My DCC thread

Day One - 354 players in the Banks Division! HUGE!

I sweated the Bank Pool ring game with Billy Incardona. It was Brian Gregg, Shannon Daulton, Truman Hogue, Harry Platis, David Fricke and Jet Johnson from Chicago. Billy worked me and worked me to make a bet with him. I reminded him that he ALWAYS loses to me. No matter, he wants some of my action anyway. I end up laying him 2-1 (on 50) and he has to pick the final two players. He picks Shannon and Brian, no surprise. It ends up coming down to those two and Jet. Jet wins it all! 9K! Sorry Billy.

The first day action is slow to take off, as many players are still arriving and a lot of posturing and negotiating is going on. This is normal. I can smell the action that is going to happen before this thing is all over. Alex is here and woofing at everyone, "Sorry boys, I came to take your money. I'm going to have to beat up on all of you again." So subtle . The rumor is Shane will play Bustie again later in the week. The only good game tonite for 4K is Tommy D'Alfonso spotting Nick Hickerson the seven ball. I tried to bet 500 on the side (I like Tommy), no bet. :p

Jon Hennessee made a little score last night and ran up to me and gave me $500 to play in the Fatboy Challenge. He was the first one in. Shane, Bustie, Stevie Moore, Santos, Rodney, Efren, Chris Bartram, Luat, Shannon Murphy, John Schmidt and Beau Runningen all entered today as well. So twelve spots are taken and Johnny and Alex are committed. That leaves only two open spots. Charlie Williams, Shannon Daulton and Dennis Hatch are all possibles for the last two spots unless someone else beats them out. Two words - STRONG FIELD!

It's late and I'm tired. ;)

Typical Alex goofing around lol! Hey Jay, do you know if Alcano and Orcullo are in the house?

Alcano and Dennis O. are not here, but EFREN is!

A couple of more action reports. Jesse Bowman beat Sparkey Ferrell playing some One Hole for 200 a game and was playing Chris Gentile for 300 a game last night when I turned in. Jesse will stay in action!

The big game of the day is underway. Harry Platis vs. Carl Bailey for $20,000! And I didn't stutter. It's a race to nine One Pocket in the Tarpit. You can sweat it live right now. Theactionreport.com

Off to run the One Pocket Challenge. It starts today in 15 minutes.

The last two players in the Fatboy are Brandon Shuff and Joe Pierce a very good local shortstop.

It's been another lonnng day at DCC for me. We started the One Pocket Challenge today and right now Scott Rabon has the high score with a 38. Gabe shot a 36 on his first turn. The action is sure to heat up tomorrow. Billy came up to the AZ/One Pocket room with Artie B. in tow and asked me if I was serious about playing Banks even up with Artie. I said sure I was. So he says how about you two play 9-Ball Banks for 50 a game. Okay I said and grabbed my cue. Artie and I played one game and I got lucky. Billy says now you have to play some One Pocket with Artie. No I don't have to, I told him. So it turned out to be a one game match. But Billy's money feels so good in my pocket.

I don't have time to play in any of the main events so I've decided to play in the minis this year. I got in the Bank Pool mini at Midnite with a full field of 64 players. I won a couple of matches and then lost to Brian Gregg 2-1. The good news was I won $50. Happy days again! I accept all gifts. I sold all the books I brought with me on the first day, but fortunately Bob Henning has extra copies with him at his booth. If someone asks me for a copy I walk them over to Bob's booth and sign one for them.

Carl Bailey won the 20K match with Harry 9-8. Just sweated Bustie destroying Chris Bartram in three straight sets for 9K. He's just too tough! Downstairs Billy and Artie are teamed up against Chris Gentile and his partner (?) a thou a game One Hole. By the way Tommy D. won his match last night with Hickerson. Cost me 500 because I wasn't able to get my bet down. That's how it goes sometimes. Also in the Tarpit George Breedlove is playing Brandon Shuff One Pocket for 10K (five a man) with Gabe Owen coaching George. How did he manage that I want to know? It's a Race to Ten, and George is ahead.

Oh well enough fun for one day. I'm going to get some rest.

It's always fun to live vicariously on AZB.

You and Beav on the mike during the Bartram/Busty match was sure enjoyable...... had me chuckling out loud while the rest of the house was asleep! Keep it up.

Brandon Shuff took it down

Got up just in time this morning and watched Brandon Shuff win 10-9. Somebody said with all the side bets, 20K changed hands. Thanks to TAR for the free streaming.

Amazing comeback! Brandon was down 8-5 and made a great comeback, thanks to a couple of timely errors by George. It's getting crazy here, big games everywhere. Some young guy from Albania named Ilar Laho played Efren for a few thou getting 12-6. He beat Effie and now he's playing Harry Platis 9-Ball Banks for 500 a game.

Jeanette played a huge game for SERIOUS money with Monster John. 9-Ball, Race to 21 for a BUNCH! He got her 21-19. Gotta give JL credit, she gets in there and mixes it up with the big boys. There is no other women on Earth quite like her. She's rich, she's famous and yet she loves the action. Jeanette is still in the trenches now, gambling at some new game. She's FEARLESS! And a mother with two kids!

The wildest game is old timer Jim "Pretty Boy Floyd" Mataya playing one handed 9-Ball for 500 a game with CRAZY Tim Heath. Each game takes 15-20 minutes and is a show in itself, with more woofing and sharking than you've ever seen. I can hear them yelling from here. I'm telling you it's a wild and crazy night at DCC. There is some crazy sh-t going on here. And all for BIG money! I haven't even made it into the Tarpit yet.

Why am I up so late? I played the One Pocket mini that started after Midnite and had back to back long three game matches (maybe two hours each, won one & lost one). I'm worn out, exhausted and yet feel like I don't want to miss anything. I'll take one more look around and head up to bed.

Jeanette is just hanging out now watching Bobby Dickerson Jr. (oneononepooltourneys) play Tedder and Scooter alternating games of 9-Ball for $$$. She is definitely one of the "boys". And I forgot one other important game going on. JHendy is playing Artie One Pocket a Race to Seven for another small bundle of cheese. Try 10,000 cheetos! 3-3 right now.

This is shaping up to be the most eventful DCC yet. I'm not sure I've ever seen anything quite like this, at Johnston City or anywhere else. It's a five ring circus tonight!

And we are loving every second of it!!!

The 2 hour long woofing between Timmy and Jimmy before the one-handed nineball was priceless and worth the trip from Norway itself :D

I know some guys recorded parts of it, so hopefully it will be on youtube one day :)

Jay forgot to mention that Efren bet 400 a game in 1 pocket for hours to someone I dont know, giving 12-6, and lost 2000.

Ok, back to sweating the action. This night is not over yet!!!

It just makes me wanna cry... not being there. Thanks for the updates. They ARE appreciated! :groucho:

WOW, Jay !!
Thanks for your reports - you are great and please keep them coming
I am from Vienna and would love to be there next year, it sounds awesome,
but maybe there will be some Action at the EXPO too - i will be there for sure again
Erich

you are the best

Thanks Jay.....Having you give these reports is definitely almost as good as being there....no one else could say it better than you.....

I got some sleep and came back down at Noon today. Ran into an exhausted but elated JHendy (John Henderson). He told me he defeated Artie 7-5 in a match that lasted all night. 6K in the middle and more on the side. A great win for John and some redemption from his losses to Artie and Billy in Galveston.

A shocker I just heard about in the One Pocket tourney. 15 year old Brendan Crockett (the protege of Sal Butera) defeated Jon Hennessee in their match earlier today. This kid is coming on strong. Look out Landon!

Today is the last day of the One Pocket Challenge and the Fatboy Ten Ball starts tonight at Midnite. Another full day at the funny farm!

Is the Fatboy 10 Ball scheduled to finish up Thursday night/Friday morning? Won't be getting into the Derby until Thursday. Thanks.
