Does anyone make people pay off after every game or every set?

I'll play you some on Saturday and we can pay after every game if it makes you feel good on the inside. :)

Are you planning on booking another loser? Satuday is V-Day man what's wrong with you, you damn pool hall junkie. You gotta go buy your wife some edible panties and....do kids read this board.

I will play you some more though, but never for 12 hours again, that was insane to me.

Betting by the game

I have always played by the game paying off more than sets, I'm a bar hopper , if your loosing playing by the game you will bare down much more after hitting the hip every game, seems like its much easier to raise the bet playing by the game also.

When playing and paying off by the game its good to post the first game on the light, then you'll never get aired!

Here's why I like it. Say you are playing one pocket for $50/game. Well if all you are doing is moving a coin around the guy who is stuck doesn't feel it as much as he would if the money was already gone.

This is one reason I don't mind the coin. You can usually win much more with the coin than out of the pocket. I have beaten people for more than they could cover on at least 5 occasions. Of the six I remember clearly below is what I got instead:

1. Predator cue (sold for $100 more than owed)
2. Joss cue and case (sold the cue for what I was owed and kept case)
3. Cheap cue (net loss about $80)
4. Payed the next day plus a bar tab ($80 additional profit)
5. Received $600 of $4,000 (figured it the entire time)
6. Aired for $70

In all honesty, I believe I wouldn't have gotten nearly the money I did if I had made them pay every game/set. I also get a dirty joy out of totally busting a guy.

I feel like the people you know "real good" sometimes are the main offender. Paying at a $100 is okay sometimes. I'd rather just get it and post, get it and post. Kind of like you would do in a ring game. In a ring game you dont normally see people keeping track with anything other than money.,

Seeing that you are in Des Moines, I have a feeling you are talking about Jamie Fenton, the world's most common air barrel. I would make him post before taking the keys out of the ignition when pulling into the pool room parking lot! A lot of talent there to be such a punk.

LOL, you are bad. Busting a guy is a bonus. I don't have the same luck as you with IOU's. I always come out loser. I just want the guys money, don't want the cues, cases, or fancy chalk.

No sir Jamie is not the offender. Actually there is no person this thread is about. I just have been thinking it is a much better way to gamble. If everyone here did it there wouldn't be half the problems there are around here. I think it's just a good idea.

You clearly had a bad experience with Jamie, I had one too...I got paid though, he's not that bad.

Right on David...I think the way you think.

LOL you are hilarious T-Dog! If we play that long we have to at least mix it up a little bit.

Playing one pocket it is kinda nice if you are playing people you know to use a coin, takes away the whos break is it.

Post it or get an AIR BARREL

But if this became standard fare, what would the crooks do with all their free time?

Mike, you gambling again? Did you move again and find another unsuspecting pond? ;)

If you are playing with a friend, payment should not be an issue. If you are playing with anyone else you make them pay after every game or every set, that way the most you can get aired out for is one game or one set.

Unless you like air barrel's.

just depends on who it is. Usually if its someone I know, I'll just mark it for anything under 100 a set. More than a 100 I like to pay as I go and get paid as I go.

New people I like to pay or get paid as I go.

Well the Mens Club that is not the Mens Club any longer, as they lost their CHARTER CLUB Status, plays for what would call pocket change, but before ever game the money is put under the rails, and when the game is over the winner collects. The system has worked well as long as I have lived here, and no one ever get stiffed.

kept a twenty in my shirt pocket

Excellent post, Hu. People now can get away with a lot, now that kicking someone's ass is illegal, justified or not...

I have known quite a few of those old road scufflers, and the popular consensus is that the house cue is not the most practical weapon of choice. You're likely to break it after a couple of good thwacks, and you'll probably have to buy the owner of the bar a new cue...

If push comes to shove, I'm grabbing the 8 ball, and sending it flying. If I miss, I've got 14 more to throw, and the one that's left becomes a fist pack. :)

I always kept a 20 in my shirt pocket. I broke a house cue before I used it. A full length cue isn't much of a weapon, snap a foot or so off of one and it has two very nasty ends to work with plus the middle. Sticks break pretty easily and I'd just snap it by flexing it in my hands and go to town if somebody was trying to stiff me or I'd head for the door if I was just trying to get out in one piece. The twenty would sail on the bar or counter when I went by for the house cue and I was usually welcome back the next time I passed by in a few weeks or a month or two. A good house cue was about $12 so twenty dollars for one made me a high roller.

I only used the pointy end once and the middle or blunt end a few more times but the reaction when I snapped a cue without warning made for some very funny stories all by itself. I never dropped the busted pool cue until I made it to my vehicle and nobody that wasn't involved to begin with ever made much effort to get between me and my vehicle. Never had to deal with the law after these little incidents either.

There were some raw deals of course but things were a lot simpler when every twerp didn't think he could run to the law if you called him a bad name or explained the consequences of an air barrel.

I ran out of gas at 8:30PM...by 1AM you should have been winning!

If only I didnt have to go beat all the champions in the 9ball tournament.

So, are you still using the Vday dodge........ I promise not to put the 23 behind the 1 when I break. :)
