gotta agree

I think things are right about even now. Scott walked away with more than $30K even after the "repo" of the Tahoe. Not a bad score at the end of the day.

I've been keeping up with the entertainment until it has went away but from where I am sitting only Dave lost anything. Others didn't get as much as they had hoped but that's pretty typical gambling. First you have to win then if the stakes aren't on the spot you have to collect. I "lost" $80,000 it took me about thirty minutes to win back in the eighties. I was playing on a signed sales agreement for a piece of commercial property I owned and the other player was admittedly on air too but regularly did a large deal every six months. I had seen his kitchen table under the biggest pile of money I have ever seen in my life four months before, only maybe excepting the million I saw in a casino under glass, so I figured if I happened around his place at the right time I would collect if I won. Someone I knew lived a few doors down and I stayed there pretty often myself so I had a string on him. Unfortunately the Fed's seemed to have a string on him too and they pulled theirs first!

I could have went on tilt about the $80K I lost but in truth I didn't lose a thing. I didn't gain anything either but no big deal. A SOB managed to air barrel me for $15,000 on the sale of another piece of commercial property and that was money out of my pocket so I was an unhappy camper. I wanted the money to put with other money I had to reinvest but it took six months of collecting a nickel and dime at a time to get it and the $15,000 was spent as I got it just to live. Eventually I had to say the guy pulled a move and I got an education. Life goes on.

Nope. I don't bet on gaffe games one way or the other.

I am unbiased actually. You see Dippy I may be the only dude who didn't try to jump on the Dippy train here in Vegas the last couple months because I just wasn't that interested in your show. I watched you play Shane one time at Sharks for about an hour and saw all I needed to. It is some amusing sh!t though I will admit.

Haha..... I think it is hilarious that these "DIP"SHITS get so much rep and respect these days in the pool world for being "go-offs artists"......

LOL Roy Steffensen with I think my first negitive rep on this forum...or thread IDK. As if this thread could be used to gauge the value of reputation for knowledge on a billiard forum. What an enormous misuse of purpose. As if we all were to go around negitive reping opinions. This garbage doesn't even happen in the NPR.

Roy is a good poster, you aren't. No sense him being the only one. Have another red, you have earned it.

That's right, only one loser in this spot, Dippy Dave!

I agree. Bishop, it's one thing to respectfully state that you disagree with the premise of this thread, but it's another thing entirely to post countless times with redundant complaining and shit talk. It's borderline ignorant.

I won't red rep you (yet), but I certainly contemplated it several times yesterday.

Well, just got back from taking my boys to 7-11 for a free Slurpee (I got one too!) and see my math skills are being challenged:eek:

I knew I got those numbers from somewhere. (OK, I know that doesn't excuse me not figuring out that 22+22+4 x 2 does NOT equal 100.:o. It's 97 right?:p

Back to the issue at hand. To me this has turned into a debate on the morals of disrespect in the form of cheating vs. the morals of stiffing. The gamblers here clearly think that stiffing is the more heinous crime and don't seem that bothered by a little cheating (or pulling moves if you prefer).

DD is using stiffing to teach a lesson about disrespect and cheating.

I think things are right about even now. Scott walked away with more than $30K even after the "repo" of the Tahoe. Not a bad score at the end of the day.

So Dave just gets a freeroll at 60K?

I will be happy to play Efren and everyone else on planet Earth with the same weight if I don't have to play when I lose.

I don't understand this logic at all.

I do a month's work for you and if you pay me 2/3rds of the agreed on price I should be happy with it?

For the record this kind of stiffing happens in the real world ALL THE TIME on real deals.

good luck everyone,

im done with kangaroo court, id offer to gamble with people but im afraid of being robbed.

you know what the sad part is, you guys totally ruin your own sport, you guys condone violence in poolrooms for what ever means.

personally after what has transpired if i was a poolroom owner i would never alow scott in my room again.

and i would call the casino to get a coppy of the tape, but i have nothing to prove i know what happened. but please feel free, it was the day after we played around 230-330 pm. Ill bet 50k if someone gets a coppy of the tape you clearly see me paying scott.

I have read every thread in this forum. I really don't care who is telling the truth as I don't personally know anyone one here.

I am more than willing to get in the box with Dippy if he wants to bet. All money will be posted. Anybody who is willing to bet and lose $100K is alright in my book.

Dippy, pm me if you are interested.

Well, your "logic" doesn't take into account any of the shenanigans that took place, mine does.

Nor does it take into account that you probably can't afford to lose that first $100K to Efren.

Nor does it take into account that we're NOT talking about a normal business deal here. This was a gambling match-up that went awry.

Do I think what DD is doing is right? NO. Do I think that Scott and Co. are angels in this case? - Again, NO. They jumped on the rob Dippy party train and didn't get a ride all the way home.

There were plenty of mistakes on both sides here but in the end, one party ended up WAAAY down and the other way up. Now that someone has hired a goon to add violence to the situation, I think all parties would be better off just cooling off for a while. They've both made their positions clear and the whole world know about it. Any further escalation is likely to end badly.

MikeM i appreciate you being willing to say rational but unpopular things on this forum and face what comes with it.

Rob Dippy?

Sorry but this guy is supposed to be a high stakes poker player with some pool sense.

He made the games knowing full well who he was playing with.

The only person robbing anyone here is the person who is not paying their debt, David Peat.

What shenanigans?

Moisture on the balls? Opening the door? Seriously? If you are in the middle of the set and something is happening that you don't like then straighten it out.

I have stopped the set to clean the balls or get a new set. I have stopped the set to clean the tables. I have asked for the door to be closed/opened/fan turned on/air turned on-up-off-down etc.... when I didn't feel comfortable. I have played in people's pool rooms where I had zero control over the environment and I CHOSE to stay and play. Sometimes I booked a winner anyway and sometimes I couldn't overcome the discomfort. It's ridiculous to blame something like this after the fact.

Bartram calls the hit and says it's good - Dave disagrees with HIS FRIEND over it and Frost gives in and allows Dave to say it's bad - what's wrong with that?

As for spitting on the floor - I'd have told Frost to take a hike if he did that in my pool room.

The point of all this is that it's not all good. It's a situation where a guy with a little more money is strongarming guys who he thinks can't do anything about it.

Dave is not the victim here - whatever games he is getting into are games he is getting into of his own free will. It's not like the Phillipines where the "spotter" offers to go in with you if you play so and so to entice you to match up with someone you have zero chance to beat. Of course the spotter's bet is completely fake and you are the only one losing money.

You're right about cooling off though. I hope that this thread makes everyone involved think hard about their next moves because I would hate to see the end in tragedy.

And you're also right about the end of the day scenario which still has Team Scott ahead. Maybe Scott personally blew his share already which would be par for the course when it comes to pool players in Vegas. For some reason they forget that when it comes to EVERY other form of gambling they are the suckers at the table.

So I don't agree that Dave Peat is anywhere close to being in the right or vindicated. But maybe Team Scott should cut their losses and let it go before this escalates.

I swear though that I would sue Dave in court. Because even though it's his word against Scott's the burden of proof lies with the PAYOR not the PAYEE. If I hand someone a large chunk of money then I get a receipt for it. Especially for a "professional" poker player who supposedly is accounting for all these wins and losses so that the proper amount of taxes can be paid if he ends up with profit at the end of the year.

Anyway, I have inserted far too much commentary for the sparrow sized amount of action I could contribute to anyone. So I am completely out at this point and hoping that nothing happens that lands either party in prison at this point.

I love how Douchey Dave keeps trying to make sure there is a truce in the violence dept. so they don't have to watch their backs forever.

Did you think stiffing for that amount was going to leave you paranoid free? When you forgive any wrongdoings and decide to do the right thing and pay then you can relax and be Dippy again.

I really hope this all works out.

If it happened in the Philippines, someone would be MIA by now.

Not true....

Yiou are talking video, not stills.

You'd need a Spielburg-Lucas doing some serious computer generation to pull it off. Frame by frame kinda stuff. Photoshop couldn't begin to handle it.

I would think about approaching a security guard from the casino, and see if the tape could be obtained on the side for a generous 'tip'.

Seems that would offer the best chance....

I don't know if it would be THAT big budget that you would need Spielberg or George Lucas.

It could probably be done by Marc Ecko for a lot less money:

Do you think that this was our first option? I hope not, we would like to have more credit than that, as a matter of fact this was our last option, this didn't happen a few days ago it's been weeks since the initial dispute started. No gun jumping here. And furthermore this thread is about much more than trying to collect a debt, it has to do more with making sure you know who your gambling with and what coud happen if you don't. I think it would be safe to say that people are much more educated about gambling and procedures, and on how to handle certain situations now then they were before this thread started. And for those who feel that Dippie has been judged too badly, to you good luck, you're probably gonna need it.

I dont think too many people really thing that Dippie has been judged badly. If he stiffed you guys then you do what you do to get paid--because technically he ripped you off. I also think that the same goes when people dump matches or cut up the rail bettors. I hate to say it but I know you know it--you make everybody post. You know this more than anybody with all of your experience. They post it up or you dont bet--period--not to rub it in at all-so dont take it that way.

if i was paranoid do you think i would of ever went to the poolroom in the first place, you guys are all sticking up for professional liars and cheats.

Here is what i will do, billy you have 24 hours to take a lie detector test from someone the police use, the questions you have to answer no to corectly are

have you ever cheated someone gambling,

have you ever robbed or owed someone money and not pay

and things pertaining to that,

if you do i will give you 20k we can stream it.

I'll be a bit presumptuous here, since Billy isn't online now. Would you be willing to take the same test?

i am verry easy to find, i dont hide, so why dont you not hire someone and come do it your self. YOu love to talk alot of shit, you know nothing of what happened except what your friends tell you.

so what if you heard a conversation from me and billy, i have never told billy that i didnt pay scott, i have always told him that he was paid, and he isnt getting any thing from me, and hes screwwed on a truck my friend might of sold him.

YES i helped screw scott frost out of a truck,

you guys love to talk about karma, well maybe this is karma catching up too scott.

does anyone have any thing good to say for scott, you guys all say how honorable billy is, but thats not whos word you are taking here you are taking sdcotts

So now you admit to screwing scott on the truck deal but people are soposed to believe you about the 50K. What a dum dum.

Hire someone? I guarantee you one thing big mouth, if I had a problem with a punk like you, I would come find you myself. I have always handled my business on my own. And let's get one thing straight since you decided to play tough guy with me. If you ever see me anywhere, don't say one word to me! Now I'm done talking to you.

In the world of gambling, if you go and make a game with someone, and you somehow manage to GIVE THEM THE OPPORTUNITY to fire an air barrel by not STIFF PROOFING the bet, you have only yourself to blame if any complications arise.
This is no secret in the world of gambling.

Stiff proofing completely eliminates any chance of someone screwing over anyone else and fingers being pointed.

I don't really care who is guilty or not in this case, but none of this would have happened if the opportunity didn't become available.

I'm actually quite shocked that hard core veteran gamblers didn't stiff proof the bet to begin with.
Can't complain if you let the opportunity come about in the first place.
Far as i am concerned, if you didn't set it up to be ironclad, you deserve to get ripped off.
That is not meant to disrespect anyone, as i would say the exact same thing about myself, if i failed to take the appropriate measures to assure i didn't get ripped off, and then had to deal with complications as a result.

And that is not to say that someone did or didn't pay.
But if the money wasn't posted and divided up immediately afterward...

People know better.
