Should Cue Chalk Be Frozen?

We're not talking duracell batteries here. Chalk to some extent is porous like a sponge. To get excess humidity out of a chalk, stick it in the oven for 15 minutes.

Yes. Then it should be run through a dryer on the "permanent press" setting with a bit of baking soda added. Afterwards marinate it in a seasoning of parsley, salt, elmer's glue. Then fry it for 10 minutes on medium heat in a non-stick pan, immediately freeze it again, then buy airline tickets to Sicily.

it depends on if it already past the expiration date or not......

COME ON MAN, WHO COMES UP WITH THIS STUFF?

I know you didn't just make something like putting chalk into the freezer up, who put that in your head?

YES! That's an old-timer trick that today's younger players don't seem to buy into.

Chalk is essentially a desiccant and will absorb moisture in the air. So sticking it in the freezer is the exact opposite of what you should do.

Bake it for 15-20 minutes. (Skip the anjou pear slices and goat cheese) Low temp, as you want to dry it, not burn the paper off. If your environment is naturally humid, leave the chalk in the oven until completely cool.

that sounds like the right thing to me

Bake for 20 minutes at 250dF
or
Microwave for 30 seconds on high--and then do not touch the chalk for 20 minutes--friggen hot.

I think that it has to be declared frozen before you chalk the tip. If not it could result in a foul as soon as the the tip strikes the CB.

Frozen Chalk

I carry a portable freezer in my case just for chalk so it stays nice and cold in my pocket chalker.
If the batteries die I ask the bartender for some Saran Wrap and a cup of ice.

me too, but I popsicle stick my frozen chalk. serves as a pocket chalker too.

Absolutely not!

Unlike babies and puppies, chalk should never be put in the freezer.

:eek:Bro-once was enough!

This is brutal. The guy asks a simple question.....Let's wait for Trampsteamer to weigh in... on second thought, maybe better we not know what they use the freezer for at the 'old folks home'.

PS: wet currency dried in the microwave on high should not be left unattended. 10 minutes was too much. I don't know when it started burning.

Just saying--a handy hint.

Take care
