auctions, ebay, craigslist, half.com, etc. etc. etc.

Online marketplaces carry a lot of baggage. AZ would have to start charing for posts for it to be worth their while, IMHO.

Merry day before Christmas eve!

this is your forum and should profit from it. it is nice of you to let forum posters put up for sale one or two pieces of their own. people that are selling multiple items or dealers or people in the business should pay you to put up an ad.

Nice name, are we related?

Just a question...... but are ANY of the older posts deleted after a while or do they just hang out and take up space on the server indefinitely?

Online business are ok..... just don't like reading the same darn add all the time.
