The Beard on Amazon Kindle

After 1 yr and a half of effort, I have finally got both my books, Banking With The Beard, and The GosPool, available for download from Amazon's Kindle dept. Kindle is a form of e-book. You can read it off your Ipod or one of their Kindle units. It was a nightmare converting formats to handle text, pics and diagrams, but I got it done. The help dept at Amazon was virtually nonexistant. The book format of the future.

Well it's about time. I forgot about all the diagrams in your books. Mine don't have any . I bet that was a nightmare to put on. But the Kindle units are coing down in price and they are great for your books. Fits in your pocket to take to the poolroom and you have all the "Freddy the Beard" shots at your finger tips. Good luck with them. Johnnyt

I already bought both your books and probably bank better than you now! Just kidding. Thanks for writing these books. I love learning about this game and how to play it.

It 'twer a nightmare. Especially with no help available to lead the way. The Diagrams are the do-dad. Anybody wanna get on Kindle I would have to charge plenty for the help. It was like the Da Vinci code.

LOL

Now you see why I left Kindle alone -

:killingme:

The dust has settled my friend, and I will DEFINITELY give you a call tomorrow.

Congrats on getting "Kindled".

There is also an ap that lets you download Kindle books onto your iPhone/iTouch. I think it is a free ap from iTunes. I just pulled up your books on my iTouch. They let you see a sample before you buy.

Good work, Freddy!

One thing...it looks like the captions are all off on my screen. The caption is on one screen and then the picture comes up on the screen with the next caption that should go to the next picture. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news of formatting problems after you worked so hard. :o

I know they're wrong, but someone else who doesn't know the players might get them confused.

Preceding captions

Unfortunately, that problem was never able to be resolved. It's, Caption, then picture on the next page. The caption always precedes the picture, except when the caption is included in the photo itself. The pattern is not that hard to follow once you go thru a few pages of the book. I would like to correct that, but every single edit requires them to review the new result and that takes at least 5 working days, and winds up 2 to 3 weeks with the title unavailable.

Yes, I realize that the caption screen precedes the picture. So the first caption stands alone with no picture. However, the subsequent pictures do have captions underneath them, with the wrong captions. People who do not recognize the people in the pictures could get confused. I had to scroll backwards to remember some of their names. It's just a little disorienting.

I know it is a lot of work to change but thought you should know how I was receiving the pictures and text on an iPod. Maybe it is different on the Kindle?

May have a solution

I'm working on that again. I may have dreamed up a solution. I am afraid to re edit as that would take the book off the market for a couple of week. Takes them that long to reevaluate.

Since you have your books converted are there any plans to distribute them through Barnes & Noble for us Nook users? The Nook currently supports all e-book formats that the current Kindle does so you wouldn't have to do any extra work.

I already have paper copies of these great guides, but wouldn't mind having an on-the-go copy with me.

Bump for Fred. He's a gifted writer and his books are MUST READING. Especially "The GosPool" if you love and appreciate the characters in our great sport.

I don't know nothing about Amazon Kindle. I got his real books. :)

I also have both of your books and enjoyed reading and learning from them !

But it looks like the e-reader is now the future of book publishing now with all of the e-readers are coming to market. And now with the new ipad coming to market it will be a even bigger market.

Its a shame however that they need to review the book prior to releasing it. I would think if its a tech issue that the document creation software would alert you to a issue prior posting a final draft for submission:confused:
