What would you consider to be the Best portable bridge?

I agree, they are awkward...But if you dont use them alot, or practice with them allot then they will be awkward...So practicing with a bridge should be a part of practicing...period!

But, what are some of the best bridges that are out there? I have seen some guys whip out a telescopic bridge, and thought to myself, "This CAT has EVERYTHING in his cue case" Then I look down and he indeed does, he has about EVERY cue ball you can imagine:rolleyes:

But what are some of the best portable bridges out there in your opinion...

Shawn

You're right... if you don't practice with it... it will be like holding a snake to some people.

I'm a big fan of the moosehead bridge. It has a cue position for each kind of shot so you are never left trying to balance it on a weird angle. It pops on and off my break cue very easily and remains in place solidly. It's cheap, maybe 7 bucks so I buy 3 or 4 at a time and keep them in various places in case I lose one. And, my break cue is heavy... 22oz, so when I have it on my break cue, it provides a really solid base for the bridge unlike some of the skinny house bridges I've seen.

But, the biggest bonues to me.... many house racks are metal. that metal is the bane of my nice clean scratchless shaft. The moosehead bridges are plastic. I don't have to worry about scratching my shaft up using them.

I agree Greg. I prefer plastic bridges. But, the pool hall I go to has soft plastic bridges and sliding your shaft over it is like trying to slide nekkid on a rubber wrestling mat

I am gonna look into getting me a nice portable bridge, maybe a delrin bridge...or I might make me a bridge out of some hard teflon that I got from my last job and make my own where I can slide it on my cue.

Who needs a bridge? Switch hands on em. At the very least its a good shark move.

That is true.....I was also thinking of taking off my shoe and using my left foot as a bridge.......seee, this is why I like AZB, I just get more smartester every day

I can shoot with either hand, but sometimes you just need the extra length that a bridge can provide.

My current personal favorite is the Spinali bridge head...it is/was the original to the Moosehead bridge head. I have owned both versions. The Spnali's are no longer in production, to the best of my knowledge.

The differences are that with the Moosehead bridge head, you will need to sand down the mold seams for a smooth scratch-free surface. With the Spinali, you don't. Also, the center rubber grommet is sturdier and of slightly higher quality on the Spinali...some of the Moosehead's can have a sloppy fit over the end of a cue.

The Spinali bridge head was produced by Spinali Woodworking of Modesto, CA. Since I cannot find a Patent # or Patent Pending on either the bridge head itself or the packaging, I can only assume that they did not attempt to patent this design, and the imitations came quickly, and cheaper. I got lucky and picked up 3 of them off of eBay a while back, all in their original packaging. I gave one to a friend, am using one, and saving the other in case mine gets legs and walks off.

I have just found the the Spinali/Moosehead design to be more useful than any of the others I have tried. I always carry one because I am NOT going to put my nice shafts onto a metal bridge head...can you say...ding, ding, ding!

There was a guy who worked for Diamond a few years ago. Sorry don't remember his last name. But he made a bridge that was by far one of the best ones I'd ever seen. It was AWESOME!!! However production was tough back then not sure if he found a better way to make them. Or if they are gone completly...anyone know what I'm talking about? His first name is Larry.

I like the moosehead. THey are using some funky looking bridge at the SBE this weekend. I am not sure what it is called, but it looks like it has potential.

Might be something for me to check into...thanks Robin!

Shawn, I'm going th say the London Bridge. It did get moved from London to Lake Havasu, AZ.
Other than that, I carry a Moose Head. Pop it onto a bar stick or my breaker when I need it.

The pool hall should provide proper bridges - the kind that screw on to the shaft. Just one more thing that pool can be learned from snooker:D

I have a Moosehead and the pain is that it slides onto the rest shaft through a rubber sleeve that cannot provide a solid stable platform for the cue.

Always glad to reinforce the stereotypes the whirl around in Americans' heads.

When I got my table I bought a moosehead bridge but as soon as it arrived I could see I would need to take a dremel to it to smooth out the mold lines in the grooves. Even then, with all the grooves and ridges you can easily ding your shaft if you should bump it on the head while getting into position.

I found the Tiger Corona and love it. It is a classic shaped head and is made out of leather so there is no way to scratch your shaft. It stores flat in your case pocket and fits snugly over just about any cue such as a house cue or your break stick.

Amen

The just a bridge is the best!

If you have ever played any of those video games where you would pick up needed items along the way that you had no idea how important they were until you had to use it . That's the justa bridge .....one day it will save you.
Of course I have never had to use it against a level 5 ice dragon but then again this is pool.

I've had a Corona bridghead in my case for years. I love it. The only way I would trade it in would be if they came out with one designed like the moosehead, but in the same leather!!!!
