All Ideas Welcome

Thank you for your response catscradle and superstar and everyone is entitled to there opinion what we are trying to do is find a way to make our sport more popular.By negativity we are only hurting the sport. Thanks again

All Ideas Welcome

How exactly are we going to make the sport more popular if we are cutting out the negativity? And on another note, who determines what is negative and what is just criticism?
Is this a universal standard, or is it dependent on each individual stream?

Does censorship = helping the sport? No.
Not if it's ignoring the opinions of pool players from all over who are the customer base.

If people didn't want to hear the comments about red cloth, then they shouldn't have gone with red.

I like to wish Everyone a safe memorial day and enjoy the BBQ God Bless America and the Red White an Blue.

As an old school player I have played on just about every color cloth made from black, red, brown, florescent pink, blue, green, and now tournament blue. I prefer the new tournament blue because my eyes aren't as good as when I was younger as I see the sharp angles a little better. As far as watching, my love for the game is what I watch, not the color of cloth the players are playing on.

Just a comment I heard on the DIY channels I watch says, that green colors are relaxing while reds are more irritable after time. So as far as Hollywood Billiards is concerned they might watch the patrons to see if their is more controversy from the players and customer in the future. I surely hope not.

I think what hurts our sport (or at least doesn't help it) is when the guy who picks the cloth color is an interior decorator instead of a pool player. Anyone who's actually hit a ball can tell you it's an awful color to play on.

Al, are you at the tourny? What are the players response to this? Has the Hollywood staff caught any greef over it yet?

I guess I can tolerate the cloth if I have to, but the chalk is horrible. Last week I let a guy (at a red cloth bar) borrow my bar cue. I had green chalk out bc I refuse to use the red. I didn't notice he had used the red until I pulled my cues out last week to clean and burnish. The red stain left from just a few games and being in my case was unbelievable.

Well, I couldn't have been more saddened to hear that our sport has been ruined. You could have knocked me over with a feather. Hell, I didn't even know it was a sport. All this time I thought it was a game. Now I am depressed.
And here we were, millions of us boppin' along, happy as a clam, when all of a sudden some wise ass goes and covers a table with the wrong color cloth and now me, and millions like me, gotta quit playing One Pocket. Mondays will just never be the same.

I think all you have to do is look at the 59 players that showed up compared to the 128 that were thought to be coming. A lot of players canceled because of the red cloth and chalk. There really isn't a lot of big name players in it either. No one is bashing the Seminole Tribe at all. They are great for pool. The bashing is on HB that changed cloth to red and made the players use red chalk. Put that with 4" pockets and that's why a lot of players and fans are up in arms. Johnnyt

Hello Everyone i think this issue has to be spoken about there has been alot of negative post on the color of cloth at HollyWood Billiards i believe it's negativity like this That is hurting our sport When Pat an Jim at accu-stats were having problems with there stream alot of us stood our ground and stayed while jim was working issues out and i was glad to be part of the group. But because of some bad blood between some folks I have seen a decline on certain shows. This could be the path to doom or we can group together and turn a Negative into a positive.I think helping one another is 1 way.

All Ideas Welcomed

Al, While I don't like negativity in general, I think if something bothers someone they absolutely should say so. Otherwise how are the owners going to know that the players don't like it if they don't?

I would hate to have to pay to play on red cloth when other options are available. I can't agree with you that people shouldn't say anything unless it's good. That's like saying we all should be "yes men and women".

Like the old saying "You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear." People can say that red cloth is the best thing in the world, but in reality the majority of players seems to like blues and greens better than red.

I don't think the industry is hurt one bit by people expressing their opinions in what's right and wrong with pool. Now with that said, there's no need for name calling and insults.

Those in business make choices they feel are best for their business. As pool players we have to live with it or go somewhere else.

So let's hear it for "Free Speech" in America while it lasts and thank all those who are serving or who have served our country.

People may be 50-60-70,ECT years old & still wont grow up, I guess every president that repaints & re decorates the white house is ruining the country & bashing our way of well being. The comments on the red cloth being described as bashing the sport is very very petty at best, sounds like the little ole man that sits at his window peeping thru the blinds waiting for a whiffle ball from the kids next door to come over the fence then calling the cops saying the brats are ruining your lawn which is mostly dirt to begin with,.Grow the f**k up dude, put down the milk & cookies & turn off the police scanner cause you always wanted to be a policeman & let perfectly legit comments be discussed by players whose opinions not only count but may HELP!! . This bothers me to no end, just like you deleting a post in chat for using caps after someone asks a simple question that a mod could answer 4 or 5 times to no avail then uses caps to get a mods attention & as soon as its posted ,its deleted with a rude comment, quote "caps show you think your more important then everyone else"unquote, what a bunch of BS, Now that i vented,GIVE ME THE HAMMER

Give people one chance, and if they can't lose the caps, ban them for life!

What the hell is it with caps anyways? It does nothing to my junk when I type in caps, so why do people use them?

If I had my way, I would break the Cap Lock and the Shift buttons on every keyboard in the world. Anyone willing to help?:D

Hey thank you all for the input.I was just trying to figure out a way we can improve our sport just wishing we can support each other thanks again.

All Ideas Welcome

Hi Johnny any Ideas on how to improve the sport all ideas welcome thanks for your input

RED, ouch

I played in a Vegas 8 ball League for a few years, and one of the rooms we had to play in > had "RED cloth" and a "BLACK" light over the table. REALLY!!! It was almost impossible to hit the 3 ball from the other end of the table. We chose the stripes whenever possible.
I understand why some rooms put in Red or other wild colors...to get the average pool playing people talking about the "WOW" in the room.

If someone doesn't like the comments about the red cloth, and feels that they should remove each and every comment that is about red cloth from the chat, why bother with chat to begin with?
You always have to take the good with the bad.
But it's 2 completely different things, to remove insults about red cloth, while also removing questions and comments about red cloth.

If that's the case, and there is to be nothing about red cloth in the chat, just get rid of chat and that's the end of the problem.

But expecting everyone to be all smiles singing kumbaya together in chat cause the stream is so wonderful? That's just unrealistic.
PLUS, this is ONE STREAM. It's not like people are complaining of red cloth EVERY stream/venue.
Every comment mentioning red cloth was deleted? Not only is that censorship overkill but its just stupid. Its ridiculously laughable. What possible reasoning was there for that? I'll add censorship to the list of reasons I don't watch certain streamers.

am I the only one who is sick and tired of hearing the phrase "This is what ruins the sport of pool" or "This is why pool will never be popular".
No sir you are not the only one. This has been a sticking point with me for a few years now. I usually just shake my head at the absurdity instead of saying anything. I've got to admit that some of the reasons people use that for, like people not being happy with red cloth (for example) are quite comical.
