Sorry to disappoint - I spent the weekend rolling back and forth between a pool tourney in Olathe and a handball tourney there. Had a great time at both.
I tried to log in and read this thread to keep up over the weekend at night but yes, JAM and others can post away as much as they like in the thread, but it makes it impossible to keep up with what is really being said.
There are holes in both sides of the story, at least the ones that are posted here. I have my opinions of all the cast members involved, their history in this world, their character in this world and they differ from some of the responses we read and many accept here.
I'll give my opinion, somewhat, of the two main characters - leaving out the supporting cast.
Scott - never heard a story of him beating a woman. Not saying it isn't true but I never heard it. Just like I never heard a story about him walking on the moon. Viffer could post Scott did that also and it might be true as well. Personally, I generally like Scott, have hung out with him a bit and find him to be a fun guy. I had a blast with him during the stream of the DCC last year one early morning. We had each other rolling in laughter. I have done a few small favors for him and he was geniune in his spoken appreciation of such. And I would do so again. Scott is also a pool champion. I am not going to hang from his nuts but I can respect the work he has put in to become one. I remember when he was younger, going to Shooters in Olathe, him getting spotted from Whitey and Joe, and basically being laughed at while he was getting beat. He just stood there and took it.
Things Scott did wrong in this - if all the stories are true and I am understanding correctly -
#1 and foremost - not posting. Always post the money, I cannot comprehend a reason not to.
#2 Not letting the sucker be right. To a point, anyting that Viffer brought up, let him. As long as Viffer isn't point blank cheating.
#3 Not getting a title or receipt to the truck. In this country, especially after 9/11, you just can't go around making $10K transactions for property.
#4 Bringing Kimbo into the pool room. I'll repeat a quote I know - Revenge is a dish best served cold.
#5 Staying in Vega$ with all that money. Vega$ is not the place to be with your bankroll in your pocket - especially for a pool player. If Scott went off for the money like many are saying after making a lifetime score, that is really the travesty here.
Now on to Viffer, Dippy Dave, Neck Tattoo Dave or whatever other nickname he wants to give himself. I called Dave (not literally called him but judged him) as I saw him as soon as he started posting on this board. He is surrounded by himself and only himself and has trouble seeing himself for what he really is. Most people do but some more to extremes than others.
Honestly, I have heard stories of Dave from reliable sources and what he is really about but don't believe in posting such on a forum board. Even if Dave repeatedly keeps asking for people to post anything they know good or bad about him. Seems strange, I'll leave it at that.
When I saw Dippy in person, as a gambler, what he was saying to his opponent and the rail actually made sense. His method of saying it wasn't always the best creation, but it did have a strong basis. A friend of mine and I (to a smaller extent) beat him out of $20K and had no issues. But that is because my friend is well above having high character and I think Dippy knows this. Actually to clarify, what I saw of Dippy that night was not a gambler but a sucker. He was up for 3 days, couldnt run two balls and was still throwing money up in the air, like trying to throw jello to stick to a wall. He had no chance.
What Dippy did wrong -
#1 Not posting the money
#2 Matching up with a champion with bad odds on the money
#3 Not paying the $50K that was owed that night
#4 Not paying the $50k that is owed
#5 If he did pay Scott as is his story, then paying Scott only at the Valet of a casino is ludicrious. Dippy knew others were involved. I have paid off much smaller debts and always ensure that everyone is on the same page.
#6 Selling a car without a title or a receipt
#7 Having the mentality that two wrongs make a right. If you have character, like he keeps stating he has, then you always do what is right. No matter what. And you do it all the time. Move on and then try to fix what was wrong. And don't use what you think was wronged against you, AFTER you lose to justify your current actions. That is purely weak sauce.
Who do I believe - Lenny and Scott. I might want to believe Viffer's story could be true until he came with that he got beat down and bloodied by Kimbo Slice. When a reputatable poster states otherwise and that Viffer went untouched, any ounce of credibility that Viffer could have went out the window. If the rest of your story is true, then no need to lie to make it seem even more extreme. Problem is, for people that lie, they get to the point that they don't even reallize they are doing it. It just comes natural. And they themselves can't even figure out what is the truth or a lie anymore or recall what really happened.
Finally - I am certainly not a pool champion but a champion when it comes to character. Since Dippy likes to play champions and has offered a $50K bet to Scott for a character contest - I would love to stand in Scott's place. Of course, the money would have to be posted.
