mainstream view it appears dark and mysterious.
to many cons to thisIf you want oscar winning performance, go watch The Hustler or The Color of Money. Its a typical american comedy, the writers will try to squeeze as many laughs as possible, whether its pool, senor Chang's contempt, or how to pronounce Bagel.
BTW, where can I get a copy of this?
Pool as it was meant to be played, with a full range of motion and optimal comfort.
The video presented pool in a very benign way. Entertainment isn't truth,or stating an opinion one way or the other,it is a vehicle. When pool is a part of that vehicle,it may be used in a positive or negative context. That's the viewers choice. Pool has a lot of cash in it,that's why it is one of America's longest surviving industries. Tens of Millions of people pick up a cue and bang balls around with no more devotion than drinking that next beer. They, and over a Million League Player's drop Billions of Quarter's into Bar Boxes every year. I chose that because they contribute more revenue overall that Large Table play. If you make your living from Cue Sports, that is wonderful. That means you work every day to stay one step ahead of the competition. What did you mean by "putting asses in seats..."? If you are talking spectator's,I am not certain that's the way. Putting people at the table, educating them to further their enjoyment, and giving them what they need to grow with their new found interest is perhaps a suitable option. Then lastly, you asked if (we)I think that the top players deserve a base salary? No. Because that means they would have to be unified enough to agree to such terms under the control of an institution that would determine it. Deserve has Nothing to do with it. They do it like you do it...earn it.I have always felt that if pool was more popular that there would be more cash...
I think you are looking at this game through the eyes of a hobbiest there is another point of veiw to consider. Many people in this world depend on a living from cue sports. It is our duty as players to try and make our lives better by growing other peoples love of the game. In other words putting asses in seats...
I love pool!! Thing is I also love getting paid to play it. If it doesnt grow I don't get any more pay...that makes jack a dull boy.
Don't you think that the top players in the world deserve a base salary?

Thanks Scott. That is very kind of you. You and I both know that our wonderful association with pool gives us much more than we can possibly give to it. We do it,and that is our expression of "Love". Money is a by-product of success. Again,Thank You My Friend.Carl...tap, tap, tap...for a well-thought-out, accurate, and eloquent response! I can't tell you how many "champions" I have met who believe the world "owes" them a living, just because they are good at what they do!
