Secrets

If the 1-Ball is more dense and it's the same size as the rest of the balls then it will have more mass, and therefore, weigh more.......... lol, I'm gullible, I'm going to have to check that out haha

Diamond smart tables have a density sensor in the cue ball separator that reads the density of the balls, when the cue ball passes through it, because it has a higher density reading, it gets kicked off and returned as a cue ball....well, that same density sensor will kick off the one ball as well, so it has to be turned down until it lets the one ball pass by, yet still kick off the cue ball;)

just a guess ...

I suppose that over enough time, it may not be the same size anymore ...

All 1 balls have a higher density rating than the rest of the balls in the set because if you think about it, in all pool games the one ball is always the point ball, so it's designed more to take the impact of the break;)

No one teaches a student everything, it is just part of being human we all want to win until the day we die!!!!!;)

I try to teach everything i am able to for sure. If i feel, that the student/guy is really interested i am totally satisfied to show him all i could.
At least there not really secrets- the art of billiards is, to be able to create your training seriously, have fun and that you er able to *recall* the correct picture with your subconcious mind at the right moment (easy, hm? :-)
If you understand the fundamentals and technics,it s just about you what you do with them.

I was a player long before I became a table mechanic. When I played 8 ball in Europe, last pocket...I'd always tell the guy racking to make sure the one ball was up front because I could see it better:D but I never put it up front when I had to rack...unless the guy said something. And trust me, when you're playing $1,000 a game last pocket in Frankfurt, you take advantage of the game if you can, makes for running out much easier if the balls spread real nice:D...or leave them clusterd if the other guys got the break:D

Playing for money is a different thing :-)
I ve seen so many amazing players close to do suicide after being beaten by a guy where all ppl thought he usualy just at the table to pay......
I played a guy a long time ago who s usualy a really amazing shooter- and HE WANTED to gamble (for sure i was never really a gambler/hustler)- he was begging.....so long until he gave me a handicap where i thought to myself "what does that guy think who he is....* and played with him. A friend was with me, who really had enough money to not think about loosing and he told me *just play*- so he bet on me. I destroyed that guy about 12 hours. We begun with a large handicap and at the end we played from zero--He wasn t able to beat me even not from zero.
He beaten me many times on tournament and fun-matches- but he was just a bit too proud on himself to *play just pool* if he was playin for money. I definitley know that he was the better player.....but playin for money is a totally different thing.

Is the 1 the same size as the two or twelve? I understand the cue ball bit, but not the 1-ball so much. Are you referring to only coin-op tables? On a regular 9' table I rarely hit the head ball in an 8-ball rack anyway and many players I know when I watch them break an 8-ball rack they too hit the ball just behind the head ball.

If this is true then I'd want the 1 placed in a specific spot on a 14.1 rack.

My head hurts! I need to see proof! :p

Do you have what you would consider to be secrets about the game that you just cant tell because your scared someone else might take your information or secrets and beat you with it.

Though knowledge is paramount , performing the task is another story. Most of the time someone is sharing a " secret" it is to a less experienced player, and if not...well you might win with it but to beat me you better pack a lunch.

I've always been pretty good at thin cut shots. A good friend of mine hates cut shots and used to choose to bank rather than try the cuts. One day I showed him how I set up and aim my cuts and now he beats me with them all the damn time :crying:

Knowledge of how to use the diamonds.

All sorts of kicking and banking systems. Learning tracks for the different games such as memorizing as many 1-pocket tracks as my brain can retain.

They're not really secrets, but most people don't take the time to memorize them and it gives me an edge in safety battles also.

Practicing when I practice. Playing when I'm playing. Don't mix the two ever.

I freely share "secrets" however I know that very few will recognize the value of what they are told and go to the effort required to use them.

I don't hide anything from anyone, and go out of my way to tell people lesser-known info. I guess the only secret I don't want someone to know is my hand shakes like a leaf when playing for more than 4 dollars.

Heres one ,,,,,,,,,,,,,there,s ony 8 different looks to pocket every ball,,,,,,,,,,

The 1 is the same size, just try it and see for yourself, but do it on more than one break:grin:

I have some info that I cant bring myself to tell people when I notice that they dont know,I will and try to help ones that want help but I like to feel I have one up on them I guess, glad Im not alone lol. Thanks for the replies

Most of what I've learned to do over the last few years I've learned on my own or from watching what happens when others are playing. A lot of it seems to be mental or just little changes here and there when my game starts to improve. I've gotten plenty of help from others in the past, so I'm more than happy to pass on anything I've learned. Besides that, I'd rather help my friends to play better so that I have better opponents to play against. Sometimes they'll find different ways to apply things, too. Of course, I'll save what I have to say until the end if I'm playing a match or gambling.

Listen close...I will only share this one time...

If you always make your NEXT shot....you will never lose. Regardless of how great your opponent is...or how much weight your giving up.

I don't withhold anything. It doesn't matter what I tell someone, if they don't spend years practicing it will never do them any good.

However I have been falsely accused of withholding info in the past. I was playing snooker and on a couple of occassions I played some complicated positional shots and my opponent asked me how I did it.
I responded "bottom, left hand side". He said "I know the spin, but how did you make it". "you just make it" I replied. My opponent got frusterated and said "If your not going to tell me, just say so".

What I was trying to get at but didn't iterate very well was, you've got to seperate you mind from the action and just do it. Let your body do what you've been training it to do.

I guess you can file that under, as shootingarts mentioned, secrets that some people won't recognize the value in.
