I mentioned to Danny, that anyone that Hanks chose to play him , couldn't live up to Danny's own over the top, great, and funny personality,,,,If Danny had any acting chops , he would have the lead..

Lastly, Danny WILL be seen in the movie in an unrelated part,, [ like a bartender]......

The rights to the movie are owned by Lions Gate. There has never been an actor attached to the project. Unless Playtone (Hanks' production company) bought the rights in turnaround, the project is essentially dead in the water. As for Playtone's current pictures in development, you can check the IMDB link below and you'll see that there is no mention of this project.

That's a tad harsh for a man who has beaten some world beaters like Efren, Johnny, Corey, and Earl.

Did you happen to see the video of him at the Glass City Open where he kept Corey in his chair for a very long time. The expression on Corey's face, after a while, was priceless as he just smiled and shook his head. Kinda looked like the faces of his competitors at the Atlantic City Skins match that JAM previously mentioned.

Danny, without a doubt, has had some big ups and downs but when his game was on he was tough to beat. During his big road trips he mixed it up with a virtual who's who of bad-asses, oftentimes coming out a winner.

Above all else, he is a really good guy. Over the top, occasionally crazy as a loon :grin: but always a good guy.

He was selling cars for a while, and did very well at it (no surprise) but then the car dealership closed down. He is still giving lessons although he may not be at the same small club where he had recently been affiliated. Danny's doing what he has to in order to provide for his family. Hustling dvd's, lessons, whatever.

He is a friend and we keep in touch on a regular basis. We may drive down to Chesapeake together this fall. While Danny may not go down as one of the all time greats in pool, I think he was pretty great for a while and his contribution to our game has certainly been a positiive one.

How could you not like the fat Jewish "Kid" with that raspy, heavily-Brooklyn-accented, voice and perpetual big grin on his face? :grin-square:

I always enjoyed watching Danny play, he had a high gear. My free advice to Danny would be to get a gym membership and use it, lose some weight, focus on his health.

He is young enough that if he could get his health together he could be one of the top American players.
 
one of the most charismatic and easy to like guys i have met in the pool world....always has time to chat it up whether your a player or a fan....i like the kid.
 
I seen him play a couple times and was disappointed.

It might be his health, or lack of playing but he sure didnt look "world class" to me.

I hope he is doing okay. Pool is a rough life without much rewards.

Oh,... I didn't say I didn't like him and he was a pretty good player at one time. But not a legend IMO
 
He didnt have a rasp in his voice til maybe 3 years ago. I dont think he ever smoked so i have no idea where that came from. I actually think it ruined his voice which until he got that rasp, was just classic. I hope he has had that rasp "looked" at.

He has always had the rasp, it just comes out at different times... Usually when he is amped up or talking loudly.

Danny had the greatest voice mail message ever.... "I'm away from my desk right now, but please leave a message and I will return your call as soon as possible. And oh yeah. I'M ON THE MOVE!!!". LOL

And for anyone that sees him tell him I said phone phobia is a very serious disease, but there is a cure..... LOL

I know him since he was 17-18 playing at Chicago Billiards and never noticed it until 3 years ago.
 
I met Danny at D&D family billiards in downingtown PA about 6 months ago. He was playing our local hero, and the cool thing was he was dispensing really good tidbits of racking and matching up info as they were playing.

I bought his DVD's and sat and chatted with him for a while. He was a good dude to hang with. I have heard all kinds of stories....good and bad about the kid over the years, and I will say this......we all have our bad days....I'm not going to judge anyone by he said she said junk...

I saw the kid At SBE this year , He was doing very good . He told me he was looking to open a room If the movie about him comes and does well .
I know Danny for a long time , and i do hope he's gets his movie out and his room open he's a great guy and has great road stories..

Tap tap tap...lol, I remember him from Sacramento when he was skinny. He's a good kid...don't know why many others try to knock him. I hope he is doing well..
