Need suggestions for eye dominance

I just found out in the last week or so that I'm not right eye dominant. I'm right handed and all along I thought I was right eye dominant. It turns out that I'm left eye dominant.
I've talked to a couple knowledgeable people about it, but I was hoping some others that are opposite eye dominant would give some suggestions as to what they've done.
Such as foot or head placement or anything else.
 
 
here's the best suggestion...quit worrying about eye dominance. line up your cue where you 'see' a straight line, then use the straight stroke that you're supposed to have...if you practiced what i showed you.

Eye dominace does not have a lot to do with pool shooting. Point your stick and go....SPF=randyg
 
My stroke is straight, I noticed that I'm not always lining up the same.

I'm left eye dominant / right handed. I love it because my left eye is the one closest to my bridge hand. In pool I consider it an advantage.......but that's just me.

Hi there,

For the most part you were probably naturally using your left eye as the dominant eye all along. Especially on your straight in shots. it's on the angle shots that we get the eyes in the wrong position.

So far for you not know would not cause you any problems. Many players play all their lifes and it makes no difference. It's once a person finds out which eye is dominant that they can now improve their aim with the knowledge of knowing where the eyes need to be. And knowing is huge

There are 4 different eye placements. Straight in shots,thin cuts,angle cuts and aiming at a spot. The eye placements are different on each of these shots.

Then on top of this they are all different depending on whether you are cutting to the right or the left. Depending on which eye is dominant and the degree of the dominance.

The players that are strong eye dominant and the players that are just slightly dominant are the players that seem to play naturally better with less effort than the players inbetween. fortuanately most of us fall into this inbetween group.

If you want you can give me a call and I will get you pointed in the right direction as far as trying to improve you aim now that you know you are left eye dominant.

It really makes no difference which eye is dominant but it does make a difference on how you position the eyes.

The biggest problem that pool players have is keeping their eyes in the proper position to keep their dominant eye doing what it needs to do all the time. If they sway at all towards making the non-dominant eye dominant the shot will start to look bad and the right info is not being given to the brain.

I'm right handed and left eye dominant. Look to the left at my picture and you can clearly see I shoot somewhat sidearm to get my left eye over the shaft. Been doing it this way for 50 years.
 
I appreciate all the input. I just went and hit some balls to check what I was doing and I just started doing what I've been doing all along before I started trying to adjust for my left being slightly more dominant. I beleive that I was using my left eye more so all along and didn't know it. Because when I just started doing what I normally did, I dropped quite afew without missing. I might have been reading into the dominance to much in the last week and trying to correct something that didn't need correcting. Either way eveybody suggestions helped me get back in the right mindset.

The easiest way I've found to solve the right-handed, left eye dominant problem is to have the left eye surgically removed. It worked for me. Just make sure you keep a clean dressing over the wound sight because poolroom owners really get mad when you drip blood and puss all over the pool table. See ya. :D

I'm right handed and left eye dominant.

A zillion years ago in Billiard Digest magazine there was an article on cross dominance, and as was mentioned by a poster here, the writer of the article also considered it an advantage since the dominant eye leads slightly.

I remember that article because it related to my own eye dominance.

Tramp, didn't know about your dominant eye problem so I'm sorry if this is a little late, but wouldn't an eye patch have accomplished the same thing? :o
