Anybody use this stuff. I had a falling out with my DuPont dealer. $236 per gallon. I don't want to buy Jeff Gordon's car, just paint a couple of cues. This PPG is $156 a gallon. How does it work for you?...JER

I used it when I was spraying. I had also used a couple variations of chromaclear & I used Nason. The PPG was my favorite. It seemed to cure quite a bit faster & was just easier to use. It didn't stink things up like dupont, either. Looks great & easy to use, plus lasts real well. If I were to start spraying again, that would be my choice of auo clear.

There are at least a couple of CMs here that use it. I started using it several months ago in my ongoing search of 'something better'. It comes under the PPG heading of 'Velocity Clear'. They state that under ideal conditions, it can cure in 1 1/2 hrs. It can 'cook' cure in under 20 mins.
All in all, I think it's a pretty good finish. I first thought it was a bit pricey until I remembered that I only mix 1/2 teaspoon to shoot a shaft per session. Maybe 2 teaspoons to shoot a handle. 1 gal = a lot of cues.

What do you do now that you don't spray? Your finishes are perfect... beautiful.

I have been using PPG Shop Line JC660 spot and panel finish and am very happy with it.I wait 24 hrs. to rub out but it can be rubbed out much sooner if needed.

I use it and love it. 3 to 5 minutes in between coats. Dry enough to handle in less than 2 hours. I sand and polish it out after 24 hours. I buy it by the quart with the hardener for under $70 i think. No reducer required.

I have been using DC 3000 for a couple years now. It has a very good build to it and it dries in 2 hours or less!! I have also used Dupont Snap Dry also. I like it also but not as much as the DC 3000 . Snap Dry is a little harder to use. But it is very easy also! Both are priced about the same. I prefer DC 3000.

I know NOTHING! :groucho: (ok.. wrong image but you get the picture :) )

Best thing is tho, I don't even need a mask because there's no fumes or fine dust ;) Just a simple attic fan mounted in front of my finishing lathe for a light breeze is overkill. No more filtered & sealed spray booth, compressor, spray gun, mask, etc. Now my finishing tools consist of a ketchup bottle, FM radio, & a deck of cards. Life is good in my shop

Heinz Ketchup and Bicycle deck, the best combo ?

Ok, I had to ask.... At the risk of hijacking the thread further... What's the ketchup bottle for??? LOL Oh wait... Maybe I shouldn't ask...

Cheers!
