The way it really went down

Sorry to disappoint - I spent the weekend rolling back and forth between a pool tourney in Olathe and a handball tourney there. Had a great time at both.

I tried to log in and read this thread to keep up over the weekend at night but yes, JAM and others can post away as much as they like in the thread, but it makes it impossible to keep up with what is really being said.

There are holes in both sides of the story, at least the ones that are posted here. I have my opinions of all the cast members involved, their history in this world, their character in this world and they differ from some of the responses we read and many accept here.

I'll give my opinion, somewhat, of the two main characters - leaving out the supporting cast.

Scott - never heard a story of him beating a woman. Not saying it isn't true but I never heard it. Just like I never heard a story about him walking on the moon. Viffer could post Scott did that also and it might be true as well. Personally, I generally like Scott, have hung out with him a bit and find him to be a fun guy. I had a blast with him during the stream of the DCC last year one early morning. We had each other rolling in laughter. I have done a few small favors for him and he was geniune in his spoken appreciation of such. And I would do so again. Scott is also a pool champion. I am not going to hang from his nuts but I can respect the work he has put in to become one. I remember when he was younger, going to Shooters in Olathe, him getting spotted from Whitey and Joe, and basically being laughed at while he was getting beat. He just stood there and took it.

Things Scott did wrong in this - if all the stories are true and I am understanding correctly -
#1 and foremost - not posting. Always post the money, I cannot comprehend a reason not to.

#2 Not letting the sucker be right. To a point, anyting that Viffer brought up, let him. As long as Viffer isn't point blank cheating.

#3 Not getting a title or receipt to the truck. In this country, especially after 9/11, you just can't go around making $10K transactions for property.

#4 Bringing Kimbo into the pool room. I'll repeat a quote I know - Revenge is a dish best served cold.

#5 Staying in Vega$ with all that money. Vega$ is not the place to be with your bankroll in your pocket - especially for a pool player. If Scott went off for the money like many are saying after making a lifetime score, that is really the travesty here.

Now on to Viffer, Dippy Dave, Neck Tattoo Dave or whatever other nickname he wants to give himself. I called Dave (not literally called him but judged him) as I saw him as soon as he started posting on this board. He is surrounded by himself and only himself and has trouble seeing himself for what he really is. Most people do but some more to extremes than others.

Honestly, I have heard stories of Dave from reliable sources and what he is really about but don't believe in posting such on a forum board. Even if Dave repeatedly keeps asking for people to post anything they know good or bad about him. Seems strange, I'll leave it at that.

When I saw Dippy in person, as a gambler, what he was saying to his opponent and the rail actually made sense. His method of saying it wasn't always the best creation, but it did have a strong basis. A friend of mine and I (to a smaller extent) beat him out of $20K and had no issues. But that is because my friend is well above having high character and I think Dippy knows this. Actually to clarify, what I saw of Dippy that night was not a gambler but a sucker. He was up for 3 days, couldnt run two balls and was still throwing money up in the air, like trying to throw jello to stick to a wall. He had no chance.

What Dippy did wrong -

#1 Not posting the money

#2 Matching up with a champion with bad odds on the money

#3 Not paying the $50K that was owed that night

#4 Not paying the $50k that is owed

#5 If he did pay Scott as is his story, then paying Scott only at the Valet of a casino is ludicrious. Dippy knew others were involved. I have paid off much smaller debts and always ensure that everyone is on the same page.

#6 Selling a car without a title or a receipt

#7 Having the mentality that two wrongs make a right. If you have character, like he keeps stating he has, then you always do what is right. No matter what. And you do it all the time. Move on and then try to fix what was wrong. And don't use what you think was wronged against you, AFTER you lose to justify your current actions. That is purely weak sauce.

Who do I believe - Lenny and Scott. I might want to believe Viffer's story could be true until he came with that he got beat down and bloodied by Kimbo Slice. When a reputatable poster states otherwise and that Viffer went untouched, any ounce of credibility that Viffer could have went out the window. If the rest of your story is true, then no need to lie to make it seem even more extreme. Problem is, for people that lie, they get to the point that they don't even reallize they are doing it. It just comes natural. And they themselves can't even figure out what is the truth or a lie anymore or recall what really happened.

Finally - I am certainly not a pool champion but a champion when it comes to character. Since Dippy likes to play champions and has offered a $50K bet to Scott for a character contest - I would love to stand in Scott's place. Of course, the money would have to be posted.

Well Dagwood. I had a long chat with Mark Griffin regarding this (state of pool industry) a couple weeks ago. He's someone who has to face the hell of pool's bad reputation every singlel day in the business world. He's probably the premier business person in the industry. You and Chicken and all the other people who think they know what's what will have to put him in left field too. Maybe you're just in the wrong ballpark. This is the adult ballpark.

I never said anything about the state of the industry. Read over what I said once more. I was talking about you and Bishop and your never ending quests to start flames and tie what is going on in this thread to the incredibly poor state of affairs that the pool and billiard industry perpetually finds itself in. As far as Mr. Griffin goes, he is more than capable of speaking for himself. I'm sure that he and I would see eye to eye on some things, and not on others. That's what having an opinion is all about. However, I wouldn't condemn those have a differing way of thinking. That is, until they became obtuse, stubborn, and narrow minded. That's a bad combination, and leads to negative progress.

Another thing about this whole fiasco (and that's what it is, a bonafide FIASCO): if you fail to see the rediculosity, (yeah I made that up, screw it) of this entire situation, then you are making a mountain out of a mole hill. As far as I'm concerned, for me and everyone else who is NOT involved directly with this, this is a story to discuss, laugh at, maybe learn something from. However you and Bishop are using it to launch attacks on the character of some of the Pool and Billiard community's most influential people. Instead of tackling someone's opinion and wrestling with that for a bit, you decide to attack his character and person. There's nothing more childish than that. It's like a kid who is told that he's wrong by another, and he punches him...because they don't know how to discuss something in a rational manner.

Learn to converse a topic that doesnt agree with what you believe before throwing out insults.

Kevin Trudeau and the IPT stiffed 150-200 players out of $3,000,000+ (doing it in front of a TV audience) and got less attention than this incident. Granted there was far less "drama-action" in the IPT story... perhaps it was too high-brow?

I dont know man. I remember some humdinger IPT threads.

That shit had detective work going on. People doing internet and document searches trying to find out where to get their damn money. The KT Faithful defending him till the bitter end..... definitely a golden era for runaway threads.

Damn I miss the good old days when there was something actually worth getting pissed off about in pool.

And I can only imagine what it would have been like if AZB Forum had been arouund during the Camel Tour days and it's bitter end...thank you Don Mackey. Would have been right up there with the IPT stuff Justin...

Yeah and as sleazy as Trudeau is/was, even he did pay up eventually! I guess that puts Dippy's character somewhere below Trudeau's.

I don't have a lot of time right now, but if nobody is gonna step up... I gotta throw something in.

Moral to the story; it's ok when a corporate entity screws you, that's what they do, but like hell will a poolroom "hustle" not get paid! :D

By the way, legally speaking, I think that Dave may have some action vs. Scott, the thug, and perhaps others (conspiracy) with regard to the assault & battery - with witnesses and all, but Scott has zero (the gambling debt and the SUV) IMO.

Actually posting those stats has nothing at all to do with you.

After the Slurpee post I just started skipping over everything you put up in this thread anyway, so it makes no earthly difference at all to me what or how much you post because I don't look at them. Do what makes you happy.

The reason for posting the stats is that wild fire threads like this fascinate me. By looking at this list I see a couple of traditional AZ All-Stars are lacking in there at bats. We have seen a couple new faces step up and take some swings. On the way to 40,000 views and 900 posts with what looks to me to be under a 100 actual posters.

Pretty interesting stuff. At least to me but then I am a dork.

To tell you the truth, your posts on this thread are the best you've ever made - great stuff. I wish we could get down to the bottom of this.

I've tried making suggestions to both sides to settle it, but if Dave says he's paid up and the other side doesn't agree, we are at an impasse.

Billy -- WHERE ARE YOU, BILLY? -- who actualy initiated this thread, posted that he liked my posts and to keep posting, which I did.

The forum is supposed to be fun. :)

BTW, you didn't have too much trouble keeping up, Wathez, by the length of your post. I guess it's easier to save it and then let it all out in one long one. :wave2:

JAM, everyone is entitled to post. We get it, no need to defend yourself.

Well, for guys, this ends up causing all kinds of problems like prostate cancer...

Oh...

You were talking about posting in the forum......

Ooooops.

Can't help it, I'm deployed. lol

I thought I kilt it...then I saw JAM posted right before I did. 5 minutes is a long time without a response on this thread. lol

Tis time to break out the handbook...Justin has officially declared it Epic. Just for the nerd in Justin. (and all of us for that matter)

You know there is a screenplay in here somewhere.

"The Dippy Situation ".......Based on a True Thread

Robert Deniro as Billy Incardona

Collin Farrell as Scott Frost

Ben Stiller as Dippy Dave

Kimbo Slice as Lil' Kimbo the Samoan

And introducing Big Nasty as the 2004 Black Tahoe

I am pretty sure it would do Avatar numbers.

Oh, I'm sure I'm going to get slammed for posting this reply to you, but here I am. :)

Posting sure beats what I'm working on, electrophysiology, ventricular fibrillation, and the quivering heart.:boring2:

Meanwhile, the forum hasn't enjoyed this surge of members posting in masses since the U.S. Open and DCC.
