when i was up there in columbus couple months ago, went into players and played dominic from there. we had played before here in louisville before. want to say that is was a nice place and everyone was friendly. saw your diamond table there also. he didnt want to play on diamonds. if you see dominic, tell him joey said hi and thinking about coming back up there soon and hope to get together again and gamble. looking forward to seeing you at the derby too chris

Why go to Columbus for action? There is plenty of action in the Det area. Columbus is a nice area and there is a lot to do so why not enjoy the area when there. Then again the area is smoke free so that would be a reason to play there.
Am looking forward to May when Mi goes smoke free. Don't know why they have made May the date for that when N. Carolina passed it and implemented it ASAP.

Here is what you will see when the ban goes into effect. Home table sales will go thru the roof, the drinkers will either drink at home or go to one of the bars that against the law will continue to let people smoke, within a year business at the poolrooms will plummet and then several of them will go out of business. Smoking bans are no good for pool business....
As for people in Central Ohio come to Players and you can get played. If I know you or can get a line I will match up. One pocket, 9ball, 10ball, 8ball, or banks.
Saw you play banks? Wow you should play Chronic some, he loves it. You going to the Derby? I am making the road trip if you wanna ride, just dont shit your pants the whole way down.
I'm not a specialist, like most.... I don't play any of them good so why hitch my post to just one game? WTH is Chronic? Just the name scares me....
Doubt it on the DCC.... BTW, you're my favorite person to drop bombs on so why would I stop?
And Columbus is lucky as they are in the middle of the state so it is a long drive to a smoking establishment. Cincinnati is on the border of both Kentucky and Indiana and most players have just crossed over to kY to play. Between the economy, video games, the lottery and casinos and now the smoking ban it has been a death knell as far as pool is concerned in Cincinnati. When I moved back to Cincinnati from Columbus 12 years ago, pool was thriving in Cincinnati. We are now down to 4 pool halls from over 20 and one, with two bars and a small kitchen, was just sold for less than 75,000 that he started off asking 250,000 for about 6 years ago.
I no longer smoke but I did for years and when I was smoking there is no way I could have played anywhere near my best while craving a cigarette and there was no way I would consider going into an establishment that never allowed it. These places never just lost the business from me and others like me but also from the crowed we ran with were lost also as they would go where we went. I know the ratios between smokers and non smokers and it is quite large but if you take a survey in a pool room you will find that the numbers aren't the same. People who frequent bars, bowling alleys and pool halls have a larger percentage of smokers.
Now I'm certainly not saying that non smokers should have to deal with the smoke if they don't choose to but I am saying that it's not right for the state to force a business man to run his business so that, in time, it is guaranteed to go out of business. It should be up to the bar owner or room owner to decide on which direction he wants to go. Smoking is a legal endevour and should be treated as such. I know the pitfalls of smoking but I don't feel the government should be allowed to force businessmen to comply with a law limiting a legal activity. If it is so horrible, then it should be outlawed all together. Of coarse the electorate will never do any such thing as the tax is to much of a cash cow for their gov. They want that tax money that it creates and you'll never see a politician get in the way of a easy money flow. You will notice how lately when times are so bad and there's not enough tax money to go around who they are adding the taxes onto.

And something else to add.... I ran the biggest poolroom/bar in the sate for nearly 6 years and in 6 years maybe heard 8-9 complaints from patrons about smoking/smoke.

Im a Republican but this is not a R or D issue, IMO.
My father gave me this side which I think of often.
The poor family guy doesnt have many pleasures in life, but does enjoy an occassional cigarette, or beer. So he goes to work everyday to feed his family, and on Friday night after getting paid, he picks up a carton of cigarettes, a six pack ( or maybe a case) of beer, and fills up his car so he get to work each day next week.
We, in our infinite wisdom, have a goverment that pays GM, Wall Street, and the bankers millions and they contribute nothing but to their own pockets.
On the other hand, every time we need to fund these theives, we tax poor family guy on his limited pleasures of cigarettes, beer and the gas he needs to get back and forth to work.
