DMIRO Tour News

Can I interject a few questions?

If Mike Andrews has such an issue with Allen Hopkins, why would he use the $1,000 to put players into an Allen Hopkins event (SBE)? If you are done with your relationship with Allen, use the money to put the players in a Joss os GSBT or Viking event. Why would you use it to support the man you despise that did you so wrong??

If the tour would have continued had you not gone to Haiti to secure that country, why don't you sell the tour? Surely Shannon or Mike Janis wouldn't just disban their tour. It has some value.

Am I the only one that thought that Allen Hopkins had a direct hand in this tour? That was the impression I had. If Allen was concerned for the players, have him read this forum and get involved in all the short pays and no pays that go on in the pool world. He can start there instead of creating a new issue with this Mike Andrews and his tour.

Never said, that as I have AGAIN stated, I kept the year end money, and I have it right here. End of story, what part of that do you NOT understand? I didn't want it to go in to an account where I could not control the integrity of it.

SO here is what I am going to do, and what I should have thought of in the first place. I am going to send the money I have to Allen Sr. PayPal account, and then he will be accountable for the player’s money, and HE can deal with the players *****ing about the yearend event. Since my idea of paying entry fees to the SBE was such a bad idea. Now once I do that, I have nothing more to say, and nothing more to deal with this BS that Jr. is trying to twist on to me.

Go back to France and have your dad pay for it again.

See, you really hate writing, don't you?

I'm done trying to have a public debate with you over this. This was never public matter anyway. Other tours work because they have a successful, rational business plan - something you never had. I tried to warn you of this before you started, but it didn't get through.

Weird how I'm the only one that saw this trainwreck coming and got out before it started, huh?

Well, I just got off the phone with you since you called me to "discuss" things, bravo.

As far as we know now, there are 6 amateurs and 1 pro (Wilke) that Mike has money for. I do not know the amateur names yet, but I assume Mike will be providing them.

As mentioned, I am not a part of this tour, I only got involved with this post because Mike posted an outright lie. My father and I do not know what players were promised on this tour.

I realize there was supposed to be some sort of year end event. Can some of the players from this tour please write to me and explain what was promised? Since my fathers name is still a part of this tour, I want to work to find a solution to make everyone somewhat happy. Yes, the tour was a good idea in theory, it just didn't pan out... so now we need to find a way to make an acceptable ending for it...

I can't promise anything, I just want to know what was promised out there, and a description of what was going on at the events. I dont really trust Mike at all, so I'd like to hear what people have to say. Me and my father will make a decision based on the different inputs we receive plus all the facts we've heard.

And for the record, Mike, my dad did not pay for me to go to France. I run a business, and I get paid for the work I do - that's how I manage to make a living and support myself. I know you had to find a way to take a shot at me because I kept joking about you living with your grandma. Sorry if I hurt your feelings.

But the logo that you admit that you created states

"Allen Hopkins Presents"

Can't be any plainer than that.

I don't care what anyone says, but when you put a name in the spotlight, it signals they are a major part of the event. So whether he wanted limited involvement or not, the logo says it all.

Yes, I agree. You have no idea how much I advised my father against being a part of this, especially using his name as such.

He agreed to lend his name to the tour because he believed in the format and the concept. He was brought on to oversee the formats and payouts, and to lend some credibility to a new tour. As far as I know, no players have been "shorted" their payouts. Yes, the events did not go as planned. Mike worked very hard to make this work, of that i am certain. This was a major project that is very difficult to pull off on such a big scale in the firts year.

So here we are. It is not immoral or illegal if a business does not go as planned. Mike tried to run the tour, and could not succeed. I applaud his effort, he honestly made it further than I thought he would.

We just have to figure out what to do next. I only got involved with this post because I did not like the post Mike made making false accusations about my father and our events. Mike knows full well that my dad does not get on AZ Billiards, so I have to read and respond to any postings addressed to him. It is easy to get online and write things when you know the person you are talking about won't be there to respond. I am stuck in the middle, and admittedly I am quite biased in this situation. I was not privy to every conversation they had, and I declined to be a partner in the beginning of the tour. Again, I didn't come here saying negative and untrue things about Mike first - I only came to respond.

So, I just want to make things good and move forward. I want to know what was promised and what players expected out of this. I didn't want to be involved in this tour from the beginning (and urged my father to get out as well) because I saw this coming. Now, I have no choice but to deal with it in an effort to maintain the integrity that I believe our events have earned over the years.

You are absolutely correct, his name across that logo implies a direct hand and some responsibility. If his name wasn't across the logo, you would have never heard from me in the first place. However, when my George Foreman grill stops working, it ain't Georges' fault. It's an endorsement, that's all. And of course I see the difference in the scope of these two things, I'm just making a point.

George Foreman is not going to put his name on a grill that catches people's houses on fire. Or should take precaution in doing as such.

And you or your father are not selling a product, a tangible item. You are 'Presenting' a tour. You need to compare apples to apples. Let me help you. It is comparable to when there is a boxing match and it states 'Don King Presents' or 'Golden Boy Promotions' presents. It NOT ONLY lends credibility to the fight you are about to watch but also lends that Don King and Golden Boy are going to profit or attempt to profit off of the event.

Again, it was your logo. Your wording. Your implication.

Reminds me of a song

Isn't it strange...Isn't it queer...

But where are the clowns

Quick, send in the clowns

Don't bother, DrMikeUSN is here

Yeah man, I get it. I was half teasing with thee Foreman reference.

Maybe I havent made it clear. I am here to determine the best course of action. I cannot change what has happened. I was not a part of this tour. I understand the ramifications of my dad assigning his name to this tour.

That aside, I am trying to determine what to do now. I want to know what Mike told people out there at the actual events. I know there was supposed to be a year end event. Can some people please write and tell me what they were promised?

I just saw Mikes post above, and I realize I missed the names that were posted earlier. I was just thrown into all of this again today, so I will have to talk with my dad and figure out a plan. Either way, we will come up with something to try and make everyone happy.

Yes, I admit - things did not work as planned. I can't change what happened, I can only try and move forward.

And yes Mike, we called Shawn on conference call and he does not recall the conversation. So, we have 2 people claiming 2 different things, what would you like me to do? My dad says they talked, Shawn says they didn't. That proves nothing to me. Obviously, you believe your buddy and I believe my dad. Obviously, someone is lying or mistaken. Nothing proven.

And Mike, please tell me where I claimed you were running away with money? I don't recall saying that, I just said the money wasn't in the account that you were supposed to be depositing in. Other people may think you are "running away" with it, but I never even implied that, I just said the money wasn't where it was supposed to be. The account that you claimed you had no access to, remember? I understand it may be in your hands now, and that's fine - it's just not what i thought was agreed to in the beginning - in the bank my dad had control over.

This is why I don't trust you, in case you, or anyone else, is wondering.

Do you want to drop it yet, or shall we continue?

...
I failed I admitted it, now I am trying to make it right, and getting abused for it. God, why am I sitting here even reading this thread.

Per your initial post -
"I will not be responding to this thread, so if you have questions e-mail me. Again, I will NOT be responding to this thread. "

My suggestions -
1. Stick to what you said as prolonging this argument serves no purpose.
2. Mail a check to the 6 amateur people for the amount of their entry fee that was supposed to be paid - they are entitled to it.
3. Return any promotional products/materials you received gratis to whoever provided them.

Determining fault is pointless now. It didn't work out - move on.

Regardless of anything you wish; here is what I am going to do. I am trying to make good, and I think this is a fair way of doing it.

Entry Fees Paid for in the 2010 SBE.
Michael Yednak, NYC tour stop. Amateur Event.
Rob Krull, Pittsburgh tour stop. Amateur Event.
Eric Chartlon, Roanoke tour stop. Amateur Event.
Dima Kavahn, Richmond tour stop. Amateur Event.
Josh Keller, Salisbury tour stop. Amateur Event.
Erin McManus, NYC tour stop. Female Event.

Now I hope you all can see where I am coming from, and accept that fact that I will be paying some entry fees with the funds. And we can part ways with a good feeling, not a negitive one.

I'm good with this.

i dont think it is fair

I played as hard as I could, won entry, just like these other players, but they get enrty because why? I don't want to seem petty here, but picking out these players, one of which I don't believe qualified, and paying there entry isn't enough. I played hard, won my entry, and because of paying the 'tour regestration' ended up down $10, even though I cashed. I think the best thing is for allen/tiger/ob/delta and the other sponsors to put something together for the players that can make it to the sbe. I do applaud allen jr. for stepping up and doing what he can, we will see what happens. I feel like all the ppl who got duped by this guy share in some responsibility. If my name was on it I would want to make sure I come out of this in a reputable way, so I think the companies that signed on should do something.
I understand it isn't going to be perfect and everyone won't be happy, but singleing out a few players isn't the best way in my opinion.
I am not a business major, nor do I know 'how it works' those are just some thoughts about ways to get this fiasco under reigns.

Freeroll event...

OK, we have come up with an idea and hopefully it will be suitable. As far as I know, there was supposed to be a freeroll event at the end of the season, held at the Super Billiards Expo. Mike was supposed to be holding some percentage of entry fees from every event, but I am not sure how much.

So, my father and I will still hold this event at the Super Billiards Expo. Mike will obviously not be around to run it, but I think we can handle that part.

Since I was not involved in this tour, I need to know a few things.

This is what i need to know:
1. How many DMIRO events were actually held.
2. How many players/total prize pool for each event.
3. How much money was held from each event.
4. The top 8 finishers from each event.
5. Contact information for all of these players (the top 8 each event)

I figure this should be fairly simple enough for a tour director to provide.

These players will be invited to this freeroll event, which will be held Wednesday, March 17. As far as I now know, Mike has held approximately $1200 or so for this event. So the players will be invited to come and play in a free tournament for this prizepool. We will determine payouts once we know exactly how much money we have. This is also dependent on Mike submitting the money that he has been holding. Again, I was not a part of this tour, so I don't know what happened all along.

I am going to send this exact message to Mike in a direct email also, because I know his affection for keeping all of this on the forums because he thinks people are lying about him, so here it is.

Once I know the exact amounts I will post more here. After receiving all of the contact info, I will notify all the players as well, since I realize Mike will no longer have the time or ability to do this since he will be in Haiti.

Of course, I realize all of the players may not want to travel for a freeroll with a prizepool as such, and thats fine. The ones who show up will play for the money. If 8 players show up out of a possible 64, then those 8 will play. Its a free tourney for the money that was held, and everyone has an equal opportunity to play for it. Again, as far as I know - this is all that was promised. I know there were not as many events as planned, and I'm sorry, but things happen.

I do not know what Mike had planned as far as format for the year-end event, but we will conduct the event in the same manner that he had envisioned - if feasible.

I hope this sounds acceptable to people. If you have any suggestions or criticisms, feel free to let me know.

Thanks.

Total of 1260, that I have and 400 your dad has. $1,660 as I had
stated perviously.

I don't have contact information.

The format is 10 ball, single elimination. Top 8 paid.

Thats it. I will forward a cashiers check for the $1,260 I have.

*******************************************

That is the message direct from Mike. (shown above)

Unfortunately, I do not know what the total prizepools were for each event, but you can all see what was held. He states that my dad has $400, but I know that we owe money to a pool room that paid a deposit to host an event which was cancelled. I will get back here soon with an actual amount that is available for the "freeroll".

I am confident that Mike will send in the $1260, but we are waiting on that as well.

Looks like a total of 60 players (for some reason event 6 only has 4 names - I guess turnout was low). I know there are a few duplicates, and I assume Mike won't be coming back from Haiti to play in this... so the max field will definitely be less than 60.

As you can see, he does not have contact info for all of these players, so I do not know how to contact them. I am not sure how he intended to notify them of the final event without contact info, but maybe some of you can help me. If anyone out there know a way to contact the above players, could you let me know? I will run the list by my dad and see which ones he knows personally... I know there are many on there that he does. Also, many of these may be in our database, but I need some time to research.

It looks like the format was intended to be 10 ball single elim. It does not seem fair to me to mix the pros and ams together, so maybe we can modify the format to mimic the tour format so pros and ams dont meet until the final 8 or something... I don't know, just want to put this out there and see if anyone has thoughts...

Thanks again for everyones understanding and help in this situation. Please bear with us as we figure out an appropriate solution...
