I use three aiming "tools" on a regular basis.
1. Pro One for cuts and banks,
2. Contact Point for combinations and caroms and
3. A little thing I wrote up years ago in conjunction with both. Nothing new here. I think everyone uses this to a certain extent, but since I've had a few requests to email this to people, I figured I'd put it on my website so anyone could download and read it if they wish. The link for it is

No one uses Extended Diamonds?
Tangent line, ghost ball, ghost pocket, contact point , shaft angle and tip placement.
Little Joe show this in his DVD on Kicking, I learn about EXTENDED Diamonds years ago. Like in High School Math were a LINE NEVER ENDS!
I use only one. The motto is, keep it simple!
I aim at (or probably more accurately am looking at) the contact point. Any adjustments for spin/throw/deflection etc or to actually put the CB in the position of the ghost ball, I suppose are done by feel.
Subconsciously I may use an aiming system but I was not taught and did not learn any aiming system as I learned to shoot. Some people told me about shooting at the light on the cue ball but I never paid any attention to that. I just rely on my instincts on where to hit the ball and how to hit it. KISS,in other words. I prefer not to overthink shots.

- DAM (combo of ghost-ball, contact point, and "seeing the angle") for most shots.
- double the distance for large cuts (thin hits) when the CB and OB are very close
- through-diamond method for rolling kicks and banks
- contact-point mirror for shallow-angle kicks with OB close to the rail.
- 30-degree rule for rolling billiards, caroms, tickies, safeties, etc.
- BHE/FHE for shots with English.
- trisect system for draw shots.
- Coriolis aiming method for masse shots.
- Plus System for two-rail kicks.
- Corner-5 System for two-, three-, and four-rail kicks.
- twice-as-full and ten-times-as-full systems for frozen billiards and caroms.
- etc!!!

The specialty systems (e.g., Corner-5, Plus System, contact-point mirror, trisect, etc.) take a little more time to aim, but not more than a few seconds. They take long in the videos because we are demonstrating and explaining them in detail. But they don't take that long once you know them. Regardless, the specialty systems aren't needed that often.
