Mezz vs Schon

Just won playoffs today so im thinking to purchase Mezz or Schon.

For those of you who owned both I would like to hear feedback & comparation and what Mezz shaft have you tried?

Also which one would keep its value better?

Definitely go with the Schon if you are wanting a cue that hold value. Mezz were good when they first came out, but now I question their workmanship. I have owned both, and I only have the schons left. I have worked as a GM in the pool industry, and would never think of going with a Mezz over a Schon nowadays.

I've hit with both and never bought a Mezz.I own several Schon's..The older Rundes are really nice but Evan's play well too.IMO.I'd have to say Schon hands down and you can find some good deals here on AZ.Good luck!Schon's also hold their values,even in this down economy.

I prefer Mezz. I bought my first one a couple months ago. Very pleased with the workmanship and the WD700 taper is perfect for me. I have owned lots of Schons. Mostly old ones. I like the hit of the Mezz cue I have now better.

If you are looking at holding value the Schon R series will hold up better than any new currently available production cue no matter who makes it. No matter what the production cue it is hard to get much over wholesale for it used anyway. If that.

the value thing really depends on where you're looking to sell it.

you should have held onto that EC-n you had a while back.

so far i'm a fan of the WD700 but i'd like it more if it was 12.8+ and i dug PUJ shaft but i'd have liked it more if it was stiffer.

i owned a schon for about a week and i didn't care for the ss joint or the balance point. the tip that came on it was too hard but that's a cheap fix i just didn't have it long enough to change it. there seem to be shots that i can't shoot with schons. maybe it's the taper or maybe it's the ss joint but i just don't dig 'em. it's probably the taper though because i tried cyrex's murrell with a ss joint and it was WAY better!

i'd consider getting one and maybe having the ss joint replaced with something sleeved or maybe a LD shaft or something.

have you noticed flaws in their workmanship lately?
 
tough comparison due to the fact that the mezz is more about the low deflection technology in the shafts.

This is a rather shockingly bold statement considering that Mezz is renown for their impeccable workmanship. Are you referring to a problem with one of your Mezz cues, or numerous problems you've seen in other players Mezz cues? Personally, I've never even heard of a Mezz defect.

All companies make mistakes, there is no avoiding that. I'm not doubting your statement, but am however curious as to what made you arrive at this conclusion. :)
 
I'm a Mezz'ed up person, hence I like Mezz. ;)

The best production cue out there hands down.

Mezz - "Something that is loved, something that is treasured".
 
Mezz cues do play very nice however IMHO I dont think they play that good without a predator shaft, if your not wanting to spring for the additional shaft I would definately buy a schon, the first 1 I bought, sold, bought back, then eventually sold again when I stopped playing for awhile, as soon as I came back to playing though I bought another one, then tradded it for my nova which may as well be a schon, less the ting when it hits the cue ball.
 
Mezz are undeniably the best production cue ever, in my opinion. I'm not going to knock Schon. They are good cues. But they are not nearly at the level of Mezz.
 
Been playing with a Mezz for 2 years with hybrid pro 2 shaft and kamui soft tips. Really like the stiff hit of these shafts. As far as quality goes I would put my Mezz up against any production cue and some customs. That being said, both are nice cues and if i didn't shoot with a Mezz it would probably be a schon. As far as resale value, have to give the nod to schon until Mezz becomes a little more well known in USA. This may be a plus if your buying though, you can get more for your dollar ;) .

I like Schon cues, they are well built. I haven't played with a Mezz. IMO for the money you may spend on one of either you could get a nice custom. That would be my suggestion to you.

Well I owned several cues, brand names, including some custom made ones.

I just been marketing victim for most of them, they just dont play as described.

Mezz was the only one that was OK.

I heard good feedback for Schon and I would like to buy a cue soon so before I spend money for fancy Mezz I was thinking to try Schon.

The only think I dont like with Mezz is 12.75mm tip, I need at least 13mm to play my best.
 
Schon with a predator shaft. Its the triple nuts. Think Johnny archer used one for years.
And Van boening too.
