What is Borana Andoni's speed?

The point here is they are from New York. That;s where you get the most coverage of anywhere in the world. She's good for the sport regardless of her play.:thumbup2:

Yes, she recently participated in the WPBA Regional Tour Championships at Hardtimes Bellflower last February, if I remember correctly.

She happened to be on table 6 which was setup for streaming, I believe she lost that match. People that were there said that she didn't do to well the first day.

Table 6 is really a one pocket table at HT. It's being generous to call the corners 4". That was the table that Oscar played Morra on in the TAR match. I wouldn't hold it against her that she didn't have her best day on that table.

A few months ago she's on the cover of Inside Pool with a cover story about being an aspiring pro. In the March issue back in the regional tournament results she won a local event in Brooklyn for B-D players.

WTH?

To answer your question, I have seen Borana play a few times now. I would consider her a good amateur player, who continues to improve steadily. She would have a chance against all but the very best amateur women players. The best amateur women, players like Ming Ng and Tammy Wesley, are pro speed players. Borana may be a year or more away from making it to the professional level. But if she sticks with it and continues to improve, she should get there.

Yep, I must have missed the copy of the Billiard Magazine the had either TAR, Mark, Greg, Shannon, or Jay on it! This goes back to the promotional aspect of growing our sport. Go ask non pool playing people you work with who Jasmine Oushan or Ga Young Kim are...none will know. Now ask them if they ever heard of the Black Widow...I'll bet some have. These players, some of which I have personally met and I consider good friends are working tirelessly not only to promote themselves but our sport in general.

My last post...have to get up at 3:30am.......be well!!!

You're correct, none of them (except Shannon) have been on the cover of any magazines...because they are a bunch of ugly dudes (sorry Justin, Chad, Mark, Greg and Jay but if I gotta speak the truth :p)! That's the ONLY reason Borana was on the cover. She's an above average league player and that's all there is too it. I'm not saying she won't be a top player at some point in her life, but she isn't at this time. And if you think being on the cover of a magazine means that you're promoting the sport then in the last year I'd guess 50+ people that are not on team Kiss Of Death have done the exact same amount promotion that they have as a team. Also, it's good to know that Jeanette was a total unknown until KOD came along. All her past titles and TV appearances didn't have ANYTHING to do with that. Well, maybe her second job as a bowling commentator for ESPN helped along with KOD's massive promotion. ;)

This is really you're argument? I'd love to see how well that marketing would go without the tournaments that Mark, Greg, Shannon or Jay help promote, put on or fund. As for TAR, I know they're a group of donkeys, but they have done a pretty fair job of getting some great pool out to alot of people.

The women on the Kiss of Death team have done nothing to earn the scorn of anyone. They play well together and won a national team championship. They're not out there over selling themselves. The fact that they aren't yet Top 16 is in no way a slam. How many of us are top 16?

Each of these women is promoting pool, some doing it big time. They are giving to pool, not taking from it. If someone wanted their autograph, and they had said no, there would be some dipsh*t slamming them for that. They just can't win.

I wish Borana, and each of the rest of the team the very best, and if they aspire to become pros I hope they make it. They can only do so by hard work & talent, and that's the way they want it.

I love the word scorn! It's not used nearly enough if you ask me.

5 players on kiss of death team with a captain?>? didnt they win a big team title last year??? Im a nobody, so Ill take my team vs their team in vegas. Captained by Chris Bartram, My team will consist of myself, Fatboy, Barry Bartram, BillyChips, Sarah Rousey.

I think we will all be in vegas, but I understand if they wouldnt want to play a team full of bangers and Sarah, its cool.:grin::grin:

if we play the kiss of death every week ill play.

Alright. Who else can we get? I know disco is in for sure. How many players do we even need for a league team? And if you're our only master, can we still play in the open division at nationals?

In case any of my players decide not to play, I have John Mars on the bench ready to go. so add another banger to the list, LOL

This is so unbelievably tempting, i am seriously finding it hard to just walk away.

Give me strength.:ignore:

Just let it out. Holding back is just gonna tear you apart inside and the next thing you know we'll all see "SUPERSTAR Murders Entire McDonald's Staff Over Cold French Fries" on CNN.

AHHHHH and the problem with pool and pool players continues LOL!!!

KOD, Borana, Gail, John Doe.....................who cares?!?! As long as they are GOOD ambassadors of our beloved cue sport PERIOD!!!!!!

Winning a TEAM national event............not very easy. So KUDOS to them!!!! Also good for them, that have used it as a spring board for themselves to do bigger and better things. AND even bigger KUDOS for them, for staying together and competing this year at the MASTERS level!!!!!

I wish as players we could start supporting those who have found a way to be successful REGARDLESS of what level they are at. Once we figure that out........the cue sports may start getting the recognition it so truly deserves.

saw her play at the SBE women's event agaist Jen Baretta. it was probably the worst pro match i have ever seen, ever. took over 3 hours to race to 7 (including being put on the shot clock). neither played very well. i've seen jb play much better than that. depsite the fact that they are 2 smoking hot ladies even that couldnt make the match watchable at the end. thats the only time i have ever seen borana play, but if thats her usual speed then prolly about 1/2 the audience could have taken her. shouldnt a good ambassador for the sport be so b/c of the high level they play at and not just b/c of the way they look?
