OK, I'm super excited. I just scheduled four pool lessons with Mike Sigel. 2 this month 2 next. I am thrilled that I can do this. I don't expect to become a pro, but I know he will help me improve my game.
I Can't wait!!!:):D

Hopefully there's enough space in the room for all 3 of you. You, Mike and his ego.
MULLY
J/K, I'd love an opportunity like that

Mike is a Hall-of-famer, so.... I'll just ask if you have done any research on lessons??? And, is he still trying to charge $500 an hour??

You mean THE MIKE SIGEL!!! Hall Of Famer, Multiple U.S. Open and World Champion, "Captain Hook", Mike "The Mouth", The greatest pool player who ever lived, The best cue maker too, and defeater of Hall Of Famer Loree Jon Jones! That Mike Sigel? Wowie Kazooie!

I'm sure he'll tell you all this himself, and often! At least once per lesson, it is an absolute that he reminds you how great he was and is. How else will you know that you are in the presence of greatness.

J/K, I'm sure you'll learn something between self aggrandizing speeches.

Maybe you can get the lesson video taped? It will likely be memorable.

Hopefully, you will receive many great tips to help your game.

Have fun.

Please post about your lesson experience after it takes place.

Has any one here ever taken lessons from Mike? Wondering what kind of teacher he is.
I'm a drummer who has studied with some of the greatest drummers on the planet. Most were horrible teachers. Wonder if it's the same way with pool.

The reviews have been mixed but they've only been based on group lessons, I haven't seen anyone post about one on one lessons.

There was a small group of 4 or 5 people (if I remember correctly) that one of the guys had nothing but positive things to say about it. I believe it was az member "Icon of Sin".

There was another post from someone that had talked to some folks that were in a much larger class that didn't have a positive review. They said that Mike spent most of his time talking about himself and how great he was. I recall the story including a female that Mike insisted on called "honey" (or something to that effect) intead of her name and basically treated her like she didn't matter because she was a girl.

This isn't verbatim but it is the gist of the reviews that I have seen.

I wonder if he's going to try to sell you a cue?
MULLY

My money would be on 'yes'. But, in all fairness, that would be understandable since he makes and sells cues. The real bet would be on if he tells his student that he makes the only 'real' cues made. All the rest are just pretenders.

Lessons

I think you should ask Mike if he knows a guy named Efrem, I hear Mike got some lessons from him once.

"Mr Second Place" and "The Bridesmaid"

Well yeah, but for years Efren was known as Mr Second Place or The Bridesmaid, largely because of Mike Sigel. Regardless of what the rest of us think about Mike's personality he is hugely respected by Efren.

I don't have nearly the experience you all have but my single interaction with Mike was very positive.

I can tell you that I think his rates are resonable. I have spoke with Mike 3 times now and he seems very polite and confident that he can help me with my game. And I like to hear pool stories, so to hear them from a great player will be cool.

I will let everyone know how it goes. 1st lesson is on the 21st of June.:)

I have met Mike on many occasions. He is a really nice guy. Believe it on not, off the pool table, he is super fun guy to be around and is very funny. One year, I helped him out with his booth in Vegas. He was very appreciative and generous too. PS. Renee if you see this, how have you been?

Have fun. I don't know what your skill level is but hopefully you can play pretty good. That way, you can concentrate on strategy more than mechanics. Getting the opportunity to pick the mind of someone like Sigel can make you look at the game so much differently. I had a chance to work with Grady about 10 years ago. In a few hours, he taught me so much about one pocket, not executing the shots, but thinking my way around the table. I would say that after a couple hours, I was 2 balls smarter. I'd love to get inside Incardona's noggin' too. I hope you enjoy this opportunity. Good luck

I have only really talked to Mr Sigel once, that was when he beat me in the IPT. I expected him to run his mouth and tell me I was never gonna be half as good as him etc etc....

On the contrary he was very nice and provided some nice words and encouragement. So everyone that has something bad to say about him, I have not seen an unlikable side to him at all. On the other hand I have seen a very unlikable side to Earl and you guys on here worship him. So what do I know....... Although Earl is fun on the golf course
