Most wingshots made in a row???

What's the most wingshots you've made in a row? Then, what's the most you've ever seen made in a row?

It just blows my mind to see more than 10 of them in a row made. You wouldn't think that a person that could do that would EVER miss a stationary object ball!!!

P.S. My high is two.

Well check out my signature video link to see mine. They aren't all wing shots if any because I didn't know you had to go around something. But thanks for bringing it up as I will make a new video.
 
Nice shooting luxury.

It's one of those things that's amazing to see, but if you sit down and actually try it... you might surprise yourself. The brain knows what a "made ball" looks like, you just gotta let it do its thing.

For anyone going for the record, the standard artistic shot requires that you shoot the ball around an obstacle on the spot. Earl could probably set a record if he wanted to.

Earl hit 28 in a row this is the best I know of. Earl has probably made more.

I have seen Tom Rossman shoot 27, and miss his 28th hanging it so close that a bump on the table would make it fall. Tom is really gifted in this shot right after that he shot a ton in a row again. Ever really want to see something cool ask him to show you every wing shot he knows. Amazing is all one can say.

Legend has it that the Fat man was one of the greatest at this shot "Wing Shots". I have a video of him making about twenty in a row. He is talking the whole time. It is really something he hits every ball about 25 mph. He never misses just keeps talking, and puts his cue away.
 
When I first decided to learn to get good at pool I do what I always do. I study the subject at length. So I went to the library and reserved and read every book on pool they had and watched every video they had. The Minnesota Fats video is what inspired me to shoot wing shots. At the end of the video he grabbed all the balls and shot every one wing shot style and then the final ball he rolled down the table and called three rails and made it narrowly escaping the kiss on the cue ball.

I have used the shot on the practice table before I'm up to play league to intimidate my opponent. That is what I use it for. Oh yeah, that and trying to get lucky.

A bit off topic, but someone told me that in 3C, you can shoot while the other balls are still in motion. True?

I'd believe this -- wing shots were a favorite of Fatty. However, legend even has it that the great Ralph Greenleaf -- who not only inspired the wing shot we see today, but took it to the next level -- commonly wowed the crowd with "combination wing shots" or "wing shot combinations" (depending on which terminology you prefer). Basically, roll *two* balls down table, and shoot the cue ball to combinate one rolling ball into the second rolling ball, to pocket that second rolling ball. Tom Rossman gives credit to Ralph whenever he attempts one of these "combination wing shots" during an artistic pool tournament/convention. (And I recall watching him attempt -- and make -- one during an ESPN Classic rerun of an artistic pool tournament a couple years ago.)

Earl and I have been friends for years. I was once waiting for him to finish up an exhibition at a BCA trade show before we went to lunch. He started shooting wing shots and knocked off about 10 straight. The next one looked like he hit a little short and it went 3 rails in the corner. Earl looked at me smiling and said "You thought I lucked that one 3 rails?" He then made 5 more 3 rail wing shots in a row, just to show me he did it on purpose! I've seen Earl do some amazing sh*t!

I saw Earl make 5 in a row and then the 6th he did behind his back-nailed it.
 
Earl was making wing shots between BCA challenge matches Sunday don't know how many he made, but I didn't see him miss one.

He also shot several spin shots 4 or more rails with the balls nearly straight in.

He said he learned them from somebody (wouldn't say who) at a tournament learned the "secret" (doesn't say what's the secret) and shoots them ever since.

I'm surprised he doesn't enter the trick shot competitions.

People talk about Earl, but there had to be more spectators while he was doing 8 ball challenge matches and for his 10 ball match then for anyone else.

He acted like a professional hall of fame player the whole time even though he had cause to "go off" a couple of times.
 
Wing shots, as they are required to be done in Artistic Competition, must be rolled to the opposite side of the foot spot from the corner pocket where they are to be potted.

So there is no doubt, I usually place a cube of chalk on the foot spot then let the fun begin.

I've made 8 in a row. It truly is amazing that some like Dr. Cue & Earl can get well up into the twenties.
