What is Borana Andoni's speed?

Who you wanna play? John Schmidt, 10-ball, bar box? That sounds like a good game. Work on that! I should start a thread. I wonder if he'll get mad at me. I don't think he likes me. I'm kinda bored.

Is Kirkwood coming to Vegas? He should get in action if he is. When I was out there in 2007 he got in a game with, I believe, Ernesto but Jason was way too drunk to actually play and ended up paying off at 4 (they were playing 8 ahead) and going and passing out. I ran into him the next morning and he said it was one of the dumbest games he ever got in. It was an entertaining conversation.

damn find me a game that is not so tough.

Yep, I must have missed the copy of the Billiard Magazine the had either TAR, Mark, Greg, Shannon, or Jay on it! This goes back to the promotional aspect of growing our sport. Go ask non pool playing people you work with who Jasmine Oushan or Ga Young Kim are...none will know. Now ask them if they ever heard of the Black Widow...I'll bet some have. These players, some of which I have personally met and I consider good friends are working tirelessly not only to promote themselves but our sport in general.

My last post...have to get up at 3:30am.......be well!!!

I guess, you didn't read the Billiard Digest when they named Mark Griffin "Man of the Year" for all the pool he has promoted, all year long, every year ---

It was a very small article, probably cause Mark G. didn't look as great in a cleavage baring tank top:rolleyes:

I wish KOD and everyone best luck pursuing their dreams and career but let's be realistic!

yes sunny you are right about mark and greg they do a lot for pool.

From the list of players that will be there for the US Open 10-ball, I feel the following will gamble. I recommend staying away from the ones in red as they were born on an island with a pool player farm. I know they have some sort of magnet on you and your money, but I think you've given them plenty for the time being. Also, stay away from the deaf kid I put in blue. I feel that he might have come from the same farm as the guys in red but somehow he got the tall gene from the island. The ones in green, those are the ones you should play. As for the ones in black, I'm on the fence about some of them and some I think you should get some weight.

Who is this Mark Griffin guy anyway?

Oh yeah, he is the one that helped out with the transportation to get SunnyDay to the Mosconi cup where she was a fantastic cheerleader urging on team USA to victory!!

Did he do anything else worth mentioning? :D :D :D :D

Hu(I'm gonna be hard to find for awhile!)

Nobody reads. It's all about the picture on the cover!

LOL. Mark is easily one of the top promoters in pool and doesn't get nearly enough recognition for everything he does. Anyone that seems him in Vegas should take 2 seconds to just say 'Thank you' in my opinion.

Wow, I just figured it out and if all 10,000 players out there took 2 seconds to thank Mark it would take 5.55 hours. I guess that's not a good idea since I know how busy he is and 5.55 hours isn't an amount of time he can spare no matter how much he'd love to.

Borana's game

I've known Borana since around when she started playing. I have to tell you that she is one of the most dedicated players that I know. And many of you wouldn't know that she definitely has the killer instinct that players need. I don't personally have it so she passed me up like a rocket as far as a player. All of you that say you have seen her play are talking about one game or two. Well, I've seen her play for years and I can say with confidence that if she progresses at the speed that she has so far, she can be one of the greats.

One thing about her game, as with most people rising, she is not as consistent as she would like to be. But, I saw her run four ten ball racks in a row to win a match at Master Billiards one night. Not consistently, but it's there. She has only been playing for about 4 years, and if you think back when most of you were playing that long, how was your game?

As far as the promotion, Borana has one flaw. She is a player who loves pool to a fault. She resists promotion. She has done some photos for me and some promotional stuff and she is always concerned with her playing being the most important thing as the issue. The fact is that the story in Inside Pool Magazine was a story about her coming to this country and trying to make it as a pool player. Since she was an accomplished violinist and pianist, some would think that pool wasn't really a good choice, but that was her choice because she really loves it.

She is always flattered and a little shy when someone asks her to autograph the magazine cover. But, at least people carry the magazine around looking for her. That is good for the game and the spectators. The whole idea is to break out of this little shell that pool has gotten itself into. I don't know if it is possible, but it will probably take people like Borana, breaking into the mainstream media to improve everyone's situation. Instead of criticizing her, everyone should be crossing their fingers for her.

Thanks,
Jim

One more thing that I wanted to mention. This thread was put up today in the afternoon and it has gotten over 1,500 views already. Her name is starting to draw more attention than her pictures. Well, maybe not. In case you would like to see her website, it is www.boranaandoni.com.

So what is KOD doing in May to promote pool? I'm just curious because it has to be HUGE compared to the little tournament that Mark Griffin is putting on and the TAR scheduled seen below. Seriously, Justin, are you going to sleep in the month of May?

This thread is getting a ton of views because of me. I'm kind of a big deal.

(In my own little world, the statement I just made is true. Please do not ruin it for me. Thank you.)

I'm not gonna lie, she's pretty hot. I'm kinda surprised Charlie Williams hasn't scooped her up in his stable of female players. He seems to have a thing for the ones that are above average players and well beyond average looking.

I'm your huckleberry...

But, I saw her run four ten ball racks in a row to win a match at Master Billiards one night.

She ran a 4-pack in 10-ball? That's strong. I'm with Disco, I'll also take the 7.

Chris...Maybe things have changed since I used to gamble for a living (100 yrs ago), but in my day the Orange Crush was the 5 OUT. So give Borana that, and the snap, and you'll get action! You'll probably still win (because the spot doesn't matter if you don't get to shoot), but it'll be a fun match to sweat!

yes scott the 5 7 and the break is a fair game.

jimM...As an 'accomplished' musician, in two instruments no less, Borana certainly has the skills to become an accomplish poolplayer. Your last sentence says it all, imo!

I've always know the orange crush to be the 5 out and the breaks. The breaks is the crush part of the name. So saying he needs to give her the orange crush and the snaps is stating the breaks twice. Not that it really matters, I just want to throw it out there. I could be 100% wrong too.

I'll take the orange crush from anyone in the world, thats not a pinoy or a world champion or a good looking girl or has been on the cover of a magazine or is a known player or plays above an APA 4, by the way. I don't play good by any means, but I'm a sucker for big spots.
