Wtb : Hercek cue

I've never held a Hercek cue in my hands and would like to see one. Does Joel ever make simple or plain jane cues? Is there a four point w/ veneer Hercek cue out there for $2500? Does such a cue exist and if it does, what's the right price tag? If anyone has one to sell in that range I'd certainly like to see what you have.

Thanks

Kevin

Yeah me too!!

i've seen many herceks with just 4 points and veneers so they do exist although they go for a bit more than what u listed.

Hercek's waiting list is now about 10 years. The thing is that people waiting 10 + years for one, are ordering more than just a plain 4 pointer, so they are pretty hard to find.

Danktrees is right though. If you find something that even *resembles* a plain 4 pointer, you're looking at at least $3K to pry it out of the current owners hands, because there is a good chance they will never get another one from Joel.

Good luck with your search though!

A simple hoppe cue with 4 veneers about 3 years ago would fetch just at $3K.
Cannot imagine what it would be today with the 10 year wait on top of that.
Good thing I got on the list back in 2005.

The wait is more than 10 years. I haven't seen one go for less than $3500 in over a year and a half. I paid more than that for my last 4 plain pointer.

Good luck

I sold one for about that

It had one with ivory rings in the joint and shafts. Maybe a year ago. it did sell in 2 minuites though!
Nick :)

the last sale of one of these I paid attention to was from one friend to another for $1,400. No delaers ever involved so the rape/profit level was 0%. Of course you're very unlikely to find that any more, but good luck to you anyway, sir.

Hey Kevin buddy, good luck in your search. Got tired of playing with a Gina?

No not at all. As a matter of fact, I have 3 Ginas ordered in the current (huge) batch and I'm playing now with a great 12A (love those rainbow veneers) that I unwrapped about a month ago. I've never seen or hit with a Hercek, I'm touched by the story of him learning from Spain, and I'd like to see/hit with one and show it off to my pals. I'm not much of a collector so I'd probably just turn around and sell it after a bit.

I play a lot of pool with Ernie and really can't imagine showing up to play with somebody else's cue. I'm sure he could handle it, but I'd rather not disrespect him in that way if it makes sense. Plus, of course, there's really no disadvantage in playing with one of Ernie's impeccable instruments.

It just seems that for me buying something and then selling it later is often the easiest way for me to experience some products, rather than waiting for someone to walk into Hollywood Billiards with one.

Thanks

Kevin

Thanks so much its pretty and a good deal.

What I want can have less shafts, less inlay and less price.

Thanks for showing it to me. I was involved in a design feature discussion yesterday and I'd like to point out that the Hercek you are showing looks to have an innovative look to the butt.

Well, I have been waiting since 2005, and in April of last year, well, I'll just paste it here:

"Hello Jim:

Nice to hear from you, hope all is well... I'm currently working on my 2002 orders, it will still take a year or so to get through all the 2002 names. The batches these days are taking longer due to the fact that I've been making more and more complex designs. You are in my book, its hard to say exactly when I'll be working on the 2005 orders, however if a spot opens up sooner, I'll certainly let you know.

Best Regards

Joel"

As to plain cues, I will certainly be getting a plain one. Probably ebony (or rosewood) into straight maple with veneer colors of Joel's choice. Delrin butt cap and steel joint. I will probably get four shafts, but no other deviations (except a length of 59") to keep it as economical as possible. Maybe get really crazy and have a pearl block put in the butt with my name on it... Balabushka-style... Who knows. It depends on my financial status when my name finally comes up of course.

The tough part will be deciding to keep it when you guys will all be breaking down my door with money rolls to get a Hercek without the wait... I think the best things are worth the wait...

Kevin,

I feel I'm very lucky to have had Bob Runde as a
teammate and to also be located close to some of
the top-tier cuemakers. I've had Joel Hercek make
me a cue and I'm on the list for another one. I
think I told you the story of showing up to leagues
with a new Hercek and having another teammate
of mine bring it to Bob Runde's attention. NOT COOL!
Anyway, the reason I bring that up is to say, I'm
sure Ernie knows he's not the only great cuemaker
on planet earth. But I also agree with you, you might
want to continue to play week in and week out with
a Ginacue especially if you're playing with Ernine...lol
I'm not sure you will find a Hercek as you described
in your price range, but they do play great. So I will
wish you the best of luck in your search...

Yup everybody is telling me I need to spend a little more money.

Thanks

I understand 2500 is a little low for some folks but you never know. Times are bad for a lot of people right now. You might just get an unsuspected pm or email for a Hercek in your price range. Stranger things have happened.

Well I don't particularly want to take advantage of anybody. If it's not a fair price for what I want (its just a number I pulled out of the air, I can't think of a plain 4 pointer I've ever seen sell as a reference plus I don't know what Joel charges) then I'll either spend more or I won't get to see one until someone shows up with one or I get up off my butt and go to a cue show.

Thanks

Kevin
