Hello and good day to you all, I hope this day finds you well. As you know billiard players from around the world strive to excel in a sport that doesn't receive much recognition and support from corporate companies. Presidents & CEO's work hard to change the opinions of many onlookers whether it be at the local pool hall, the news or even through ESPN by marketing their brand names.

It is at this point we look to you our friends and fans of women's billiards for assistance in helping 3 of our very own recognized female billiard players from Canada, Brittany Bryant, Veronique Menard and Denise Belanger. These 3 ladies have been selected to represent Canada at the upcoming 2010 Women's World 9 Ball Championships in Shenyang, China on August 26th - 29th, 2010. We are asking if you would be so kind in donating a fund of your choice to assist these 3 ladies for help in travelling costs & hotel. All funds collected will be split accordingly. Those wishing to assist and become a sponsor of these ladies will be recognized through the CWPT website as well as the ladies personal websites http://www.brittanybryant.com, http://www.denisebelanger.ca or Facebook pages Veronique Menard.

At this point we would graciously like to thank you all in advance for your kind support.
Please direct your attention to the CWPT website www.cwpt.ca in the news section on the main page, where you may choose a button of your choice or you may paypal krista.walsh@rogers.com

Thanks for the info. I really enjoyed looking at Denise Belanger's website and reading her bio. In fact, I liked her website so much that I am going to contribute to the cause, so that she can compete. Denise has been playing pool for 29 years, and she sounds like somebody I would genuinely like to meet. :)

Edited: To send $50 in Canadian dollars, it cost $49.85.

Be sure to let Denise Belanger know I made this donation because of her.

I understand assisting those who TRULY need assistance, and in this case 2 out of 3 are deserving, both Denise and Veronique have worked hard and to my knowledge have never had a "MAJOR" sponsor. Both have also given back to the sport not only as a player but as promotors, ambassadors and mentors.

Britanny is already receiving an expense package (flight and hotel)from CBSA for winning the title of Canadian champion last year, and she also has several sponsors, one of them being Olhausen, so why is she included in this fundraiser?

We need to give to those who truly NEED assistance firstly, and secondly to those who are deserving. Just my thoughts.

Wondering

Gee, I wonder if CWPT got my donation.

Hello Jam

We did get your donation of $50.00. Thank you so very much for your kind words. So far we have raised $660.00 which will be split accordingly.
The CWPT organization had decided to run this fundraiser to assist all 3 ladies, not just those who deserve it. We as human beings are to be kind, giving, and pay it forward whenever at all possible. Treat others how you wish to be treated as someday you too will ask for help. Be inspired!!!
Thank you Jam!

Hi Jam,
I personally want to thank you for your $50.00 donation to help me and my friends get to China. Your words are very caring and for this I am very grateful for people like you in this world. It's not everyday you hear this and when you do hear it, it inspires me to keep on being me. I look forward to meeting you one day and if you would send me your address to denise@cwpt.ca, I will send you an autograph picture for your donation.
Thanks again and take care.

You won't get a cent from me.

Lets call this what it is, it's e-begging masquerading as fund-raising or sponsorship.

So many charities in the world that are in need.

Just think of those in Pakistan and Haiti for example. I just want you to visualise a person that has lost everything... family, home, livelihood, friends... everything. Now I want you to think of 3 stupid little girls who want to have a good time and I want you to weight up on who deserves the money more?

You could have just ignored the post. There was no need for name-calling.

Why should I ignore your post? I have every right to say that I find your e-begging is totally disgusting and pathetic.

Your not a charity, so don't act like one!

First of all...it's not my post. I was simply commenting on your post.

Second of all...of course you are entitled to your opinion. I was just thinking that maybe you could have been nicer about it.

I just didn't see a need for name-calling.

Melissa

I didn't misread.

It's very likely that she is part of the same scam. People don't defend despicable actions unless there is something in it for them.

HERE IS A REAL CHARITY! http://www.dec.org.uk/

Part of the same scam? I know the players involved...but I am not involved in trying to raise money for them. As a matter of fact...look through the history of my posts and you will see that I have never asked for money for myself or anyone else.

Just because I criticized you for name-calling doesn't mean that I'm looking to get anything from anyone.

Furthermore...this doesn't seem to be a scam to me. There is a history of the AZB people helping out players who ask...because they believe in them or they believe in helping someone fulfill their dreams. There is nothing wrong with that. You don't have to agree with it...but your disagreement does not make those girls stupid by any means.

I give to charities...my time and my money. Not that how I spend my money is any of your business. I give to women's causes, childrens' funds, cancer awareness, animal rescues...etc. And...I sometimes give to pool players when they need help traveling to World Championships. Big deal. Just because I do....it doesn't diminish the help that I have given to other causes.

So please...stop with the accusations...because you don't know anything about me.

I simply think that you are out of line with the name-calling.

Melissa

Just my 2 cents

True , there are many other places we could send money to help people in need ,and they are very deserving ! I just think they were trying to help some players who want to play and dont have the funds to make that happen . Everyone has a right to come on here and post what ever they want ,but we dont have to bash others for their thoughts . I personally try to help the people here in the US ,but I dont bash others for helping people from other places.

Wow

All I can say is wow! Geometry, you are entitled to your oppinion which is exactly that. You don't know anything about what we do or what we give back to our charities. I for such support United Way here in Toronto through my company. I have also supported my friends who needed supporting. Asking for help, why is it such a crime? I did not make those children starve or cause their grief. People have a choice if they want to donate, if they don't that is fine too. I am not forcing anyone to give me money...it is a choice! I will not feel bad just because you have an oppinion, and you can call me what you like as it is only a word.
If you want to continue being angry and demanding that is your choice. I for one stand proud for what I do for people in my country/city which is called giving back. What people do with their money is their business not yours. Good luck with your charity!!!

I love how he keeps calling them "3 stupid little girls" when he doesn't even know them.

he's a jerk, ignore him

Melissa, I have seen similar posts by this "Geometry" with about the same tone and tenor.... some folks get their kicks being a keyboard bully

the only good point of view is their point of view...

.... Now I want you to think of 3 stupid little girls who want to have a good time ....

Why haven't our honourable members red-rep'd this Geometry poster into never-never land ? I did my part.

I did my part too. Makes it sound like helping our Canadian pool sisters is some crime against humanity.

Hi, Denise. I am so glad you posted in this thread. Don't let others dissuade you from participating on AzBilliards. We are a pool forum, and this thread definitely belongs here.

I read your bio on your website, and I enjoyed looking at all the different pictures, too. You are a trooper and a true thoroughbred pool player at heart.

I would love to have your autographed picture, but, more importantly to me, I would like for you to come back to AzBilliards upon eturn from your trip to China and post some pictures of your experience in shooting in that tournament. That would REALLY be nice.

Good luck. I'm rooting for YOU!

I hit him with red rep, too, but it's not enough. We need to bring out the big red guns, dag nab it!
